Is this game very WOW like? I heard it's WOW mixed with Guild Wars 2. Looking for something new to play after ESO left a very negative impact on me at VR level grinding.
The combat is very different. The instances are very difficult, even the beginning ones. The first dungeon in like a 5 man raid. If you have a good group it goes well, but can be brutal. The quests are the same as wow. The crafting is way deeper than wow. The housing is truly amazing. Overall I really like this game. It can be very hard at times but that is fun for me, Lots of elite mobs roaming around, so death comes often. I don;t feel at all like I am playing wow, but the game has quests, instances, raids and cartoony graphics so people say its a wow clone. Either way, I say give it a shot. at least get to level 20 and see how it goes.
it looks good and plays good but there is no wow factor for me it feels like something is missing.
I am the wrong person probably to ask this is the first mmo I am going to pass.
I am very negative with what has been releasing everything is the same and I just decided subscription fees are bullshit.
they always promise new content for your sub but nothing comes cash shops if they are so money hungry.
look at the dark souls games no subscription fee and some of the best rpg games ever made.
Just a comment on the sub fee. I certainly understand why you feel that way but Dark Souls will not have to keep paying a staff of 150+ after release like MMO's do. This is a major cost. So they have an option of cash shop or sub. I dont want to get in that discussion but they decided on sub fee to pay the devs, until there aren't enough subs to pay the bills then F2P.
Dark Souls does not have to worry about paying all the salaries.
Have not played beta, using a 7 day buddy key at the moment. I like the combat so far. The quests are varied so far. I guess later on it will feel more and more like a quest hub. But what MMOs dont have quest hubs. The combat is surprisingly good so far, Im only level 8.
Have not tried any PvP, but 40v40 matches sounds pretty awesome to me. Although I cant tell until I try it myself.
The 40 man raids is a experience to look forward to, but I hope it wont result in too much waiting for healers.
That said, I hope this game will bring back the meaning in MMOs, where you actually have to play TOGETHER-
I am so tired of SOLO "MMO" RPGs.
The person above is negative in terms of sub fee. I gladly will pay my sub fee, if the game will not turn into another Gem Stores 2, where 9/10 updates and the core rewards are designed around the cash shop.
OP - people that like it will say great things about it, people that dislike it will say it's crap, and those in the middle will say - meh
That pretty sums up any feedback on games released to date. Does that mean the OP should not listen to any of it, be it negative or positive?
The best way ofc, is to try it yourself. I like my time so far in my free trial. Beyond that I cant say. Should we stop discussing games on this gaming forum, because everyone is biased?

No but anyone asking how is Game x is largely a waste of time.
You could spend 40 years reading books about different types of honey, you could interview 1000s of people about what honey tastes like.
Or you could just take a minute and try it yourself.
Anyone really looking for a game can just try it - betas are there for that, now there are guest passes etc..
Only a matter of time before free trials.

If you are in EUrope i can give you a "friend code" so you can try it yourself for a week.
I have been playing and at this point i am only lvl 16 medic. My friends all say you have to get to lvl 20. I think the game is fine. But i just havent had that "hook" yet. Nothing that makes m want to come back to do. WHat ever it is.
***On a side note im working crazy hours and when i get home im still thinking about work, often taking work calls in the middle of things so not really 100% focused on playing anything***
It doesn't reinvent the wheel, it takes a lot from games you've seen and played already. If you are a fan of Wildstar's art direction and visuals, give it a try.
I am not, they are far too goofy for me to stomach, so I'll have to migrate elsewhere.
I played a medic to 21 then got kind of bored. The fact that you only get one type of weapon is kind of lame. Hard to get excited about using one weapon the entire game. Makes you miss the freedom of teso character customization.
These sci-fi games tend to be very visually "busy" too. Trying to quest around the main exile city was a bit of a headache. My favorite part about teso is how clean and simple everything was. I just wish it had the battlegrounds, warplots, adventures, dungeons etc. that wildstar does.
The game is a B-. Worth checking out for fans of the MMORPG genre, but nothing about the game is really going to grab you and make you feel like it's going to be a long term investment or home. I found the design of the classes to be particularly unappealing. In many cases, all you are doing is watching cooldowns. There are some interesting things that start to happen when you start upgrading powers to the 4th and 8th tiers; but they are a long time in coming.
Still lots of people on powerful systems suffering FPS problems, so make sure to get a trial version first before you buy it to see if it runs acceptably on your system.
It most certainly doesn't feel like you're playing wow, unless you get confused by the graphics which are similar (much more detailed in Wildstar though).
Once me and my friends tried the lvl 20 dungeons, we were sold. So much fun and perfectly challenging. Doing them with a PuG can be a pain, but I don't feel that's the intent, play with guildies or people you know and the experience is 10x better. I think the difficulty is good for the community, you want to play with people you know, since you are heavily rewarded in doing so.
We died a lot but we always felt that we could do better (and we did!), it never felt unfair.
The leveling experience is like in other games, but the combat and difficulty makes it interesting.
I have leveled this char with a friend and it's a lot more fun than soloing, since you can go after elites more easily. Most quests have quest mobs of varying difficulty, and it's worth going after the elite mobs if you can, instead of farming the easier mobs, it's also more fun!
It also feels like you get more xp when being grouped, we were 1 lvl above my other char at 22, even though we hadn't done anything more than what I did on that guy. Questing is also faster since most quests have shared progress. In most games I feel penalized when lvling with friends, but not here, definitely the other way around.
it looks good and plays good but there is no wow factor for me it feels like something is missing.

this is the developpers problem not the gamers
you cant advertise your games by saying - well its so expensive cause we have to pay the bills - no one cares if price/performance isnt good (not saying it isnt)...
If developpers choose to go down the 100% themepark route they know from the beginning they have to throw out content fast...otherwise dont develop this kind of game or integrate more sandbox features that keep players busy (and for me instanced pvp or housing is no such feature)
it looks good and plays good but there is no wow factor for me it feels like something is missing.

Im pretty sure if the devs cant be paid then the gamers are going to run into problems. Just saying. As for having something to do it wildstar is more for the people who want to work towards having a killer warplot or getting into the 20 and 40 man raids. Which BTW to get into the 20 man raid alone takes about 3 weeks min. So if you arnt a raider pvper or you dont enjoy their housing system than this game is not for you. I recommend trying archage eventually i think it would be more up the allie of a sandbox mmo fan.
How is this game you ask? Well Wildstar is like my girlfriend's breasts, full, enticing, and filled with wonderment that easily gets me excited. :-) You are welcome

I wasn't even able to stomach it past 15. The questing was so god damned generic and boring I couldn't handle it.

This game basically does what wow did many years ago- it takes the good parts of other mmo's on the market and brings them together very effectively.
To me it feels like WOW 2. It has dynamic combat (while avoiding that horrible hybrid neither-here-nor-there thing GW2 had) which works very well. It has trinity thus avoiding clusterfucks in dungeons.
There is nothing new here (but then there hasn't been in any mmo for more than a decade (and yes that includes the superficial changes in GW2)) but what there is is very well put together.
The game is very well put together and having a lot of fun .The questing for me is fun but I am not hung up on things.I just enjoy a game and do not worry about putting things in categories and colour coding the problems. Enjoy the game for what it is. Even if its a clone if it is well done you might enjoy it if you let yourself.

I Hate Questing. Once I hit 6 I just pvp'ed the entire way to 15, and then I started mixing in adventures with my pvp. So enjoyable. You don't have to quest.

Action/tab target hybrid combat, 20/40 man raiding, instanced pvp, very cartoony atmosphere.
It is by all means a WoW clone, but a pretty solid and enjoyable one.
