Game is too expensive to just tryout

woodyflywoodyfly Member UncommonPosts: 62

$60 just to try out the game and see if i'll like it? Terrible deal. It's not like this is my first mmorpg and looks so fun! I've cycled through so many mmorpgs (as you probably have) and uninstalled it within 15 minutes.

Where's the trial? I don't care if it's a 1-day trial, you can get a pretty good feeling of the game and mainly combat just by playing the game for a few minutes.

Trials are usually added to the game a few months after release.

If not a year after launch, yeah, trials aren't for right after a launch, never have been never will be.

Also, Wildstar had one of the longest open betas I've seen for a P2P game.

ALSO, there are buddy keys to get a 7 day trial if you can find one from someone.

Or there was a thing called a BETA and an OPEN BETA.  Now they are ment to help test the game but most people use them these days as their "free trial". Sorry OP you missed the boat.

There was an open beta pre-launch.

Everybody who buys the game is being given 3 guest passes to distribute. There are threads out there to request keys.

The game will come down in price - so you could wait. (Those who really, really wanted to play were probably in the beta.)

Once the initial month or two have passed I would expect a trial - after the guest passes have run there course - and Carbine have alluded to this. (You wouldn't want to buy a new game and not be able to log on due to the servers being swamped by people trying the trial after all.)

So a bit of patience or ask for a key seems to be in order of the day - I don't see any fault on Carbine's part however. (They seem positively keen on getting people to try out the game.)

WS launched with a 7 day f2p. It looks like it will be going on forever.

Anyone who purchased was given not one but three 7 day f2p passes. Just ask someone.

That's very nice of you, thanks. I didn't expect that. I expect nothing from anybody, ever.

    Gonna try it out now

I'm interested in giving it a try if a guest pass is available, thanks in advance!
  • RynetRynet Member UncommonPosts: 114
I'm interested in a guest pass as well. I have the money for the game should I like it but I never got to try the beta and don't want to roll the dice on something that I may not like.

I've already played the game on a guest pass and it's just way too expensive to actually play the game for me.

When it comes down to it, I'm either buying this game and get to play it for one month or I can almost buy 6 months of FF14 sub for the same price. It's a no-brainer.

about a month ago they asked the WHOLE FUCKING WORLD to test their game and prove em wrong.

    they called it open beta.

and if you actually have some friends who are no cheap ones, ask em for a key.

there is no reason to blame carbine for not throwing out their game for free.

Hm and buddy sends him a key...

Well I am going to start a new thread, Porches are just to damn expensive even just to try out, like they should have a one day free trial.

P.S. I think metalic blue convertible, if this works, lol.

Heh, believe me that was not my intention. I'm pretty cynical, I expect nothing from anybody ever. It was more of a whine and move on thread, I was surprised to get a key. I do believe that the greatest things happens when you least expect them.

It's too bad there weren't multiple free beta weekends prior to the launch that you could have played.  Oh wait...but there's no way it's YOUR fault, right?  Gotta blame someone or something else?  Yeah, sounds right.

I didn't even know there were free beta weekends. I don't follow the mmorpg scene much anymore. All I know is that wildstar was released and  my friends were talking about it, so I checked it out.

That is why I got into the beta test.

I found that the game was enjoyable, but not "pay $15 a month' enjoyable.

Since when is Tuesday a direction?

Simply wait or don't be cheap. It's the same price as any other sub based game. Find someone willing to give you a guest pass or watch videos and see if it's something you would enjoy.

Death is nothing to us, since when we are, Death has not come, and when death has come, we are not.

You should really do at least a tiny bit of research before making a thread. There's even an entire forum thread for 7 day guest keys. It's stickied: http://www.mmorpg.com/gamelist.cfm/game/632/view/forums/thread/414113/Wildstar-Guest-Pass-Offers-and-Requests-Thread.html

Too bad you missed all the open beta periods in the run-up to launch. Try getting a buddy key.

I think a company that truly believes their product is good, will have trials from day 1.

It is just as if they would like you to spend first and then find out their product is crap.

I know its industry practice now, but it does not make sense in the views of the consumers.

A trial is a way of you knowing if the product is good or not before buying, and not providing a trial is a sure sign that they are not sure the majority of the public will like.

If you are a Star Wars fan, why not try the Star Wars The Old Republic?

Nah, I did research. I saw the threads and all about the guest passes. I wasn't really that interested in the game to the point of enrolling in a giveaway. This post was more of a "leave a feedback and move on".
