Well to answer your questions, it's pretty much WoW in a different setting with action oriented combat. Everything else in game is a copy or very very similar. The leveling pace is good in my opinion, not too fast, not too slow. It's a quest hub based game to get to the end game raiding through and through, so nothing really innovative there.
The fun comes in with choosing your 4 different paths that gives you quests based off your favorite play style, this is really the only thing that saves WildStar's questing from being exactly like WoW.
I'd say give it a shot, find a 7 day guest pass and see if the game is for you. Some people will say it's nothing like WoW, I say give the game a shot for yourself and find out!

I would try and get a guest pass rather than plunking 60 bucks down. Obviously you have seen some things for yourself that have given you pause. There are an equal split of people who like and don't like this game. For $60 is not worth the price of this game plus a monthly sub to me. I would rather save my money and get something I know I will like. For the record I did play this game for awhile and wish I hadn't spent my money on it. Everyone kept saying wait till you get tot his level, then it was what till you get here and can do this. Every time I made it somewhere I was still disappointed.

It does what wow did in 2004, it takes the good parts of all other mmo's and combines them into a fun, polished package. I am enjoying it a lot, but without knowing what you like it is hard to say.
It is an odd combination of vanilla/ TBC wow levelling curves/ difficulty but updated a lot and the combat is a lot different/ (silly buzz word) dynamic.

I really like this game, and I don't really think it's a wow clone like so many others. The only thing that I think is very wow like is the aesthetic and the quest hubs. Here are a few differences.
The class system in wildstar is far more customizable than WoW's with limited action sets, and a limited amount of points to strengthen abilities.
The combat in wildstar is mainly based on AoE and pretty twitch, very little tab target, while wow is all tab target. Honestly wildstar combat is closer to gw2 than it is to wow.
PvE in wildstar has a large emphasis on avoiding powerful telegraph attacks that mobs do, and most mobs have very different attack types.
If you were that guy in wow who liked to run through dungeons and quests at a retarded speed without stopping to collect loot or read text or soak in the view then this is your game CUPCAKE!
No seriously though, I would say 1. You have to have enjoyed wow .2. You don't mind a "stylized art style" 3. You enjoy a very FAST PACED MMO and finally 4. YOU LOVE a endgame grind.......

As a huge fan of breaking the intended rules and boundaries of MMOs, I have to say that Wildstar does a great job of utilizing the space in the world. Although the physics engine when trying to climb a hill/ above average wall can be a bit annoying. While sliding down I cant jump even if I did jump at the same exact spot right before. Feels a little bit wrong, but all MMOs have their rule sets that you have to abide. I have noticed that sprinting at the right angle with a mount/hoover board will grant up to 2x the height you would get from just a normal jump on flat ground.

Think WOW 2 branching directly from WOW TBC with different mechanics for fighting and housing. Well designed and for the first time since WOW vanilla, a seamless world that is bigger than WOW vanilla. Well worth the price in comparison to any game released in the last couple years at least.

There are way more than quests in the open world. I have not played ESO, so I cannot say they have more or less dynamic content, but I did play Rift for a couple years and W* has destroys that game in terms of open world content, size , and freedom.

It has WoW elements but doesn't feel like your playing WoW at all.
The game is great. Though I didn't really enjoy the questing too much.....Endgame on the other hand makes it worthwhile.

Challenges are basically quests, they are not multiplayer. world bosses are group quests that can generally be soloed with some difficulty or demolished in a group, not that much fun... Adventures were a lot of fun I will admit, but there isn't enough of them. Housing doesn't interest me.

Maybe my latency is better then average - but I really love the action combat in this game. It reminds me a lot of Ratchet and Clank. GW2 combat was much better then people gave it credit for - if you were talking about playing to the best of your abilities. But I think this game is unbelievably even 'tighter'.
I will admit that I thought the other mmos of late would do better - but I truly feel this game has some staying power. It does remind you of WoW though. I'd say has some TBC in it though - not just Vanilla.
The thing about Wildstar is that you might find yourself liking it - just like WoW - even though you KNOW it has stuff you don't like. It doesn't have enough voice acting (and its not very great when they have it). The quests can feel repetitive - its not like just cruising through a zone in GW2 and going up several levels doing dynamic events. I personally think the graphics are too cartoony. Some zones kinda bother my eyes. But despite all that - I really like it.
I think it takes a real hater to hate this game - though. Despite its formulaic approach they execute. Think of lit like a blockbuster movie - you kinda know whats coming but man its better then you imagined.

Your soloing world bosses?!?! We were wipering with 40 people on the one in Celestion, Maybe at max level they are easier, but no way you soloing a world boss. Challenges are more like hearts in GW2 just triggered (their triggered in gw2 too actually). Ive taken part in a few public events (they've been groups of mobs attacking an area).
Wildstar has more than quests in the zones besides challenges world bosses or public events, you search for lore books journals datachrons, you hunt for rares, secret stash's hidden gems, Youll find a lot more to do in wildstar Zones than say WoW zones.
Im personally always finding something to keep me busy, or a distraction from the quests, be it a shiphand (solo or group), an adventure (choose your own adventure style group play), Ive discovered hidden zones by finding glowing things on the ground that transport you somewhere and start a public event (empty the place of monsters typically). Ive been transported to a cave full of ore after killing a mob that spawned from a resource node.
If you follow the path things remain unexciting if you veer off the path sometimes you come across something cool.
I just cant recommend this game. As someone who's been playing MMO games since vanilla EQ, this is just more of the same repackaged. The open world is UTTERLY POINTLESS unless you like questing (nobody likes questing, shut up).
There are a GRAND TOTAL of 2 BGs. Yeah, and they are both pretty bad. I haven't tried group PVE so maybe that's where this game shines. PVP is a joke though.
I do like the combat system until more than 3 players start to partake in it. All in all, wait for the next big thing to actually innovate, Wildstar is a solid game but it's not going to be anything serious.
The interaction you can do with the world around you is impressive. The quest amount and variety rivals any veteran mmo. The game world is seamless and the zones are easily 5 times the size of a typical wow zone. 40+ hours in across all characters and I think I may have hit 1 invisible wall (sheer mountainsides not included).
Combat is fluid, graphics and sounds are shard, crafting is interesting, mob AI is diverse and difficult, huge world, some of the best housing, battelgrounds are a fun alternative to quests.
Easily the most feature complete mmo I have ever experienced at launch. Of course if you dont like it, youre gonna be sick of hearing people like me gush over it, and I apologize. But man, this game is legit.
You soloed a world boss ??? You mean you soloed the group content the one meant for 2,3 or 5. Have you even seen a world boss. The one in Algoroc needs 20 people and people were dying like flies to his AOE. I call BS on your soloed with some difficulty.
