I am really getting tired of reading headlines about new phones everytime I look at the technology section of any news.
Its just a smaller version of a laptop people!

The technology behind a typical cellphone is astounding. The ability to cast your choice anywhere on earth is something that can never be matched. Phones are only going to get better and better as manufacturers make smaller and more powerful processors. The only way they're going away is if someone radically redesigns it, such as it being an implant.
I'll never tire of them. Great business tool. At some point I'll be able to Aiden Pearce the hell out of stuff. Though i'm not a fan of potentially being spied on but I'll cross that bridge even I get there.
What bugs me most about them is the thought that computer games will, possibly at some point in the future, largely be dumbed down to be able to work on phone or tablet interfaces. Which is going to be really sad. And infinitely worse than the damage already done by making nearly everything these days console compatible.
What i find funny is that not long ago the trend was that phones were getting smaller and smaller and you were cool if you had a small phone (parodied quite well in movie Zoolander).
Now the bloody things are getting bigger again so much so that they don't fit in your damn pocket and now everyone rushes out to get the latest (bigger)phone.
You must be looking at different tech sites than me. But I think the reason for the excitement has to do with scaling it back up to other applications like desktop SSDs or dense screens.
I don't think we will see a fundamental shift to phone devices just yet because... small screens kill eyes.
