I am so sick of this trend in MMO's. The "game world" is a pointless container for questing. I hate questing. If you ask me, quests aren't even content (at all).
So seeing as how the open world offers absolutely nothing worthwhile to the game, it's another instance fest where you have 2 BGs total (amazing!) and some PVE stuff.
Warplots are apparently a massive zergfest. Hell, 10v10 feels like a massive zergfest. WTF devs? This trend is starting to piss me off.

hehe, well I guess this proves you can't please everyone.

great he doesn't like something... THis tells nothing about what he'd rather see, which is actual useful information... As long as folks like him keep ranting about what they hate, rather than offering constructive suggestions based around what they like.. they'll continue to deal with..."this again?!?!"...

I think what the OP means is... MMOs are now all forced quest hubs that string you along to max level.
What he probably wants is a choice to fight bosses OR fight only mobs OR find "meaningful quests" (when there are 20 quests in one small area they aren't really that meaningful... but 2 or 3 long deep quests are meaningful). I mean you could level this way in games all the time pre-WoW. No...I'm not saying WoW is the issues (since you can level with dungeons I think still?), just saying the trend is to force people to do quests and only quests as a viable way of quickly leveling. People will say "you can level in PvP", but if leveling isn't equally fast or equally enjoyable as it is with other means then it isn't deep enough to be meaningful.
You shouldn't leave a zone and never go back ever again in an mmo. There should be reasons for why all levels and characters want to return to zones eventually without re-rolling. Yes this also was standard 10 years ago. That isn't really the case anymore...when you play a zone and never intend to return it's pretty shallow design.
WS is a very polished/feature complete game, however.
The OP has a good point and BC made it more clear but like you said the way he ( th eop ) went about expressing it makes him come off like an angry joke instead of someone that like many is tired of games full of kill x quests as " leveling content"
Themeparks should be a ride through a story. So many have just become a grind through levels. For all SWTORs faults it's one of the very few to actually make you part of a story as you leveled instead of just having a huge section of your game that people try and rush through to get to the "end game"
My opinion is my own. I respect all other opinions and views equally, but keep in mind that my opinion will always be the best for me. That's why it's my opinion.
Wildstar is extremely instanced game.
Open world is elsewhere :j
Although I don't disagree with the sentiment (the quest hub thing is getting old for me only because i've played a ton of them) I have to question wtf the OP was thinking when he bought the game. Judging from his other posts he obviously despises questing and knew full well that Wildstar had plenty of it. That's like me asking if Titanfall is a shooter, confirming it is, buying it, then bitching that all these games have guns and I have to shoot people. Makes no #$$%ing sense to me.
There are plenty of other games out there. Go play those instead. Why whine about questing in a themepark RPG? It's kind of their thing. They are a genre now. Deal with it.
I'm pretty sure the "open game world" is suppose to provide a social experience, be it grouping or PvP.
You, however, seem to be looking for something along the line of Minesweeper.
So a player buys and plays a themepark MMO, then complains that it is just another typical themepark...
"going into arguments with idiots is a lost cause, it requires you to stoop down to their level and you can't win"
ARGH! I hate quests... they aren't even content (huh?)
I want a large open world that is just full of f'ing nothingness with zero point for my character to be there and nothing to do but wander around through empty plains. I will call it The Void online or the Kansas State Simulator.

His main beef was "questing".
You can go one step further and realize that even the npc's are meaningless since all they do is stand underneath a yellow /orange marker .That is the true target of quest only gaming, you are looking for those markers nothing else.
There is a LOT more than to just say killing/questing, how WELL you do it makes a HUGE difference AND how well you present it in form of graphics and layout.
IMO WS looks cheap,it looks like a typical Blizzard game so go figure former Blizzard employees. The world does NOT look like a world but more like modules, like playing Starcraft or LOL or something, just some modules placed where ever.
I am one of those anxiously awaiting EVERY new game with some glimmer of hope a developer will do the genre justice and show some real professional work. This is also why i have quit playing mmorpg's NONE of them are worth my while.
I enjoyed vanilla FFXI a lot ,then that game went downhill.EQ2 was fun for a questing game and the only one i will pop into once awhile since it is free to play but it does not have the depth vanilla FFXI had.
EVERY single game is identical, soloing in a MMO "lmao" with quests as the main goal.I think this is why so many want some sort of pvp,the rest of our game's content is too weak as you can only chase around yellow/orange markers for so long before getting bored.EVERYONE plays these games like it is some race to get levels, that is quite a superficial reason if you ask me.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.
Would you ever go to a site that was dedicated to platform jumpers and complain about how you are tired of games where you have to jump over everything? What do you mean you are tired of questing? It's a Theme Park MMORPG. That's what you do. You quest. Maybe you should have said you are tired of MMORPGs. But then you could have just not posted and moved along altogether.
There isn't a "right" or "wrong" way to play, if you want to use a screwdriver to put nails into wood, have at it, simply don't complain when the guy next to you with the hammer is doing it much better and easier. - Allein

Being negative is always easier than thinking-up constructive suggestions.
Ask most people what they DO want out of life, and 9 times out of 10 they'll mumble vague generalities. But ask them what they DON'T want in their lives, and they'll rattle off a long list of very specific complaints. Try it sometime...
Please pack your backs and go play FPS shooters...
there is so much lore and content to be told with the questing, its incredible... If you can not recognise that, you are clearly playing the wrong genre... Stay away from MMOs or atleast from themepark games, thats the only solid advice i can give you
Best MMO experiences : EQ(PvE), DAoC(PvP), WoW(total package) LOTRO (worldfeel) GW2 (Artstyle and animations and worlddesign) SWTOR (Story immersion) TSW (story) ESO (character advancement)
And I bet you don't like First Person Shooters because they have too much running around and shooting. I bet you don't like Real Time Strategies because they are not turn-based.
The genre won't change what it is for you - so you don't like MMO's then find a game you do like.
Actually, this is one of those posts where you never see the OP again.
Let's not waste any more time on it.
