[Interview] General: Entropy: A Game for the Future Based on the Best of the Past

SBFordSBFord Former Associate EditorMember LegendaryPosts: 33,129

Entropy Online is a game that has its roots in the best space games of yore, including Elite and the X-Wing series. Entropy, however, aims to bring free-form sandbox play to space with hundreds of solar systems, a three faction struggle between megacorporations and much, much more. We had the chance to interview lead designer Andy Butcher about a recent (and included!) developer interview all about Entropy. Check it out!

Had my eye on this for a while. Looks promising, but I won't consider purchasing it until it's out of early access (or I can play a free trial of some sort). Been burned a few too many times, and waiting on too many crowd funded projects to complete (most look good though).

AN' DERE AIN'T NO SUCH FING AS ENUFF DAKKA, YA GROT! Enuff'z more than ya got an' less than too much an' there ain't no such fing as too much dakka. Say dere is, and me Squiggoff'z eatin' tonight!

We are born of the blood. Made men by the blood. Undone by the blood. Our eyes are yet to open. FEAR THE OLD BLOOD.

Some how space games seem Less fun without non space stuff too. Unfortunately STO was never quite right either.

I wouldn't say that. I've seen some player reviews on the Steam site say a lot different. Players that have been in the game a while sit in starter areas and blow up brand new players just un-docking for the first time. 1 shot boom! They say the Devs opened up PVP on starter areas so..be warned.

That looks a LOT like Eve, to the point that it is going to directly compete for players. It looks like twitch mechanics, which means it likely won't be capable of getting to the large scale stuff like Eve does with thousands of players in one system at once.

And I'm sure the Goonswarm-Something Aweful guys will let rip on it at a suitable time like they did in STO with the Bridge of Death and other shenanigans.

Good luck. You'll need a lot of it.

    Where's the any key?
