Looking for a casual-friendly game

tkoreapertkoreaper Member UncommonPosts: 412

I've been noticing more and more lately that I just get burned out on games. I'll pick up a new game, have fun, level up, and then just get bored or just lose the motivation to do anything. It's not that these are bad games because they really are great, but its just that my work schedule doesn't allow me to be hardcore like I used to be.

I love doing raids and hanging out with guildies, but I feel like there's no point in trying those things when I don't have the time needed to devote to it... This is where the lack of motivation comes in. Maybe I'm just asking/expecting too much from these games, but I'm hoping there's a game out there that is right for me.

I like RPGs and FPSs all the same and I switch between the two whenever I'm in the mood to play one or the other. I've been playing Wildstar and Planetside 2 which are both excellent games. Some other recent games include Rift, The Secret World, Guild Wars 2, & Final Fantasy XiV.

The Secret World was amazing and I'm sure it still is, but I just can't get into its clunky combat (If it's been changed please tell me!). I really enjoyed Rift, but I've grown tired of it's poor performing engine. Maybe I can get into GW2's PvP some more, but I'll probably just get bored with it. I refuse to let go of Planetside 2 because, as a Planetside 1 vet, it's my baby and nothing will ever take its place.

I'm looking for a RPG game that I can play and stay motivated to do things. It would need to have a lot of things I can do at endgame to keep me busy. I enjoy PvP so that's always a plus, but I'm not really into things like housing. Hopefully someone somewhere out there has a game for me.

I would say give SWTOR and Tera a try.  SWTOR has a shit ton of content added since it released 2 years ago.  Not to mention, they are both F2P.  So, you can give them a spin without any commitment.

Which would you say has better PvP?

If i had to say, I think tera has better pvp. I am not saying swtor has bad pvp, just tera might be better. Swtor pvp is like wow; arenas, battlegrounds and very little open world pvp. Now that i think about it, tera is not far off from that model, from what friends have said image

Guess I might not be much helpimage

Neopets sounds like a perfect fit.

Try getting back into GW2. Besides.... if you are truly going to play casually you shouldn't get bored of it.

Unless you aren't casual and are one of those people who classifies eight hours a day as casual.

I'm talking 2, maybe 3, hours a day on average. A lot more on the weekends/off-days.

Yeah, I would agree with going with GW2 even though I cannot personally play it. Its very casual though and there's plenty of stuff to do. XIV is honestly very people dependent at end game. There's alot to do in rift but it gets old faster than other games to me at least. You can also try Warframe which is a good third-person shooter type mmo. Plenty of stuff to keep you busy there.

Personally, after playing Tera's open world pvp and Guild vs. Guild system.  I just can't pvp in games like SWTOR that uses tab target.  Not because I can't, but because tab target pvp is boring as hell to me.  If I was to tell you which to choose for pvp.  Then Tera hands down.

wow, I wouldn't classify that as casual.  That is quite a bit of time to be spending on a game.  To me casual is a jumping on a couple of times a week.

It's usually only about 1 or 2 on the weekdays, but weekends I have more time. It's not very consistent either because my work hours and the times I am available to play are always changing.

If I were to choose between games like Tera and SWTOR I would go SWTOR.  It is more what you would call casual friendly, think the pve side of SWTOR is more causal friendly.  I played both and both have merit but unless you want to group up to kill mobs, which is not a bad thing, go SWTOR.  I don't think of grouping to do normal quest etc as casual friendly myself.  Reason I say that is casual in my mind means I solo play a lot.

Is your description of casual mean solo or just grouping up for an hour?

Try out Final Fantasy 14, I work nights and still manage to do 90% of the games content.
