If you can find a real school, Kung Fu is everything.
I'm 51 years old, I can move better than a fit 18 year old. In our school classes never go beyond forth level because of new start people. In fact usually only first or second level, but you could never get enough of the basics. This is the foundation.
However, you learn on the side, advanced students are encouraged to come before and after classes to learn the deep stuff.
Real Kung Fu never ends....If you learn the basics, I'm talking about REALY learn them, waist movement, stances and jing, you can study any other style more easy. You can even learn more from Youtubes
I talked about jing, this is deep and the foundation of what Kung Fu is. It's what sets Kung Fu apart from all other fighting styles. It involves deep rooted stances and power that comes from the legs, body and a sort of whipping action, not the arms or hands. Its what could knock someone out with a single strike or easily break bones. Jing takes years of practice in it self no matter what style. You have to constantly keep yourself in shape or you begin to loose jing......Jing is Kung Fu.
I'm my 22 years, I know two styles. Northern Long Fist, and Hung Gar. Long Fist is a style that moves fast and reaches. Hungar is the practice of the Tiger and Crain. However, I also know Praying Mantis along with many more.....Because I've spent years learning the basics. I can learn many styles easily. So many styles that are sooooo different yet the basics are the same. Ten lifetimes would not even bring you close to even know much.
Here is the problem. 90% of the schools suck. Almost every school in America is about business, not about real Kung Fu. Larger cities have a better chance of finding a real master, most are Chinese but some are Americans. It's hard for a noob to tell the difference. I guess the best way to tell the difference is to watch or take a class. No one would be expecting a noob to be good. But a good hard workout is not the only making of Kung Fu. It's the small stuff, the hidden stuff. By watching the advanced students, are they really twisting their waist ?....Is there back foot planted on the floor to keep root ?
Kung Fu is harder than a workout. Your bringing your body back to how a body can really move. The pain is usually bad, it never eases up. If it does your going in the wrong direction or getting lazy. You can always move faster, stances can always be lower........The good news ?.......You will reach a level where you love this pain, you will need it !
I really enjoy mountaineering. I've been to the top of Mt. Elbert, which wasn't nearly as dramatic as some other scrambles in the Elk Mt. Range. If I had lived out there long enough, I probably would have eventually set my sights on larger climbs elsewhere. Getting up into those higher altitudes, the conflict between the body and the ego becomes drawn into sharp resolution. Mountains teach some harsh lessons, most of all respect.
Surfing is a lot of fun, and spiritual. Snowboarding is great. Longboarding is good exercise.
I enjoy playing guitar, and sometimes even get paid for it. I also play the didgeridoo.
I trained Kokushi-ryu Goshindo Jujutsu in college (for delete ) for self-defense, Cuong-Nhu thereafter out of interest and momentum, and later Capoeira for fun. While I was a teacher I assistant-coached HS wrestling, which was a humbling experience.
I recently finished Stephenson's "Reamde". I'm planning to begin "The Hobbit" with my son when he's old enough, and continue through the rest of Tolkien's trilogy.
Most of all, I enjoy spending time with my family.
So, really not much would change, other than a few hours out of my week spent playing games, and a lot less time spent interacting with the 'net.

Ok, well the purpose of this thread is us the gamers who've had a common interest for a long period of time to explore what else out there life could offer if the genre fails us for a prolong period.
So, imagine tomorrow all games not just MMO's as well as the internet stopped being interesting to you. Imagine you had no friends, no relatives or known parties to socialize or a job to meet some and only few thousand bucks. I'm curious to see what your "MMO experience" would advice you to do to start from scratch in the ultimate "IRL MMORPG" that majority are playing "hardcore" out there.
So, here is what I would do.
#1 Watch tv shows/series/movies I might've missed and then end up waiting on X day for the next one.
#2 Watch sports like NBA and now soccer world cup.
I'll put more after...
So, what would you do?
Go out and play some recreational games as we all did before computer games came along, we had an imagination, which unfortunately is disappearing amongst younger generation including those in the game development business. If you have left school how about getting off your butt and go and get a job.
Just have a kid you will never have to worry about your free time again. Though I really want to build a tiny house and get out target and trapshooting more.
Kalinda Patton, communications manager at Z-Man Games, offered her opinion on just why board games have really been taking off in the past 10 years.
“Families have started to play with more 'new-wave' games compared to more traditional games like Monopoly,” Patton said. “Games like Carcassonne, Agricola and Pandemic are very popular games for families that are getting introduced to a different kind of gaming.
Board Game Stores Thrive in 21st Century, Provide Customers With 'Anti-Tech' Activities
If a person can't think of at least a few things to do besides using computer, or none of the activities involve going outside, then that must be a very depressing life. I would suggest some radical changes before it is too late.
For my personal decision, if I had no internet, no work and no friends, but had a lot of money, all of my focus would go on travels. I would probably leave everything behind and change location whenever possible. I have to much stability now to do that, but in your conditions, man... no hesitation.
Traveling, is probably one of the most amazing things you can do in your lifetime. Not all visits to foreign countries are great, and sometimes your life might be in danger if you go to the wrong place, at the wrong time, but that is true for any country, even your own.
Your only alive for a short while, and its up to you to figure out how to get some worthwhile experiences.
Doing sports while your body is strong enough is another thing. Besides the mental and physical fitness, its also about using your body to its utmost ability. you are going to live over half your life with a decaying body. you only have a short window to really get the most out of your endurance and strength, so don't waste it playing fake-pretend games. You can do that, but remember to also do sports! Millions of people are disabled, disfigured or sick and can't use their body. Somehow I feel it's an obligation to use the tools you have been given. Otherwise they are withering away.

Find a job, make friends, start dating, find a hobby, travel to different countries. Is it really this difficult? MMOs suck and are boring.
