I hope that EverQuest Next doesn't follow the EverQuest II timeline

If it doesn't that would mean no shattered moon and lands and cities more similar to the first EverQuest which I think would be great.

Not that I ever played the first one but EverQuest II changed things too much.

there have been 3 different EQ mmos

    original

    Everquest online adventures (PS2)

    EQ2

none of their EQ histories were the same

an afterlife realm, called the Ethernere connects all games

    twitter:

each Norrath is different plane. CT dead in EQ, not EQII. Reverse true for rallos zek. But all Norraths touch in Ethernere.

The lore panel participants, Jeff Butler(Creative Director), Darrin McPherson (Lead Designer), Steve Danuser (Senior Designer), and Ryan Barker (Senior Designer) stressed repeatedly throughout the presentation that while many names, places, and people may be familiar from our past adventures in Norrath, that we should not expect the forms they take to be the same as we might expect. Clearly, they are not hiding the fact that they are shaking things up on us.

One of the most unexpected take-aways from the panel was the re-structuring of Elven society and history, with all the Dal now being of one racial stock with the traditional divisions we know, such as the Koada'Dal, Feir'Dal, and Teir'Dal being social stratification only. A major departure from the past, though somehow I expect there are nuances to this that are yet to be revealed. Also of major note is the knowledge that we appear to all start as Combine refugees returning to Antonica after hundreds of years of captivity by the Shissar on Kunark. The idea of a small frontier town version of Qeynos as the only starting city for players seems risky to me, and I hope there is more yet to be revealed later that gives additional options.

Its almost like DC Universes. The worlds are parallel to each other but not all together the same. Some things the same, others very different. Heck even the god play will not be the same in EQN.

The old gods are dead in EQNext - so no Cazic Thule, Bertox, Innoruuk, Rallos is gone - they did away with all that.

I think SoE just wanted to remove any constraits from old games so they could create freely without worrying about if this fits or not.

And thanks to you too DMKano. image

they are not all gone but some will be missing  (like the ones you mentioned)

more gods are listed at this link

    http://www.eqnextfans.com/news/25360-amaril-and-the-gods-of-everquest-next

In this new vision of Norrath, the gods are considerably different than in the original story, and are divided into four religions: The Seraphs, The Four, Veeshan and Nor'I.

    The Seraphs

The Seraphs are a group of eight gods, principally worshiped by members of the Combine. This is considered to be the newer, more sophisticated religion. The Seraphs are mentioned throughout the eBook, The Last Stand of the Tier'Dal.

    Luclin and Drinal
The goddesses of prophecy and the past. In the original lore, Luclin was the ruler of the Plane of Shadows, and Drinal, was the spirit deity of night, destruction, and death.
    Talin (sp?)
This is an entirely new god. She is the goddess of rogues and brigands.
    Anashti
Called 'The Reaper', this goddess was mentioned in the original lore as the 'Prime Healer', and was destroyed by the other gods. She was later replaced by Rodcet Nife.
    Solusek
A name very familiar to EverQuest fans, Solusek is the god of fire as well as learning.
    Erollisi
She is the goddess of love, nature and growth. In the original lore, she was simply the goddess of love. Her new role in nature and growth is very interesting, and seems to be Tunare's replacement.
    Mithaniel
He is the god of war, honor and duty. In the original lore, he was simply the god of valor. His new role as the god of war seems to suggest he has replaced Rallos Zek.

    Brell
He is the builder, the patron of crafters. In the original lore, Brell Serillis was the creator of the Dwarves, and the lord of the Underfoot.

    Karana
He the the traveler, the god of weather. In the original lore, Karana was also the god of weather, though was not the patron of travelers.

I can understand that completely.  Glad they'll have freedom to build however they want.  Kind of reminds me of the Final Fantasy games (specifically the single player rpgs).  Thanks for the info Kano.

Looks like they are going for something similar to "the seven" from ASOIAF with the seraph.
