Trion Worlds has announced that the closed beta for long-awaited ArcheAge is set to kick off on Thursday, July 17th at 10:00 PDT / 1:00 EDT. Beta is expected to run throughout the weekend and end on Monday, July 21st at 10:00 PDT / 1:00 EDT.
ArcheAge has been in alpha testing for the last few months as the team has been hard at work on localization efforts. According to the press release, the beta will be in English only, though other language localizations are underway.
To celebrate the announcement, Trion has released a brand new trailer. Check it out below!
Read the full announcement on the ArcheAge site.
Created by Jake Song, best known for his international online smash Lineage, ArcheAge is a vast MMORPG adventure, free from pre-defined paths and progression. Players can create unique and elaborate homes, build farms that drive the world economy, and sail their ships to uncharted lands where they can construct massive castles as they lay claim to rich and vibrant realms. ArcheAge’s PvP system allows players to fight for glory in huge battles on land and sea, or even shun the two factions and live the life of a pirate!

AS many did, they didn't hold a gun to anyones head and make them pay $150 , to some this is nothing, they pay it, and don't complain, neither should you , its thanks to these people who pay more then you do that you get a quality game for free.
I'm concerned Closed Beta is so close (next Thursday?!). If any of you have been following the AA-Reddit like me you'd know that the latest 1.2 korean version patched to the Alpha & Omega (2nd alpha) servers have completely borked the game over apparently.
-Doubled/Tripled downtime for resting.
-Instruments for out-of-combat regen nerfed and given a 45 second reuse timer (they barely give you 10% to begin with...so you end up spamming it 10times over 5 minutes). You only can have one instrument equipped at a time btw, meaning you focus on mana OR hp regen pre-50 when you can make another.
-Songcraft (aka: bards), the LEAST played skill-tree has been severely nerfed support wise.
-Vitalism nerfed (aka: healing tree)
-Archery buffed (already were OP, and are now even stronger)
-Sorcery buffed (previously were more OP than archery....why buff?!)
-Melee still getting the poop kicked out of it.
-Toughness added to some gear (pvp damage resistance) <===argueably the most negative change according to the community of Alpha. Any time they split pve and pvp into two different progression paths pvp normally gets pooped on.
-Removed gold-reward for trade runs. <===Trade runs are now worthless. Gilda only has so many uses, and after the first month becomes pointless.
-Intercontinental trade runs now only give a MAX of 5 gilda stars per run (ie: run from one end of the world ot the other for 5 gilda stars...a 2+hr long run/ride/sail)....and you can get ganked by pirates/enemy players and lose your trade pack (ie: fail completely). Did I mention trade-ships cost 400 gilda stars, and gilda stars are no-trade?
List goes on and on and on and on an on....go read the PUBLIC reddit that contains all this info. It's actually very very very sad and disappointing.
cuz they are charging 100+$ to play their game and they label it as "alpha" not to mention alot of pvers wanted pve in a dominated pvp game..the game fell flat in 2 other countrys imo id go for beta but to my knowledge thats not free either
I don't know what you're on but every game that has both PvE and PvP every time the PvP crowd whines a class, skill or build is OP it gets nerfed and the PvE side of the game suffers.
That definitely doesn't sound too good. Hopefully they aren't doing the changes to the NA and EU versions of the game, but then again Trion is just publishing the thing.
One or two skills get nerfed because they don't work well in PvP and the the PvEers cry and cry and cry, meanwhile 95% of the development budget goes into making new PvE content and the PvEers still aren't satisfied.
Good to hear its almost launch.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
July 17?
At this day i have better thinks to do Destiny beta i come
Nah, Trion is making changes also. Localisation in AA's case means a bit more than just "we're translating it for 1 year+".
As for the Korean update...yeh, doesn't sound too good, but Trion has the power to implement what they want and well...one can hope. Hope is pretty much the only thing keeping me (and some of the dudes in the guild I'm at) playing MMOs, what with how they turn out these days.
Your list in not accurate at all. Not sure where you made this up, but it is simply wrong.
Obviously you have never played the game.
You still get gold for trade runs to your continent. I know this because my guild and I do that and it is quite lucrative.
5 gild/run per pack is fine. (this fluctuates btw, depending on pack/how many have been turned in etc) With a merch ship you can carry 20 pack on the boat and a pack on each persons back. 20X5 = 100 so 100 guilda per run is a pretty good take. Obviously this is not guaranteed, but bring along your guild for protection and it is a pretty easy to do. Again, I know this because my guild does it.
The down time, does suck. Archers were never OP, mages were. Mages can't stand around one shotting people any more, they did not get buffed, they got a slight nerf, add in the mana re-gen and they are pretty normalized right now. Archers needed a serious buff and they got it. Again thier only issue is the mana regen, they are in no way OP. Melee is just fine. Not sure where you can that BS but they do quite well and one of the better classes for PvP is a melee class. So again, inaccurate.
Instead of quoting what is obviously a bunch of whining, crying posts made by some players on a troll site how about you find out for yourself? Or maybe don't post at all until you have some actual knowledge of the game you are talking about. Because you obviously have no idea in this instance.
To the point, the latest patch was not the best idea imo. There were some changes that needed to be made, unfortunately they made some that really did not need to be made. Over all I believe it will help the longevity of the game.
If you want a new idea, go read an old book.
In order to be insulted, I must first value your opinion.
I think it's more to do with the fact that it has been out for so long.
It's not just you. It's been several years since i first heard of ArcheAge, then it fell off the radar for a very long time. It's been in "testing" for years now. I was semi-interested, until i saw that traditional questing is there, even though everyone claims it's a "sandbox", even though there's typical dungeons, and traditional "themepark" elements. I don't see how anyone can say this is a sandbox MMO. Not only that, but the combat looks old too. This was obviously being developed before the "action-mmo craze" that swept the genre over the last several years. I just don't see how it's going to compete with that. Also, the f2p restrictions on housing is going to turn a lot of pve players away. I understand their reasoning, but they could've came up with some measures to combat "f2p squatters". Trion's famous, "No Tricks, No Traps", philosophy doesn't apply to ArcheAge either, as it did with Rift.
Great news, finally.
I will be on holidays after 15th, far away from internets and gamming (only time on the year i read some books), hope when back home in 1st August i see even better news around (like some release date)
Are quests bread crumb style? Does the leveling have a grind feel or offer fair xp through quests, group instances and pvp? Do new learned abilities add excitement to the hot bar or we get 3 or 4 buttons to mash over and over ala Wildstar? I'm interested in the game but honestly have been getting more and more turned off in how mmos are turning out. I enjoyed ESO, but honestly it didn't properly encourage grouping and thus it's veteran levels ended up too much for those that grew accustomed to the leveling play style. Wildstar just hasn't been able to get it's hooks into me, to much fight repetition, not enough ingenuity. Will this be much different?
For me? Because I paid $59.99 for Defiance when it launched. I will not be fooled again by this joke of a company.
