I'm not sure if the free weekend coming up applies to people without a registered service account or not.  You do get 30 days free to play the game before subscription kicks in though, you just have to pay the box fee.  Not sure if any sales are going on right now or not.

No free trial, however the game was on sale a few weeks ago on Amazon for $12. I'm not sure if it's still on sale. You get 30 days free no credit card info required. That's your trial.

    Currently Playing: ESO and FFXIV
    Have played: You name it

It looks like it's 15.95 for PC on Amazon right now, which is about the cost of subscribing for a month.  (Plus you get the free month)

Ok but it isn't dying because the box price is so low?

The game is thriving right now.  Lots of people are coming back to the patch that released last week, plus I'm seeing lots of new characters running around on my server.

I'm not sure what Amazon's and other retailers' strategies are in terms of having a low box price, but I'm sure at this point SE has more than exceeded their expectations for box sales.  What they want now are more long term subscribers.

This is the most people I have seen in an MMO in years. The player base is massive.

If I go by history, it'll probably be active from Friday morning to Monday morning.  There'll probably be an official post on the Lodestone website in a day or two.

This is one small tiny area at Limsa and it was a slow night. Imagine every hub littered with players like this but times ten. I think the game does fine on it's own. Also I heard on other servers it's worse. So many people around it's hard to see the vendors lol.

I'll re post a screenshot on Friday when every hub everywhere is slap ass full of players. Here's to fighting to get to the summoning bell !!

I recently started playing the game as I managed to find it for cheaper than a months sub fee -£7. I can recommend a website which I use from time to time to buy cd keys for steam but I am not sure if we are allowed to do it. A lot do steam users use it and it's all over their forums. The game there cost like 9-10 dollars instant delivery of key which you can use to activate your account.

I re purchased through steam so I just sub using the steam wallet. I rarely use the mog station. Plus it's safer than getting "keys" to put in when you could just put 12.99$ in steam. It applies it straight to your SE account. That's kinda what it's for lol. Granted i'm paying more than 9-10 dollars. But 12.99$ and 14.99$ are the normal sub fee's anyway lol.

Last I played it was still pretty well populated. Can't wait for the free weekend, been dying to play again but couldn't afford the subscription. As soon as I have some reliable income, I'll most likely be subbing again.

Between this, Divinity Original Sin, Marvel Heroes, Diablo 3, and the Gigantic alpha (when it arrives) it's going to be a busy summer for gaming.

AN' DERE AIN'T NO SUCH FING AS ENUFF DAKKA, YA GROT! Enuff'z more than ya got an' less than too much an' there ain't no such fing as too much dakka. Say dere is, and me Squiggoff'z eatin' tonight!

We are born of the blood. Made men by the blood. Undone by the blood. Our eyes are yet to open. FEAR THE OLD BLOOD.

It's not dying at all. I picked it up again last week and every where I walk I see other players. Chat is overly active and a lot of Free Companies (guilds) are actively recruiting. Also, selecting a server (fully rerolled and now playing on the EU datacenter) was a problem as well because half of the servers were locked for new characters - think that says something as well...

Yeah, I normally buy directly from steam. However, the game costs $25 on steam unless you wait for a sale :D

It is true that you don't know where those "keys" come from but I don't think steam revoke cd-keys unless you have activated russian keys or some other third world discounted keys. But you can't really do that without using VPN which is illegal :D

Anyways, the OP should just buy it and decide for themselves if they like the game :) I am enjyoing it so far.
