Our problem is that the OP claims to have a running engine, yet refuses to post any video or even screenshot of it.
Your problem is lack of reading comprehension. They have a scheduled list of releases for media.
They have NOT refused anything but simply come here and said 'Hi world, we are producing a game and here is what we have so far with a schedule of release'.
It's a bit like a car vendor telling you you can't see the car yet, but it's amazing.
If you went to Porche and asked to buy a custom designed car would you get it right away of have to wait for it to be built and delivered? I mean just because it looks good in the brochure....
I actually like helping out indie devs. I recently gave my money to "Blockscape" (look it up on Steam). But when I give my money, I want the proof that the concept is already something that exists, not some concept that will never be turned into reality. Here, we have ZERO proof that this project passed the "write ideas on a notebook" stage.
So don't give any money till it meets your requirements!!!
If you're interested, I have dozens of pages written with ideas about a sandbox MMORPG that I have collected during the last 20 years. I can also sell them to you for $30, without them ever becoming a real game. See what I mean now?
So have I. I even did a game design course. Your point?
If I actually do choose to develop one of my idea's into a game Then I would be doing exactly the same as the OP. Make the game and hold of with publication or advertisement till it is ready and then, produce a website, release the schedule, provide information according to the schedule and then put the game up for sale when ready. This is what I see here.
Goodluck tho to bad this game isn't for me cause i m so bored and looking for a good sandbox , to bad all the up and coming are trash like always why can't a AAA dev make a proper sandbox for me...
Where did I refuse to release videos? Geez, I started this thread 5 hours ago and really was expected to just debate ideas and design stuff. I seriously wasn´t expecting to have to have floor space reserved at Blizzcon in order to talk about the ideas we are putting into our game.
We have creature artwork all over our site, We have landscape videos on our site. I have about 10,000 pages of design notes on the site and I have the release schedule for our ingame videos on the site. We have everything systematically prepared for our launch next July.
Nobody is asking you for money. I am sorry that you gave away money in the past to games that never launched, but from the first moment I started this thread I have been telling people not to pre-order, that it isn´t the focus or purpose of this thread.

I'm pretty sure you have an equally smart explanation of why the registered phone number doesn't exist. I don't mean, you don't answer (which would be understandable for a week end), but just doesn't exist at all.
Holy smoke, I'm not saying this isn't a scam, but you are grasping for straws right now. Calm down and wait or just ignore it. Stop spamming this thread with your conspiracy theories.

It's the way the website is laid out... the very first thing you see is something about a subscription and a blurb about pre-order. It really isn't all that clear as to what the $29.99 (may be wrong amount quoted here) and then $5 per month is all about. You should put that sort of information on another page... payment model. Right now it screams, send us money first with the game itself muted in the background.
Goodluck tho to bad this game isn't for me cause i m so bored and looking for a good sandbox , to bad all the up and coming are trash like always why can't a AAA dev make a proper sandbox for me...
Finally, this is what I wanted.
1. There are a ton of sandbox pvp games being produced, Repopulation, Gloria Victis ( awesome game). Do you know what there isn´t? There isn´t a ´trammel´ game. All the crafting, all the player economy, all the ideas of building everything based on players activities.
2. Tab-targeting - fair enough if you don´t like it. We are going for slow combat where you react to the animations you see from the other character and do not have to mash buttons. Think of our combat as the anti-diablo. It is ok, Diablo is a great game, but not every game needs to have a .5 second GCD where you have to press a buttong before your character even starts the animation from the last button you pressed.
3. I personally would love to see how Blizzard would handle making a sandbox open-world PVP game. Much to debate, but I think an open-world pvp game is self-limiting because the sheep with disappear and gradually the weakest wolves will become the new sheep, and so on and so on. But it is really a debate for the ages.
Our game revolves around pushing into new lands, building forts to defend those lands and working together with other players to build up the city based on the features you want to unlock. Could we force PVP on top of it.. maybe.. but pvp games are best left to games that devote themselves to pvp.. There are already too many pve games that try to tack pvp on the top of it just to say they have it.

Yet, during the whole time, we still don't have a single proof that the game is more that just a few lines of ideas on a page of paper.
I'm indeed going to "stop spamming", as you say, because I think me but also other people have said what had to be said about this highly suspicious new game.
And now I make a promise... if the author of the thread proves that the game exists, that it's good and playable, I will give not $30, but $60 to it immediately, without thinking twice. And I will of course make public appologies here for doubting it and recommend the game to other readers.
I really would like to see you in this thread talking about our ideas for the game. I always respected your opinion (I´ve been on this site for many years).
While this is a great site, you really think my intention was to post a thread here to ´quickly´ scam people before you figured out my deception? Even if I was as diabolical as you think.. what would that net me? one or two pre-orders? There are´t thousands of people on this forum, and certainly not at 6am in the morning.

Then please tell us why you don't release a single real pre-alpha gameplay video? You know, just to show that you aren't just all words, but that you have solid ground to build onto for your so promising game?
It wouldn't hurt, you know... just one character running through some landscape, without any buildings or whatever else, just showing you've got the engine nailed and that your game is more than just concepts.
If you've been around here for years as you say, you must understand why we find this suspicious. So I am assuming groups would break off into resource gathering, killing mobs, clearing the area and splitting jobs up, am I on the right track?
That actually sounds really good to me, I would assume there would be player discussions on the forums before hand to draw up a plan of attack on release or maybe a special private sub forum for the first 1000 to talk freely among themselves and plan on who will be helping in what area or will it just be chaos on launch and every man, woman and child for themselves to organise whatever they want?
I like the fact that it sounds boring, which may sound funny but it really is sandbox in nature and it is completely up to the players to help shape the world, explore it, discover it, map it and build on it while getting better at things you like doing and defending your creations, constantly, not just a "build a house/fort and it's safe forever" type of game, it will always be constantly evolving and changing directions with trade links etc, it sounds great!

I'm going to have to agree with JLP and the rest. No one has heard of it, there's no sign of any game, and you're asking people to pay $30 based on the all-too-familiar wishlist of sandbox features.
Haha you make it sound like a pain to have to agree with me, old pal ;-)
Chris Roberts produced absolutely NOTHING but a few pictures of ships that anyone could do and not even have a game, yet people were praising and jumping on that bandwagon.
Chris has over 40 million dollars for a game that does not exist, everything he has produced is over a YEAR and all he has to show is the work that 2-3 people could pull off in a couple months.
I guess my point is ,yes it is ok to be skeptical of ALL businesses but that ids the point, none of these kickstarters or free handout games are anymore legit.
Let's wait and see,the concept and ideas do sound really good to me,i hope this game amounts to something.

I can assure you one thing, Calor, no matter if you are honest or not.
If you didn't ask for $30 to enter a non existing alpha/beta, nobody here would have doubted you as we did. I know I would not have, and would have waited for more information.
You can't offer a pre-order without an actual product. That's what you did, for a quite high price too (Minecraft was cheaper and had actual proof of its existence).
We are very comfortable with July 2015 as a launch date. If we wanted to, we could hype the crap out of our game, throw up all kinds of junk and do a scam launch in January... and produce enough of a ´game´ that would cover our butts as far as ´pre-order´ goes. You and I both know games that have done that.
I would hope the fact that we are drastically limiting the number of people who can play the game at launch means that we are really counting on those few players to have a great experience so they sell the game for us. This is how EVE did it, and we felt it was the best way. If we launch a crap game, only very few players will know it, and they will slam us, and then we won´t get any other players.
We did this on purpose because we all have played too many games that went for a huge launch and pushed their development to the point where they sell a million boxes, launch an incomplete game and lose 80% of their players after the first month.

You say we can see enviromental videos in the media sections, as you suggest on there some videos of the assests you will be using.. but if the game is releasing at the time you say it is theres no need to copy paste unity 3d trailers and actually make some of ur own.

If the assets are purchased from the unity store what sort of extra permission is needed?
the real question is if Calor can produce a license for all the models that are on his site, since he would need one just to own them and just cause he owns the license as the owner said , he would need to do his own renders and not use his images which the website contains all images ripped from the unity store website. Why not render your own images instead of taking them from the store site?

What I earn as a developer is still way more than what a burger flipper would earn. Not sure what your point is here.
I've been doing software related to real time graphics these last 25 years. I'm not a game specialist, but I know when someone claiming to be one is spewing nonsense.
My comment was directed at the more vile comments with no game developer knowledge, not yours, I should of been more specific but I didn't want to mention names and get banned.

He has already answered that question several times.
What is the point of re-inventing the wheel. If someone is selling an asset in the store why not buy it, especially if it is good and they can spend time focused elsewhere.
Hell, why use Unity rather then design and produce your own engine if you want to use that argument. It isn't really a thinker!

This game sounds great, I have just finished reading through all of the topics on the website and wow, if you guy's can pull off a sandbox game like this that is PvP free, I will not only be impressed but I be one of the first 1000.
I am looking forward to september the 7th, the first press release and the bi-weekly Dev blogs/videos thereafter, the assets from Michael O look awesome, I have seen a bit of his work before when searching for Unity packs for another game I am interested in.

Best of luck Calor and the team
Chris Roberts produced absolutely NOTHING but a few pictures of ships that anyone could do and not even have a game, yet people were praising and jumping on that bandwagon.
Chris has over 40 million dollars for a game that does not exist, everything he has produced is over a YEAR and all he has to show is the work that 2-3 people could pull off in a couple months.
I guess my point is ,yes it is ok to be skeptical of ALL businesses but that ids the point, none of these kickstarters or free handout games are anymore legit.
Let's wait and see,the concept and ideas do sound really good to me,i hope this game amounts to something.

funny story i've contacted the people who own the art work that you have displayed on your website and they are contacting you right now about how you have not had their permission to use any of it. Conversation can be seen here as I ask the owners of their art work.

If the assets are purchased from the unity store what sort of extra permission is needed?
Right there with you.
We did this on purpose because we all have played too many games that went for a huge launch and pushed their development to the point where they sell a million boxes, launch an incomplete game and lose 80% of their players after the first month.

the real question is if Calor can produce a license for all the models that are on his site, since he would need one just to own them and just cause he owns the license as the owner said , he would need to do his own renders and not use his images which the website contains all images ripped from the unity store website. Why not render your own images instead of taking them from the store site?

My comment was directed at the more vile comments with no game developer knowledge, not yours, I should of been more specific but I didn't want to mention names and get banned.
He has already answered that question several times.
What is the point of re-inventing the wheel. If someone is selling an asset in the store why not buy it, especially if it is good and they can spend time focused elsewhere.
Hell, why use Unity rather then design and produce your own engine if you want to use that argument. It isn't really a thinker!
