Hindsight is 20/20
This is not hindsight at all. We all know that free to play games are anything but free to play. In fact, they are the most expensive games to play. To enjoy the game you have to buy a lot of cash shop stuff. They make you NEED it. You have to have it. They build the addiction and you need it more. Now you are spending 2000- a year on a game! How did that happen?
YOU CAN GET A REFUND UP TO 90 DAYS no matter what. I purchased one and got a refund 3 weeks later. Stop spreading lies if someone paid $100 2 weeks ago they can request a refund and just rebuy it.
There are no refunds. SOE made that perfectly clear. That was only for alpha. Don't you think I tried to get a refund. lol
When they sell an incomplete product under the promises that what you buy is not only the instant access but eventually the fully finished product, in game perks and all that, they should be FORCED by law to give out a refund if asked before what you paid for is delivered completely. (or refund partially)
Not only because it is unfinished but also because it sometimes takes much longer then anticipated or promised, they change a lot of game mechanics that isnt always what you were first told when you bought it.
These compagnies are being so shady nowdays.
Say you pre order a nice sport car and they decide to change the model completely and send you a freaking utility car... Wouldnt that be a hell of a scam? Same thing going on here.
There is a huge difference between a pre-order and pre-purchase. This purchase of packs gives you early access, while a regular pre-order gives you the product once its finished.
In both cases any game that you have pre ordered in the past were cancellable and refundable before it was delivered. I have never known a store that didnt cancel their pre purchase or pre order. Even games like ESO and Wildstar would refund after a week of time played if you werent happy with the game.
Now thats good compagnies right there, a complete difference to shady soe and trions. Thats why i am loyal to ESO right now, wildstar not my type.
Paying for Early access feels more like paying for a service than paying for a product. You don't pay for the future game, you pay to access the current game, especially when it comes to a f2p-game.
I do agree though, P2P is more honest, f2p is far more shady.
Iselin: And the next person who says "but it's a business, they need to make money" can just go fuck yourself.
OP, I had gotten a founders pack. Later they changed the min recommended specs( my lappy fell below it and trust me it was low FPS lol)). I requested a refund and got it no questions. You can always try for a refund, and perhaps try again at a later date....
Call their phone customer support. Explain the situation, that you purchased the $100 package just two weeks ago, and that you feel a bit upset that a sale followed so soon after. See if they will refund you the difference between the retail and sale price, or if they can give you some sort of credit on the account.
Just remember to be polite the person on the other side of the phone, it actually does help get what you want.
Thanks for posting this... didn't no steam sale was ON for Landmark. Will go out and buy NOW
Aztec has one for sale. For you ... just $100.
That was a low blow Opium. All I can do is take a loss.
Nah, Aztec. All you need do is call your credit card and tell them you weren't happy with the purchase and would like a refund. The credit card will take the hit.
It was a debit card so I do not think that will work. Will it?
Hmm ... that does make it a bit more difficult because now your bank is involved. Can't hurt to try though.
The sale really has very little to do with it being free to play. Heck even Elder Scrolls Online had sales like this. No matter when you buy any sort of product there is ALWAYS the risk it will be cheaper the next day. This isn't the companies fault in anyway. It isn't ripping off customers in anyway. It's just simply bad luck on your part. Happens to me now and than on steam. Buy a game only for it to be cheaper a few days later. This applies to all games, including early access.
As for the founders pack being limited? Ya .. it is limited still. The game has yet to release. Once the game is released the founders pack will be no more. That is limited. Thing you have to keep in mind is limited doesn't actually specify any length of time. All limited means is that it will not always be available and you will no longer be able to get it. Technically it means they can have founders pack even after launch as long as they discontinue it a few months in. Limited also doesn't mean it has to stay at 1 specific price point.
You have to realize people who purchase now are getting less than those who purchased earlier. Putting it on sale actually makes perfect sense to me with the game coming closer to release. You simply just had bad timing is all.
I think your anger is misdirected. You should be disappointed in yourself and not SOE. I've made stupid purchases in the past, bought games for full price and only played about 10 minutes of them. I have never directed my anger at the game company but myself. I rarely regret a purchase, but when I do its my own fault. I know the types of games I like and enjoy and the types I don't. I also know that eventually all games will drop in price. I bought into the alpha version of Archeage. I don't like pvp centric games, but I paid way to much for a game that will eventually free to play. Do I regret it? A bit, although I enjoyed the game well enough, it wasn't for me. But I don't blame the publisher, I blame myself for my lapse in judgement. I willl probably make more silly purchases, but I'll get over it.

Yes if you have a problem with those two things you should know better, as you might as well say "I knew I'd hate it but I bought it anyway".
As for the rest of what you've said thus far, that's the way the cookie crumbles, if you're worried about getting things at a discount, wait for a discount, as they can happen at any time.
Buying anything at full price runs you the risk of missing the chance to buy at a discount. No matter if that discount comes two years later or 2 hours later.

Exactly THIS. The best quote in the whole thread. I agree completely because it's happened to me.
I threw $100 at a game that would be F2P but I couldn't wait a few weeks. I made a dumb decision but I've moved on.
anyone who wants to put down 100-150 on a game that is NOT out yet, needs to talk to me,i have this beach front property in kansas for sale. you knew the price you bought it.life happens,at that time you must have thought it was worth that much.
lol I can't wait to hear what "founders" who paid for the game say when the game launches....If they are mad at 66% off, I wonder how mad they will be when the game is 100% off (F2P lol)
Look at how much computers were in the 80's, man those people would be pissed if they saw the computer they can get now for a 10th of the price. Man, screw things getting cheaper... I hope my grampa comes back from the dead and takes his vengeance out on the computing world for his poorly timed purchase and inability to time travel or to accept the basic logic that things tend to get cheaper after release.
Originally posted by Aztec SOE just ripped off all the founders of the game by making a 66% off sale for all founders packs. Most of these people paid 100- bucks for something that is now 33-. SOE does not even care and is covering up the rage on their forums by banning everyone who speaks negatively about the 66% off sale. One would think that SOE would not be so stupid as to alienate their loyal customers but they are. I just left them for good as this is probably how they will handle most situations, poorly.
You honesty sound like you should not be buying alphas. Ever.
There is only 1 reason to ever pay for an alpha. And that's if you believe in the project and want to help support it getting off the ground.
If you truly are that person, then you shouldn't care how much other people spend on the game, because you're happy to have supported the project. If you aren't that person, then what in hell are you doing spending money on a game that's not even close to finished yet? There are any number of things that can go wrong, or change between now and launch. Things that are completely out of your hands.
I don't find myself defending Sony often, but this is kind of ridiculous. They have the right to put their products on sale. You are not entitled to get something for the updated price of a sale, because you were too impatient or impulsive to wait. It doesn't work that way for any other product in the world, so why should video games magically be different?
They've already refunded a bunch of founders packs because they screwed up the system reqs. The sale is more than likely their attempt to recoup some of those losses.

So you are mad that you and the rest of the founders have been in the alpha for months now and people who pay the lowered cost is essentially getting a third of what you have already gotten and you are outraged?
The whole concept of paying into a game in alpha is shady as hell.
Are people really surprised that as time went by prices dropped to attract larger numbers or that more people were allowed access? It's not as if this hasn't happened before elsewhere.
The companies today are only doing what they believe they will get away with. The players are the ones endorsing this behavior and until they stop why the hell are people expecting businesses to not take advantage of them?
Moral outrage means nothing if it's taking place whilst throwing money at such products.

I have no problem with realistic people, spending whatever they want, on whatever they want. It's those who react this way (OP) I just do not understand, as Arakazi said, it's only on the buyer when these things happen, there's no one else to blame. You are correct but there are apparently enough ignorant people to exploit that it makes no sense for them to play nice.
The reason why the MMO industry got so bad is because players today are so naive. Some of the replies trying to justify SoE are just pathetic. SoE simply do not have a clue on how to make money without alienating their customers, just look at its history. Trion charged £ 150 for Archeage Alpha, the game releases in about a month time and they didn't discount their founder pack, they've been honest with their early supporters. $oE on the other hand can't think straight, it is all about making short term money, they never think on the long term. They are very bad at marketing their products, they never learn.

Yes, but chargeback for what reason? It was not an unauthorized charge.

no you payed more cause you were first to play it.
its peoples choise,if you know a game is going to drop its price in a view months why moan.
don't just buy games try and watch and wait and see, lots of games are not worth it how long is it going to take players to learn that fact?
