Do you consider Open World Ganking (and or) Camping , to be a form of trolling?

In MMOs with Open World Player vs Player combat systems, would ganking players that may be doing other task, or even camping some player for any given reason be a form of trolling to you?

    I think it's childish but I don't think it's trolling.  Totally different things.

    Played: UO, EQ, WoW, DDO, SWG, AO, CoH, EvE, TR, AoC, GW, GA, Aion, Allods, lots more
    Relatively Recently (Re)Played: HL2 (all), Halo (PC, all), Batman:AA; AC, ME, BS, DA, FO3, DS, Doom (all), LFD1&2, KOTOR, Portal 1&2, Blink, Elder Scrolls (all), lots more

    It depends on the game and the mechanics of combat, resources and territory control.

    Not trolling but it can be harassment.  If they camp you for a long time or gank you over and over.

    If you sign on a PvP server, you have to expect some ganking and camping in my opinion.

    You instead should of asked if killing other people on a PVE server is considered trolling, then things would really start getting weird.

    Would this hypothetical mmo be full loot or just open world pvp? Plenty of justifications for camping and ganking when your pixels are at stake :P Also are you defining gank as jumping someone with less skill or a lower level? Or just jumping someone with no warning.

    I'd rather face an enemy squarely and fight like men to the end.   Cowards stab in the back or bring buddies to a one on one fight. One of the reasons Eve is such a craptacular game is because people melt down into the lowest form of play,  there's no honor or sport for the most part.   All the imagination the zit faced neckbearded bullies can muster is sitting in front of a gate with a pack of bully buddies and wring their hands together and giggle when someone warps a taxi in front of them.  I really can't imagine what kind of man sits there and thinks of that as entertaining.  That's exactly the definition of troll.

    Call it a bucket of blue jelly beans, it won't matter. Most people avoid it and if that means avoiding the game entirely, that's the one people will opt in for.

    No, absolutely not!! that kind of thing only happens in pvp servers or games, when players play in that kind of environment they must prepare for something like that.  gameplay wise it is not trolling, it is just a tactic. whether the ganker or camper is mentally unstable or not is a different matter.

    No, of course not if it is within a games mechanics and rules to allow players to behave this way.  I just won't be playing it.

    I used to play WoW before Wrath came out. I played a high level Warlock on a PvP server. I used to farm bag recipes and that usually meant farming creatures that would give faction. I was farming creatures one day and was close to getting my new bag recipe.

    This low level rogue came to where I was. I was higher level than the zone. I killed him at least a dozen times. I left  when my faction was high enough. I wasn't doing it to be mean or make him mad, I just wanted my new bag option lol.

    You may want to look up the internet/gaming definition of trolling before making a post. I think you are trolling.

    If you drop $59.99 on a game and $15.00 a month and the game says it has PvP and you assume no one will ever attack you in the game ever, you're going to have a bad time and you're doing it wrong(life).

    Don't be terrorized! You're more likely to die of a car accident, drowning, fire, or murder! More people die every year from prescription drugs than terrorism LOL!

    They don't have to be.  If there are lore based reasons, faction-on-faction reasons, I don't think it is harassment.

    But if people are doing it because they are bored and want to haze n00bs, then yeah...these folks ought to find better, more constructive, things to do.

    most of time I think the ganker is a damn anbnoying noob, but a lot more the ganked is the damn noob, you kown pretty well he will be there waiting and you run back there like a bot to do it again, and hardly ask for guildies of friends to hunt the ganker down and kill him

    Corpse camping has been around for 20+ years it is not trolling but is considered grieving and can be reported.

    No trolling is when you pick a pvp game/server and expect it to only happen on your terms.

    lol. I find this "bushido" style of gamer hilarious. We know what people are like and what they will do to get their kicks.

    Who is the troll? The guy who rolled on a pvp server so he could get some ganks in while leveling or when there wasn't much else to do at the time. Or is it the guy who rolls on a pvp server expecting everyone to follow his honor code. Whining each and everytime he gets ganked on a pvp server or in a open world pvp game.

    We are playing games, not simulating feudal japan.
