Originally posted by Aztec SOE just ripped off all the founders of the game by making a 66% off sale for all founders packs. Most of these people paid 100- bucks for something that is now 33-. SOE does not even care and is covering up the rage on their forums by banning everyone who speaks negatively about the 66% off sale. One would think that SOE would not be so stupid as to alienate their loyal customers but they are. I just left them for good as this is probably how they will handle most situations, poorly.
SOE should be called S___head Online Entertainment... rip offs.
SWG, POTBS, Vanguard... this is where mmo go to die; SOE.
I dont know whether it is player unfriendly policies, or just generally s))) attitudes towards gamers vs profits.
Glad Ive only blown 20 bucks on the landmark. Not gonna expect much, as I aint seen much. SOE has a long way to go before they win the gaming communities trust. So count me as unsurprised. I am an optimist at heart though, so lets hope they change for the better soon, and let EQ Next be the flagship item they do this with!:)
We are the Founding Fathers in this virtual world in which we create. As such it seems we must do what our Founding Fathers had to do.. in order to let our fellow gamers have a fair shake.
Patience is a virtue ! It sucks when it happens thats why there are many people waiting for moments like this. You pay premium for 1st day sales then it starts to drop and drop and drop
Nothing you can do about it, altough if i would have bought a tv and it went on sale the next day i would seriously pick that tv up and get a full refund and slap that tv seller around his ears telling him why the fuck dint he told me the day before :P
Should I get angry because the car I paid $10,000 for 5 years ago is only worth $2000? Things depreciate, get used to it.
Also stopping playing because they had a sale? Said no one ever.
Bet you're online right now.
Actually, I deleted the game and have not played since the incident. When this 66% off thing came up literally thousands of people on the landmark website were furious and rightly so. Many had made recent purchases within a week or 2 weeks. Mine was a week, now that I look back at it. The worse part is that SOE did not even listen to the concerns. All this did was start systematically locking threads on the subject and start banning people from the forum that kept posting about it. That more than the sale infuriated many. I figured if that is how they do business and dealt with clients I did not want any part of it. So I did my credit card charge back and split. Many other people suggested the same course of action. There was not one person on any of those posts that sided with SOE which is why I was surprised that so many people here side with the corporates.
I never thought I'd say this... But I'm actually proud of the people on these forums for understanding and defending SOE. This sort of thing happens literally all the time in life. I'm sorry you feel so upset by it that you're willing to give up on an amazing game.

You are the one who paid for it and gave you everything you agreed to at the purchase that you committed to. The only person ripping off someone is you. Your credit card company will see that though, too bad you cant get charged for trying to make an unlawful chargeback.
That's Soe for you just like how they ruined eq2 and lost all of there loyal p2p members when they told them they would never ever put a cash shop into the live servers look at that piece of shit game now.. (Horrible)
This is minecraft with better graphics and I wouldn't support it for free. Not with soe behind it.
I wonder is there a cash shop in this game also ripping people off? Let me guess..

I don't think there's much else to say.
They should not be proud. They set back consumer protection a notch in the video game genre. Now that these companies know you will accept this they will do it again and again a screw you with a smile. See a real store out of common courtesy will automatically refund you the sale difference if you bought an item for more in a certain time period. They do this because they are smart and understand every word in the phrase customer service. 1st they know customers want the deals and will feel cheated if they just bought and item and it goes on sale days later. So they give you that partial refund no questions asked. People too are like corporations in that they are always looking after their financial bottom line. Major stores for example know that statistically most people will cancel a transaction on their credit card if a sale price drops soon after they bought an item. To prevent this from happening they allow the rebate because it is a win win. The business did lose a little profit but not the sale and they made their customer happy. That customer will come back and buy more. This is what SOE failed to take into account, basic salesmanship 101. Then they make it worse by blaming the customer when it is their ignorance that got them in trouble in the first place. As far a charge backs are concerned I am no different than the rest of America statistically speaking when it comes to charge backs. I have only done 2 in my life time which is actually far below the average. If you feel ripped off or do not like your product or something went bad that is why we have consumer protection laws and why you can do charge backs. It is to protect you from the unscrupulous acts of big business and thieves. The only reason you would not like consumer protection is if you were big business.

You are factually incorrect. Chargebacks are to protect the consumer from fraudulent charges, which your purchase was not.

Or unusable items, which is not the case either. His credit card company wont help so it doesnt matter. They know the laws better than him.

Funny, all I ever say to the credit card people is I am not happy with the sale. Nothing else. They always take care of it.
If indeed a lot of people are outraged it seems just bad luck on SOE attracting a lot of entitled players who feel they own the game.
Its not like they are arguing to a different treatment in game but an 'entrance' fee. And if you wanted to get another founders pack you would have the same opportunity as others.
That is why I believe imo, this outrage over the price to a sale on the founders pack is not something I would agree with.
You are entitled to your opinion. And can vote with your wallet, but apparently asking your credit company to take money back on something you agreed to and used as a service is not something you are entitled to get money back from.
Also the sale will bring in more players.
Write bad things that are done to you in sand, but write the good things that happen to you on a piece of marble
Just a few questions: when you are the one who benefits from the sale, would you say anything? Would you say it's not fair to the people who bought the same item a week ago and ask the seller to charge you the original price? Would you question why would the seller lower their price so you can buy it cheaper than someone else? It always seems perfectly normal when you are the one who gain benefits, right?
Also, early access games sale are nothing new. Lots of early access games on steam go on sale all the time. I bought Grim Dawn a few weeks ago during their summer sale. Founder packs are just early access with a few more perks. FYI I bought a founder pack before it went on sale as well, and when I saw the sale I was like meh..
Finally got a hold of Sony's main lawyer today on the phone and spoke with him directly about my concerns. He took sometime to look into my case and got back to me in an hour. He said SOE was truly sorry and that I should not have had to go through that. He said they do have a policy that if something went on sale within 7 days of buying it your are entitled to a refund of the difference. He gave me a full refund instead. SOE made good in the end and that is all that matters at this point. Bravo for SOE.

I do not believe their main lawyer spoke to you over this. At most a CSR was instructed to refund so they can just close your account and be done with a consumer like you.
The fact that you said you repeatedly use charge backs makes me dislike you even more.
Hopefully the credit card company sees this abuse and decides to cancel you credit card. And puts it on your credit report.

haha yeah I don't believe him for a second. And didn't he say he bought it two weeks before the sale? That would put him outside the 7 day period. Plus I have to imagine the sale happening outside of SoE's own website accounts for something.
LOL even when confronted with the truth you do not see the light. So that would be your problem not mine. The days were actually 10 days (corrected) and they decided to cut me some slack. Here is the lawyer I talked to (very nice guy): https://www.soe.com/bios/ANDREW_ZAFFRON.pdf I looked up his number up on the net easily once I had the address for their law offices. Took a few tries to get through but he eventually answered. This is how the story ended whether you like it or not. You just have to talk to the right people is all. Mr. Zaffron was the right guy with the power to make a change.
Im inclined to agree with Aztec, This is a founder pack we are talking about here not just a game. I think it is rather disrespectful for a company to sell founder packs for 100 dollars and then throw them on sale to make a quick buck. Kind've a slap in the face. That said, it doesnt bother me none because I really had no interest in Landmark.
The entire point of a founder pack is to show that you cared about the game more than others. You buy the 100 dollar pack to be better than those scrubs who buy the 50 dollar or 20 dollar packs. But now... those scrubs bought the pack you bought for 33 dollars... !!!!!!!!! Bigtime slap in the face. Thats really all there is to it. <--This is what founder packs are btw... Just be patient and wait.. *shrugs*
Yeah. Buying a founders pack is supposed to make you feel more important than the people that didn't get one. Now, instead of making you feel $100 better than everyone else, the other people may not even believe that you spent $100 on a founders pack. Or worse - someone could actually lie about it and act like they are as good as someone that spent $100, but really they only spent $33. How are you supposed to feel better than other people if the social status lines are so blurred?

So are we to be similarly outraged with other game titles when ever there is a Steam sale?
