Its neither e-sport pvp, nor territory control game. What exactly makes you think that its pvp game?

Castle Siege is basically 1 big thing if you dont go pirate but how is it not a pvp game?

the only places you can hide is nui stones.. and +30 area if not in peace time are open for pvp even the ones that arent 30+ lvl area's if you see a western in the eastern lvl 5 area you can attack and kill him..

There is nothing pve about this game.. the dungeons are there just for getting a bit of gear until you can craft your gear to hold you off.. everything else in the game revolves around getting honor and getting your title, owning a Castle, Causing Havoc..

I personally love the game I am not playing anymore in alpha b/c I dont want to get burnt on it.. but mastering a class is going to be fun..

Started as a Darkrunner then switch to Prime Evil(archer) back to Darkrunner with a 2hander this time and the 1v1 arena's are fun but needs rebalanced, open world pvp in auroria ganking people for farm spots is another fun aspect..

next time you in game click on the northern part.. and click an area Idk if anyone got that far in beta to see if anyone owns a spot but each area in 1 big area guilds can own that area

at the end of the month you can attack the winner either decides to demo everything and take the money I believe or leave it alone and let the money build up even higher..

at times in alpha the 1 area my farms are in that is owned my NUI got to about 6k gold

Level to 30 to 50 areas I get attacked or attach quite frequently, seems like a PVP game to me.

Every time my guild takes to the high seas we get chased by galleons and cutters as we try to transport our trade packs back and forth, seems like a PVP game to me.

Guild regularly goes out on hunts on the high seas and overland to attack enemy faction, seems like a pvp game to me.

While tending to the guild farms in northlands we regularly get attacked and attack back, seems like a pvp game to me.

What in your opinion OP makes something a PVP game?  Territory control?  While I enjoy that too, it isn't a singluar qualifier of a pvp game.

    - Level 1-90 in WoW (most generic themepark), I get attacked and I attack everytime - doesnt seem like a pvp game

    - We go with our guild and gank people in Battlegrounds - doesnt seem like a pvp game

    - While tending to my solo farm in pandaria I regularly get attacked and attack back - doesnt seem like a pvp game

Enabling pvp flag in every zone  doesnt make it a pvp game.

No but the ability to attack your own faction, steal supplies from other characters, the castle and siege modes, the ability to be a pirate, etc, do drive it to be more a PVP heavy game. There is almost no pure PVP game out their where all you do is fight each other.

At max level you cant do anything meaningful without exposing yourself to PvP

    Yes, yes it does.

Doesn't necessarily mean that people will PvP in it though, but forcing people to be attackable by other players absolutely makes it a PvP game.

Seems to me the OP is either simply trolling or else is some niche purist that believes that only "all-zone FFA-PVP" games can be called "PVP games".

its not a PvP or PvE game like you are used to. if you dont know the roots of MMO's and just know the typical generic MMO#s that focus on something and are pretty restricted AA will confuse use.

AA is actually a virtual world, a real MMORPG and you have to freedom to do what you want within the games rules. Thats why it is a Themebox or a Sandpark

You clearly haven't played the game (for a long time). There is territory control on the continent of Auroria, though it's not the kind of territory control you've seen in EVE or Lineage II. Also the fact that there are 3 factions and you can kill your own faction in level 30+ areas makes it a PvP game. Add to that the naval combat for trade packs (prolly the best PvP feature of the game!) and you have all ingredients to make it a PvP game...

Sorry, but I can get most of it in WoW / Wildstar / insert random PVE themepark.

PVP game is the game designed with pvp in mind. There needs to be incentive to do pvp, other than farming honor and farming kills for the sake of farming kills, glued on top of PVE mechanics. I dont see anything of that in AA, because theres no risk/reward, I cant lose anything I cant gain anything. Territory control is myth, siege is glorified battleground, sailing is PVE. And sorry, but random people ganking in leveling zones is not pvp either.

AA is as much of pvp game as was Age of Conan, Rift, SWTOR and all crap we get since WoW (they all had ganking enabled, yet they werent pvp games at all).

I dont see any special focus on pvp in AA. It uses PVP as excuse for not having PVE, but in reality it offers neither.

People PvP for resources (Trade Packs and Sport Fish) non stop. You also get to set taxes in the area you control on the northern continent which can make the guild that holds in very rich very quickly. So I guess it has pvp for both resource and territory.
