For the past few years I have been primairly on Rocktropia, but have been participating in events on Calypso for the last few months.
Came back to Rocktropia last week and really having a lot of fun again. My buddy and I are collecting and buying rotten bananas there to buy the Island they have for sale, so If you loot any look me up :P
We did 6+ Zombie Kong events over the weekend and did really well on saturday, probably my 4th best day in game ever. Several ~10k ped KONGs and I personaly looted 2 UFOs and an unlimited Snubnose pistol.
Then on sunday I tried out a new blueprint I had bought and looted a new discovery bp, so overall a great weekend for me ;P
Where have you guys been playing and what are your current goals?

Hiya,
over the last years i played mostly on Arkadia. I like the landscape and the spawns there. Most the time i hunt my favourite there Tiarak. When my PED card shows danger level ( normally after a bigger purchase ), Gallard and Carbok allow cheap hunting and to stack up PEDs on my card again.
When i am not on Arkadia i am on Calypso, mostly for trading or soc hunts.
Rocktropia somwhow does not appeal me, although i checked it out a couple of years ago. Maybe i need someone who shows me around there.

I like the fact that it is such a diverse sandbox, each planet seems to draw people that like it for some reason or another while the next planet might not seem as interesting to them.
If you do end up visitng Rock again, feel free to add me to your friendlist and I will show you around.
I haven't been to Arkadia since the Underground was added, what are your thoughts on it?
Are there any good mid level creature spawns to hunt there or is it mostly just mining?
I also heard there were some instances in the underground, I think I have a map peice or two there, they are used to enter the instances?
Playing with Real Money: Colonizing Virtual Worlds
Such an important yet missing piece to most modern MMOs. I'm willing to bet there's also noticeable diversity in the cultures of each community in EU, as well.
There isn't a "right" or "wrong" way to play, if you want to use a screwdriver to put nails into wood, have at it, simply don't complain when the guy next to you with the hammer is doing it much better and easier. - Allein

I hadn't really thought of it before but you are right, there are certainly different cultures or sub-cultures in the community someone based on where people play as well as other 'cultural' differences.
Would be kind of fun to study if i had the time, but I would rather spend my sparse free time playing right now ;P
Playing with Real Money: Colonizing Virtual Worlds
I think you might be very right on that one.
I am a born Calypsian, and I will probably be Calypsian for live. I love Calypso, it feels like home. Other planets just don't cut it for me. Arkadia does somewhat follow the Sci-fi theme I like, so it's doable but still... I don't feel at home there. Rocktropia is just way out of theme for me, and really doesn't appeal to me.
Planet Toulan looks quite appealing, but is still lacking content. Might become a holiday destination for me though, if it gets developed. Just hope people will respond kindly to English when it gets populated.
Well It is always nice when diversity is added to a game. That does not only apply to EU, but to every other game outside as well. However personally for me it makes not much difference at the moment as i am still doing some mission i want to finish until the end of the year and since i do not play very much due to RL i have to focus if i want to reach my self set goals.
As is heard, there are even some unique underground creatures and for a hunter that might be interesting to visit,
Calypso is the only place for me...
But i play way to little these days to actually be able to afford anything...
For anyone getting in to this game... Beware, it is VERY easy to spend money in this game... Because everything cost real money. Sure you can make money in-game too... Slowly... Very slowly.... At least that is how it is on Calypso. Have no tried the other planets actually so it might be easier to start there.

I had the same when i started back in 2009 and was almost about to quit. Then I found a good mentor who tought me reflected gamestyle. That as a big changer for me. Now i can play on a budget lower than most Sub MMOs and still can accumulate some nice gear. My activity however went down the last years, because i'm quite busy in rl - still i log in and play regularly whenever my spare time allow me to do,
Entirely correct, while it is technically possible to make money in the game, the reality is that only a 'few' actually can, there is almost no room for 'outsiders' to move into. Its a bit of an 'extreme microtransaction' model they use, if other games used those methods i think far fewer people would actually play MMO's
Makes you wonder how they are able to keep hackers and botters from running amok in a game with this model?

Bots and Hackers are almost no problem within Entropia. Due to a vigilant community and control mechanisms at account creation + Gold Cardit is a very rare occurence.
Regarding the other comments. Newcomers are given out some basic free starter gear at the gateway. And no it is not a casino. There have always been opportunities for non-depositors to suceed in the game. Over the last years with cheap land-deeds it even became easier ( start with ~48 PED per deed ). I know quite a lot people who play without deposits, because they stopped at one point or even never needed to deposit, but that is indeed the exception.
Most people in the game play on a budget comparable to regular subscription fees in other games. But yes some deposit heavily for various reasons. One thing remains after all these years Entropia exists and that is you know where your limits are and never should deposit what you are willing to lose. So if you treat it as entertainment money and consider your money lost in the moment you deposit you'll be just fine.
Do some research and you can play Entropia on any budget you want.
Funny thing is, the money really isn't lost when you deposit it. Because, up until you spend it (and assuming you don't earn it back), you can withdraw it back to your bank account. Until the moment it's spent, it's still yours.
"Money lost the moment you deposit (invest/pay) it" is more in line with the traditional sub or even cash shop model. You spend the money, it's gone. There's no withdrawing it, or getting it back.
In EU, you can get it back, along with any money you may earn along the way. That's another way it's not really like a casino. In a casino, you spend the money specifically to try and win more. In EU, you're spending the money (however much you want to invest), in the interest of doing stuff and having fun; getting a HOF or making money is something that could happen, but isn't (or at least shouldn't be) the main or only reason for playing.
It brings me back, again, to something that I find funny. People will argue for paying a monthly sub, to a game they may not even play that much (not knocking subs, I prefer them over cash shop/F2P setups). They'll happily spend lots of money in a Cash Shop, sometimes into the hundreds, arguing that "they're supporting the game, and they don't care because it's fun for them". In both those scenarios, their money's gone (assuming they're not eBaying, etc), but they never second guess it. They actually defend it.
Tell them a game like EU has a direct real cash-based economy, that they invest money in exchange for peds (at a pretty nice exchange rate, as well), that the money can be withdrawn back to their bank accounts - it's not gone forever until you've spent it. Suddenly they all put on their "outrage!" faces and start crying "scam!" or "gambling!"
You want to talk Gambling? How about the Cash Shop MMOs that have treasure chests that require you to buy keys, in the hope that you'll get a valuable reward... which is only valuable in-game but has no inherent real-world value.
It's another example of how people just do not think critically, but just act on gut impulse to things they don't even necessarily understand.
I think there's a lot of people out there who are misinformed, and choose to remain that way for whatever reason, and think EU is all about "spending money in the hopes of getting a jackpot and making a ton back". That's part of the game. It's not, at all, the entire point of playing it... well, unless an individual chooses to approach it that way; but that's on them, not the game.
EU is a very deep game, and has a lot of features and systems I've never seen in any other standard MMO.
I just recently started to get back into the game.
