So tired of hearing about the fucking labor point system.
"What do you mean i can't craft new product every 20 seconds,non-stop 24/7..like an entire Nike shoe factory assembly-line manned by coked-up slave-laboring vampire children!!! I can in other mmos. I thought this game would be different!!"
i was super happy to finally get a beta invite.... than i log in and notice the labor point system and was like
That still image never gets old! But Yeah....I pretty much did the same. /facepalm
I've known about it since the lift of the Korean Beta's NDA and you guys log in and go "huh now that's something I did not know" which is funny considering that the Flame Wars are reaching episode 4 levels of magnitude already because of it on these forums.
Now this either suggests both of you jumped into the game without even looking up a single thing about it (literally any preview, any basic feature list, anything, would have told you about the labor point system), speaks volumes about your own expectations of the game, or one, or both, are just wailing on the game just for the Hell of it with no real reason or backing to it.
I get the need to hate on something for being different (even if it isn't the male mammary glands lactating level of spectacular that seems to be required to be allowed to be different) but do so in a way that isn't so... evocative of this reaction
when reading your findings from anyone.
I already knew about the stupid Labor Point system.
Now I got a free beta invite (thank god for that), I just got it confirmed it's a bullshit of a system. Nothing but blatant cash grab!
Luckily I can just forget about ArcheAge. Got plenty of other nice games to play. Games that don't want to look into your wallet every darn minute! /shrug

Boo fucking hoo....
It's coming from people who want to play free so who cares if they're unhappy that they don't get everything a subscriber gets. They're the type of people this genre needs to get rid of moving forward anyway.
I have been invited to lot of MMOS beta without any prior knowledge about it. Not everyone lives on these forums checking every minute detail of the game.
Stop jumping on anyone who has something negative to say about the game.
So someone who does not agree with you is jumping down your neck? Do you also try free samples of detergent, food, etc, without first checking up to make sure there's no potential issues for you? Only takes google and 10 minutes and btw not on this forum .

Have you played Entropia Universe? Have you played Perfect World? Forsaken World? Gunbound? SWtOR? No? then you really should learn the difference between cash grab and pay to speed shit up ( in forsaken world you are point blank denied progress past a point without cash for example and this is late into the game ).

You're absolutely right.
Maybe not the genre as a whole...for various reasons the world needs "squeaky wheels". A few are fine...but it's starting to sound like a hard steady wind blowing through a graveyard of old rusty weather vanes.
I'm fine with this game getting rid of more than a few though.

Let's just hope they take a gold seller under each arm when they leave
i am kind of wondering when this golden age of mmorpgs was exactly ? "a life inside a game " can some one name one of these games ? if you say rune scape i wont take you seriously .
When they first can out EQ1 and AC1 where that way. You could not stop playing them. It was life inside a game. WOW was also a bit like this but not as much.
Is it possible that a college student who played EQ1 was able to submerge themselves in a game then 16 years later in their 30's can't simply because you now have work, family, bills, and responsibilities?
That is 99% me except I have not given up yet. . I will play AA, then go back to something more casual.
I tried ArcheAge yesterday and was instantly turned off within an hour!
LOL This is exactly what happened to me but I did not want to post it because I thought people would just think I was a hater. Bravo for having some nuts. The game is designed to be the worse money sink of all time and I could see that clearly within the first hour.
That looks like an adult head on a babies body. Just thought I'd point that out

When I was playing EQ1 I was running my own pre-columbian art business in NYC. Now I am retired and have all the free time in the world. I have no family, small bills and no responsibility.
The problem with AA that alot of people have is that it doesn't offer instant gratification like wow and most other mmos of its ilk. To get anywhere in AA it takes alot of time, its simmlar to old school ff11 before they caved into casuals and made the game a complete joke. Stuff took time to do. If your looking for insta gratification your not going to find it in AA, go back to wow or some other generic always on rails mmorpg that there is hundreds of these days.
Mind you I do think the LP system is bullshit if it is tied into almost every little action like it seems to be. They can always adjust the lp/min you get its probally a server setting or something. I've never been a fan of any game that imposes a stamina type system that limits what you can do per day. I like how fallen Earth does crafting, it takes X amout of real time to make an item. Though thankfully you can still move and fight while its doing it, and if you wanna speed it up you can sit by a facility to help, the crafting also keeps going while your logged off. Its a better option compared to the LP system.
Being a pessimist is a win-win pattern of thinking. If you're a pessimist (I'll admit that I am!) you're either:

or
B. Pleasantly surprised (if something good happens)

the crafting is grindy but when is crafting not grindy . i wouldn't say its a typical korean grind fest . as far as character levels you can just quest back to back and be led around the world doing 3 basic types of quest that are in any game with quest . kill , fetch and go talk to some one . it's not aion where you will grind to level all the time
i wont be playing AA when the beta is over but there isn't a lot to play right now . things are either out and i dont care about them or wont be out for months but it has nothing to do with western developers specifically . some companies showed what they had to offer and others are working on releasing stuff . its just odd timing
Final Fantasy 11, alot of stuff required you to work together and it took time commitment. Mind you today the game is a shell of what it used to be because square caved into casual trash and ruined the game by making it overly easy/a joke. Back then playing ff11 was more of a way of life than playing a game, I rather enjoyed it, sadly ff11 was the last mmo in recent memory that gave me that feeling, nothing else has come close, these wow clones bore me, your put in game, then your bascally forced to follow a boring rail ride from start to finish, the story always sucks, the gameplay gets bland eventually (but that happens to each mmo pretty much), the most recent offender is wildstar, I got my engineer to 50 and had virtually 0 desire to make any alts due to how mindnumbingly boring getting the 1st char to 50 was, I am also a known altaholic and usually have a ton of alts so that right there says how bad the game is, to me anyway. Not that FF11's combat was stellar or anything though, it mostly was just auto attacks then using a skill once your TP hit 100 if your a physical dmg dealer, or casting spells as a caster. Back when I played people used to like plan out skill chains and magic bursts, eventually that just stoped cuz all the casuals came in that have no interest in having to work together to speed things up.

I've played archeage since Korea CBT3. I watched every step of this game evolution.
1. Graphics was best during CBT4, then XLGames said they need to settle for slow PCs (Most of Koreans plat from Internet cafe), and it was downgraded significantly, even on highest lvl of detalization. Still it can be slightly modifed through editting cfg file.
2. Labor point would be a perfect system if only they didn't adopted F2P... It is actually very good idea, it helps people to differ their activity and also workd as a limitation, because you can't mining whole day long and etc. But stupid f2p they sell potion that restore lp in game shop...
3. Leveling is pretty much the same as in every other mmo, it tooks about a week to lvl up to 50 by questing. Also i managed to lvl up second char within two month only on craft.
4. It's funny to see comments about grinding. Actually there is no point to grind in AA because it's profitable only for bots, you need to craft trade packs to earn money. There is 2 events in games when you need smth from mobs, it's Hazira weapons crafting, and mb dragon jewelry if you want one. But it is not grind it's more like non-stop pvp for every piece of a loot, even if you play on a last server.
5. What to do in game on lvl cap - trading, sieges, pvp, crafting, dungeons. Euro strats with 1.2 its actually a lot of content.
But main problem is F2P, this crap makes perfect game into smth average, but it is still enjoyable
i fiddled a while in the character creation but couldnt get a char together that doesn't look like a person you'd feel a bit sorry for.
I have to correct myself on that one. After spending some more time with the character creation, i was able to create a really good looking female elf.
The option to modify facial features like scars and such in size and angle is also cool.

I'm not saying play the game. But you can't even scratch the surface of this game in one hour. I will say it is not for those with short attention spans which may include the both of you.
And by the way. No one really cares if you play or hate this game or not.

No, it is just that through sheer experience (35 years of gaming) that it does not take me long to figure out whether a game is good or bad for me. This one is not worth my time for the reasons I stated. They are 100 percent valid reasons for me. You cannot say what I do not like as you are not me. That is a lost argument even before you start it. I cannot say that you won't like either. My only hope is that one will listen and take under advisement my displeasure with the game. Your last statement 100% discredits you as you cannot state what everyone thinks as fact. Some will care and some won't. To not know this is to be a fool.

I don't want to waste my time trying to push past crap to get to the good stuff.
If I'm not impressed within an hour, (Hell some cases, 10 minutes and I'm out) I'm not playing the game.

Are you trolling or do you really believe - after the hundreds of threads and thousands of posts on the matter on these very boards - that it really is because the people that made it are asian and not because of the consistent pattern of artwork, gameplay and mechanics present in games that come from the east?
