Where the heck did that ArenaNet go to?
They answered it 6 months into the game. f you ignored that, it is not their fault it is yours.
They said no expansions as they were going to try something new - Living World updates.
Yeah, and there "no expansions" isn't working for them very well is it? The majority of their playerbase wants one, why are they continuing to put most of their resources towards (in my opinion) awful living-story updates? It's as if they have stubborn people heading the company who refuse to meet players overall wants for the game...
They also never said 100% "no" to an expansion. "Not likely" doesn't equate to "no."
Player base has no say in it. Unfortunately. Also NCSoft, the parent company, doesn't want a repeat of the GW1 fiascos with OP skills, professions, etc. Unfortunately, most players do not have the overall game balance, design, and cohesion in mind when they ask for things - most ask for selfish reasons. People want the Trinity back, open world PvP, etc. I could go on.
How do you know what the majority of players want? have you asked them? Be real, it is what YOU want and then you decided to talk for all the other players out there. How nice and arrogant of you.
I like how you changed the definition of No - have you worked in the George H.W. Bush administration?
Unlike a sub game, which depends on players continual monthly input of cash, this was a B2P game, meaning all they expected was the box price.
You don't like it, don't play. I think this current LS is pretty interesting.
Very well said. Though I have no beef with Razeekster, it's that type of thinking that is wasted on this game. I don't think GW2 was never meant to appeal to everyone, yet everyone seems to want the game to change in order to appeal to them anyways. They seem to forget that there is an ample playerbase that this game definitely appeals to and who were definitely the target customers that ANET wanted. And we still play.
For those that want trinity, gear grinds, raids, quest hubs, pay a sub, and to pay for more content in the form of expansions then the MMO you are looking for is practically every other MMO on the market. Not this one. Sorry.

Excusing your extreme rudeness, but when almost every GW2 article generates "Expansion" discussions in the comments, you can bet a large part of the playerbase wants one, so no it has nothing to do with me being arrogant.
I also never said anything about trinity, open world PvP or anything else besides my mention of an expansion.
Also, I know the definition of "no." The thing is a definite "no" was never said. The exact phrasing was "Not likely," as I already stated.
Not sure what GW2 being B2P has to do with it either. GW 1 was B2P and had B2P expansions.
I would also suggest the vast majority of GW2 players Want an expansion, the majority of players who enjoy their chosen AAA Mmo would love an expansion. I would bet my bottom dollar Anet ARE developing an expansion as we speak - because it is guaranteed to make profit - they would have to be insane not to.

Bang for buck. Would you buy if the xpac was subscription? The b2p model preformed mediocre at best. Plus it turned off a lot of players with the cash shop.

aren't you tired of the same old skills for the past 2 years? wouldn't you pay for more content like that?
People who seemed shocked that Arenanet/NcSoft isn't listening to their players about GW2 must have never played GW1. It took them forever to finally start to implement/change things the players requested. I loved GW1, had high hopes for GW2 but I am not surprised at the lack of listening to the players. They think that they know what everyone wants regardless of how many requests/suggestions/polls come out showing that the players want different. Maybe another 3 or 4 years from now they might start to listen, but as long as they have their cash shop and it keeps paying the bills they won't and you can kiss any expansion hopes goodbye.
What people dont' understand. An expansion is delivered once every 6 months or more. People finish this expansion in 2 weeks and move one with what is left. In Guild Wars 2, you get it piece by piece your expansion. Stop saying that stupid word and use your brain.
However, I'm please with the game as it is, it needs improvements but I have always something to do as a guild master. I have difficulties picking something. I can understand people have problems with freedom and making choices. That's maybe what it is about : guiding people. I don't personnaly agree to be guided by a game. But I love this game and I think I won't be disappointed.
Like we use to say in Web (I'm a professional in this matter) : people write when they are unhappy, if they are happy they just use it.
I don't even understand how an expansion would make sense in a game that is based around normalization? Expansions usually serve to raise level cap, add new classes, add new more powerful items, and add a new map, all these things go against what GW2 is founded on, which is that it's a skill based game.
They can add content without selling expansion packs. Not sure if anyone realizes this but with todays technology "expansions" really are a cash grab. There is no reason to box and sell content when we can download 50 + mbps. I think a better model would be add new content but sell it in the cash shop.
I think the real question for ANet is, and dare I say, character progression. How do you allow one to progress your character when your mantra is everything is the same (i.e. gear stats, skills, etc). This is a gray area for GW2 and I honestly don't think living story is the answer.
What people are really looking for is a reason to grind, because the truth is that grinding keeps people logging in.
ArenaNet put out way more content within 2 years in GW1 than GW2. This includes new maps, new game modes, new continents, new professions etc without ever touching the level cap. You don't have to add vertical character progression in expansions in a campaign-focused and pvp-heavy game. The living story, sorry to be frank, is a shame in comparison to the quality of the added pve content of GW2's predecessor.
To be honest, I don't know what ANet is doing with a team about 50% bigger than in GW1's peak, but I don't think it is more than having meetings.

Sorry to sound so provocative.
