Is dual wielding in? If so, will rogues be able to get it? (I've been thinking of playing a rogue/necro or something odd like that, trying to get a feel for what they'd be able to do).

I think I'll hide my first post right about... here.
Now that I have my official account (as opposed to my personal account that I've been on for quite a while around here), I should see about introducing myself.
Eh, but why get fancy the first go-round? Simply, I'm a GM for Hero's Journey, this is my second year now on HJ and my 5-6th year with Simutronics. Before that I played GemStone III for a few years.
At the moment I run a team consisting of about half the entire Quests staff, and have my feelers into many design, training, and Quality Control aspects of HJ.
And I'm looking forward to getting you all in there ASAP
Well, Sev, I think I have you beat! I'm going to hide my post right here under yours. I've been lurking on these forums for a while now (actually longer than I've been a GM for HJ) and you gave me the motivation to introduce myself as well.
I'm on the Quest Team also as one of Sev's lackey's. Hmmm... I prefer 'goon' over 'lackey' though.
I've been a GM with Simutronics for quite a long time now. Since October of '05, if my memory serves me right. This whole GM'ing thing is all new to me but I think I've found a new passion!
I'm looking forward to having some fun here at mmorpg.com!

Duel wielding weapons? Not at this time.
But, you can use a weapon and cast spells based on your classes.
Its not all the Brians that scare me, its the fact that somehow I just know we are not done hiring Michaels. Enough already! Simutronics + GMs together is about 95% Michael.
What do I do? I am what is known in Simutronics-lingo as a Codeninja or a Scriptmonkey. I utilize HJ's scripting language to kill play...errr build systems that the players will need if they survive the onslaught of the AFL-CIO. The AFL-CIO is the Mob Union which we have to deal with.
AFL-CIO = Animal Fauna League, Critters International Organization. It was founded by the Roltons because they got tired of the Troll Kings getting all the publicity.

Welcome to the never ending series of questions that most of us know you will not be permitted to answer I'm not suprised the roltons formed their own union, they really did get blatently ignored. Most lords would not even take 2 seconds of their time to swing a sword at them. Then ofcourse there was the great rolton purge of 93, not a great moment in Landing history....

Yes, I was indeed referring to Dual Wielding weapons (not sure about Dueling, that's a different topic, heh). Not at this time, eh? Hopefully that will change, I think it's a pretty important combat style to include.
On the subject of Necromancers, here is what will hopefully be an easy question to answer: Do they get some sort of lifedrain spell or ability (transferring hit-points or whatever from your opponent to you) ?
P.S.: Welcome to all the other GMs who have shown up, good to see you here.

1) I do agree that the florentine style of combat is something that would be... very cool. I've even seen it first hand (and got the snot kicked outta me).
2) The name Necromancer itself can imply some of what the class will have. But, I'm sorry to say we've not given any spell lists out as of yet.
Hi, Long time GS player here....Dating back to prodigy days. Have a couple questions for ya, 1 - Will there be lockpicks for rogues like in GS? 2 - Also any details on the speed of level'ling up? prefer it to take a bit. Thanks for your time that's it for now.
1) There will be lockpicking. As for lockpicks themselves, I've not seen any as of yet. That does not mean they aren't on the to-do list. Us would be rogues have to wait on this one for now.
2) There is a great talk on the main boards for this topic. This is still something that can vary from person to person. So it's semi hard to give a good answer here even with exact information. www.play.net/hj

I have been around there on and off since early AOL days, pre-internet.
Where you around when Thurfel teleported everyone to Teras? That was fun, had lvl 5 guys going where am I? running around in the legendary areas. Needless to say a lot of people died before they figured out how to get home.
Oooh...and the Banaltra thing. I was around for that. Talk about carnage...dead people everywhere.

I consider myself strong in the area of storytelling, and writing fiction in general is something I love to do. Therefore, I would think working as a GM on the Quests side of things would be something I would enjoy very much.
However (correct me if I'm wrong), the World Development GM position is for quests, but it's also for level design and such. Would that mean that in order to be a World Development GM, I would also have to have an aptitude for level design? Because I wouldn't consider myself too strong in that area.

You would need some aptitude in level design yes. However, this doesn't mean being able to use complex tools like 3ds Max or being a great artist. If you think it's something you might be interested in check out the GM Info on the main site.
Ive played alot of MMORPGs and ever since DAoC ive wanted this feature. My dream scenario is hiding in a tree on the side of a road, ambush people as they pass. melees would either have to brave my arrows as they climbed the tree to get me or run away. people with ranged attacks would fare better. The best i could do in DAoC is hide behind a tree. This might have been ok if that game didnt have a /face command which automatically points you directly at your attacker; effectively killing any aspects of ambushing people in that game.
I totally doubt this is a feature you guys have added to the game, but i thought id ask and broach the subject.
