Though i really like Bill's MMOFTW (mostly the non-scripted versions now and then!), like many users i'm not so much of a fan of his reviews.
But i really think that the last thing to look forward to on this page is a) Bill -> b) reviewing a Trion game. Can anyone guess the score already? Right!
Please do this page a favor and let someone less "blind to any flaws, just loves every game" and more "objective author" review Archeage.
But that's off-topic, let's stick to the Destiny talk, eh? Though oddly enough, in that Defiance review you could swap Destiny's name with Defiance's. Though the Aesthetics of Destiny and its Polish might bring it closer to 7 in my book.
That said, that's me. Not Grak.
I think it´s a solid 7 as well. It´s defintely better than Defiance.
Much larger and more interesting world. There is more to do and most importantly, no cash shop and lockboxes constantly being shoved in your face. That alone is already a huge plus!
The core game is really good and if they can just get the whole grouping / communication working as it should.
That is really my biggest gripe so far, that I am forced to send someone a PSN friend invite first, before I can invite him to my Fireteam. I shouldn´t have to do that!
My friendlist is exactly that. A list of my friends, not just random People I run into on my map.
And if I run into someone that happens to be friendly and would like to group up with more, then I can choose myself if I want to add him to friendlist or not.
Next to allowing Fireteam sizes of up to 6 outside strikes.
If they can get the above fixed, the game will be a solid 8 for me.

I actually agree wholeheartedly with that number, Bill.
To me, Destiny at release seemed more like the basis for a genre-changing, groundbreaking FPS shooter, not the finished product. It's like they started so many things, but had to release it before they were able to follow-through with those ideas to a finishing point.
Epic boss fights in Fireteams? Yep, but only a few attacks to learn to avoid and a huge, huge pool of health to whittle away over 15 minutes of the same thing. They aren't even multi-staged as far as I experienced, just the same 3-4 attacks the entire time.
Shared world multiplayer? Yep, but if you wanna make a fireteam with someone you meet, you'll have to add them and reload the world. Nothing's on-the-fly. Additionally, you cannot in any way communicate with that person until said fireteam is made.
RPG progression? Yes, but nothing beyond the run-of-the-mill gear grinding and skill slots. Even then, it seems like a kind of artificial tack-on. The powers aren't well-developed or very deep. There is no real interaction between the classes, no synergy to encourage multiplayer play. As I've mentioned before, Far Cry's ability system beats this one by leaps and bounds. Additionally, the best gear is gained from the aforementioned 15 minute long, duck and fire over and over boss battles from fireteam missions.
Enemy AI? There's nothing special going on here. This one is probably the most forgivable. And yet, if they had taken the time to articulate a sophisticated AI, a lot of the other issues could be overlooked due to the sheer variety of tactics employed by enemies (especially bosses).
It seems like they needed another year to flesh all these things out, to complete them. THEN it would deserve the most successful IP launch in history.
Guys i just bought the game digitally on PS3 (So i can get the PS4 versions free when i buy PS4 when Bloodborne releases) I wanted to know. Can strikes be done solo?
I notice when i hover over missions they have a difficulty and then it says cooperative, Strikes 1-3 does that mean strikes are soloable? also how do i actually access a strike when i land for a mission? lol
I honestly dont know anyone on PS3 so im basically just playing through missions on normal and hard to level. Just want to know how limited i am.

If you'd like, add me on PSN @ Capn_KA. (without the period) I'm picking up the game because my brother is halfway across the globe and wants me to pick it up so he and I can play a shooter together. If we're ever playing and you're on, I can shoot you an invite to our party. We may be a little behind you in levels, though, as I won't get to start til Wednesday at the earliest.
Sometimes I wonder if you guys are actually playing the same games we are. This game is being almost universally slammed same as Sims 4. Except for a handful of reviewers like this one.

Universally slammed? Come on now. Not have to overreact and uncomparable to Sims 4, which is 4th release of a gaming series, where lots of features have been removed. Just like they did in NHL 15 and deserve all the flack they got.
This is just SW:TOR all over, where People just jumped on the hype Train and hyped eachother into oblivion!
Even if Bungie had released the Perfect game last week, all these People would still have found faults and complain and whine all day!
I have learned my lesson from SW:TOR and ignored all the hype! No kidding. I maybe watched one or two beta videos and read an article here and there. That's it.
And because of that, I came into the game with no expectations and now 5 days on, still having a total blast!
Big name games always going to catch a lot of flack, and be under the micoscope, best advice as along time gamer, form your own opnion, if you emjoy the game then who gives a rats ass what others are saying.
I leanred this through the years, I bought games that were all the rage, great reviews and people thought they were the best thing since sliced bread, I got them home and played them and for me they sucked, I was what are people thinking, and on the other hand I have bought games that had poor to bad reviews, and found them to be some of the most fun I had, I guess I learned, I like what I like and it may not always be the same as the main stream, thats why I don't read reviews could care less what anyone has to say, I look at the game for what it is and if it is something I like I buy, I might wait until it its the bargin bin, but I get it at some point.
I'm now up to 19. I decided to load up Halo ODST and compare these two games just to see what it is that is rubbing me wrong with Destiny's pvp. (wrong for me)
I think I have narrowed it down to weapons, the speed of the game, and the special ability
- the super ability like Golden Gun in pvp is quite silly, though Golden Gun is the weakest of the three from a (hit the easy button standpoint) these super abilities combined with ease of access to rockets, there is to many powerful one shot kill weapons available. There is no skill in using these weapons.
- Weapons are freely given to use and if we want a sniper we have one, want a shotgun just equip it .... PvP is supposed to be about competition, let us compete for the weapons, the better weapons are whats going to get people moving on the maps but... because of this flaw, ( THE GAME IS A ZERG FEST) yup it's a small zerg, if you notice in pvp everyone follows each other around because there is strength in numbers ...... ( EYE OPENER HERE - note on how to deter zerging) in this case spread weapons out and don't give everyone a sniper rifle, actually don't give them anything but an assault rifle to start with.
- Lastly the speed of the game - it's making me go bonkers and this isn't the only game headed this direction. In Destiny, I spend more time jumping around the map then playing an fps. It's a little bit monotonous. I noticed when I compared ODST to Destiny, ODST is slower and the Chief does not jump nearly as high nor as fast. Unfortunately, Destiny isn't the only game doing this, Titanfall, Firefall, Call of Duty Advanced Warfare, and it looks like (Halo 5 is headed in this direction too) these games especially Destiny and from what I can tell CoD AW have boosted player speed and add the super jumping ability. It takes away from being an fps game, it's more close range melee/shotgun game then rather than a shooting game.
PVE - I will let the pros handle the PVE review, personally I feel like it's very pointless, incomplete, poorly implemented, I feel like in trying to be the Jack of all traits, they shot themselves in the foot, Bungie can do better than this.
GAMEPLAY – 5
AESTHETICS - 7 - trying to do too much causes other problems

I am sorry. But it looks like you just have to stick to Counter Strike and other similar games, if you want pseudo realism PVP.
Super jump, powerful weapons and the super ability in Destiny isn't anything new nor a new direction.
Special weapons (rocket launcher, machine gun) have very long reload. The Super ability has a long cooldown.
Anyone that played Unreal Tournament from 1999 and Quake can tell you this.
These games I played for many years and there are still online servers up and running for these games.
If anything. Destiny actually gives me a DejaVu back to those times and I don't mind it at all. As I had a total blast playing those games at that time and maybe that's why I am enjoying Destiny so much at the moment.
Now. I can fully understand it might not be your cup of tea. That's fine.
This game took me by surprise. I'm light level 24 now and still enjoying myself. 3v3 PvP is incredible, not a big fan of 6v6. Strikes are fun, and I'm looking forward to the raid opening on tuesday!!!
The game screen shots prior to release were like web site dating ones. From a different platform that seems to be out your reach. Maybe PC version will rock......I played to lvl 4 but it was without content to make it a MMO or online game. Felt baron, information-less
After playing the game for about a week or so I'll say; the story is totally underwhelming. The gameplay is really nothing new. This game is pretty much Hellgate London with vehicles and space travel. I rarely buy a game because of hype, made that mistake I think. I'll give it a little longer with the pvp before I give up on it all together, but I can't say it was a worthy buy, at least for me.
I guess I may be a bit biased because I've recently replayed "The Last of Us". The story and presentation are way stronger. I wish they had taken the same effort Naughty Dog did to make the atmosphere more than just an empty place with souless npc's (Obviously it's a videogame, but Destiny lacks a single interesting character).

Found it to be highly repetitive, no exploration, story is shit and the PVP is just generic...
I don't get the hype other than it is Bungie.
Gamespot gave Destiny a "6" Ouch
Guess Activision's check must have bounced lol
"Be water my friend" - Bruce Lee
I kind of think Bungie is the hype too.
