I had someone tell me AC was ftp but I see it's 10 dollars so just to make sure I'm asking. Is it 10 dollars with no sub fees or not?

    it is a one time fee of  $10 to activate the account,no monthly fees after that.

    AC is currently in flux.

    So far:

    • Monthly updates have ceased.
    • Subscriptions have now ceased (as of August 2014.)
    Currently:
    • There is a one off $10 account creation charge; will apply to new and returning inactive players.
    Planned for "the end of the year"
    • The existing servers are going to be closed. 
    • Player run server packages on "community servers are going to be rolled out "
    There are more details in the forums but I think they are the key points. It doesn't for example say whether there will or will not be a charge after the new community servers are up and running. I suspect there would be as there is no cash shop - but that is my speculation.
