Yeah, so call me crazy, but I have more trust for this dude than any big name dev, who's under publishers like EA, Activision and Ubi

Fight the system bro! Throw your money at those who say they'll build you something nice.

Unlike those publishers who take your money and never deliver an actual game to play.

    Oh wait...

My SWTOR referral link for those wanting to give the game a try. (Newbies get a welcome package while returning players get a few account upgrades to help with their preferred status.)

I knew there would be crap posts after my leave, but this much nonsense?! I just have to set things straight before I leave.

1)Loktofeit, you do realize you're basically bashing the guy for complaining about not having money, while, in fact not having money? How silly is that ?!

I mean , unless you have any actual proof or actual link(instead of quote pulled out of your arse forcing me on a wild goose chase on the net, just to get the whole picture,or the link provided by me)-then you better stop bashing the guy for having no support until he took his game to crowd funding. Yeah, he claimed he had no support, over and over, but he didn't. So what is there to bash him for?!

The only real thing you can remotely blame him for is KS campaign, but KS+Amazon Payments is a whole other can of worms, forcing people into all or nothing mentality.

I also find it funny how you bash all indie devs, but praise songs to Project Gorgon, then you come here and bash DO non-stop. Yep, that's not biased in the least, with PG campaign about be over.

So, do you have any proof that he received funding for his game prior to Indiegogo? Because otherwise, you have nothing to accuse him off. And you're still biased as hell.

    Moving on to Lizardbones!

You do realize you're bashing one guy for taking so long at making MMO, practically alone, unti recently?

You're also bashing him for doing feature-to-feature campaign and for taking so long WHILE DOING THINGS ALONE. How silly is that?!

I'll tell you exactly how!!! Let's take SWTOR, for example-over 800 people, working for SIX YEARS, with a budget of WHOOPING 200M!!!

And you're bashing one guy for taking seven years?! Reality check, buddy-it's expected to take forever, with minimal staff and minimal funding. You don't get to blame time delay on incompetence, when there's one guy working on the project most of the time.

    And last but it least-Azaron...

I'm sorry, but how many times did major publishers effed up? Only couple countless times on almost every single latest title of theirs? Watch Dogs, Titanfall and Destiny?

Yeah, those companies are so much more trustworthy than some guy that is yet to release the game...

I mean, it's basically a choice between something you know is going to suck and something that MIT actually be good. "Going to suck," part was reserved for big name publishers, btw, because sad fact is-they are no longer trustworthy and if anything, they are the bigger swindlers than those you can possibly find on crowd funding campaigns.

Now with those shreds of common sense and realistic expectations, I leave you, gentlemen. Fog good this time and for a year. We can laugh at each other then.

In a meanwhile, though-don't bother replying-I'm inactive in this snakeroot of a forum for a good reason.

From Stainglass Llama's 2008 business plan.

    • Initial investment of $3.2 million with a payback period of less than two years

    • Total revenues are projected to be $8.5 million in 2010 and are expected to grow to $74.3 million in 2013.

    • The value of the company in 2013 will be $148.56 million, based on a conservative EBITDA multiple of five.

    • Divergence subscriptions will grow from 23.8k in 2010 to 103.6k in 2013

Those plans were completely unrealistic back in 2008, and they are still unrealistic. The guy doesn't have a product that can be concluded within two year, if he did, he would have something impressive to show now.

Iselin: And the next person who says "but it's a business, they need to make money" can just go fuck yourself.

Almost all of the posters bash him and call it cash grabs and bs. What is he doing it for if not to make a game? Go join second life if youd like to troll people

Thought I would chime in and give my two copper like everyone else.

First of all I do admire that Ethan is still swinging the bat since a number of projects have fallen by the wayside (mine included). To many strikeouts on my end to even bother with it anymore so congrats to Ethan and his team for continuing development under less than pleasant conditions.

I would like to point out that Ethan came to the realization that the Esenthal engine was not going to cut the mustard with SQLite. Of course the engine itself is more single player and/or multi-player so it is not designed to handle massively online environments. Although it lacks this capability, it is not the engines lack of, it is the lack of engineering to make a solid network infrastructure that would need to be designed to handle the requirements of what he intended to do.

So switching to Unity was not the best choice either although there are lots of cut and paste market items to push it through. Again, later on down the road the team is going to run into another brick wall and that is that to build the intended freeform design will again require another solid engineered network infrastructure and Unity does NOT have it out of the box.

To bad BWT screwed the indies so hard or I would have recommended that they actually work with a real MMO framework or roll their own engine with exacting requirements. I know what they want and I am rooting for them to get it done.
