What can this team possibly do to revive any semblance of hype for this game that's somehow dying in pre alpha?
Making a solid game is a good start but I don't see this game being any less buggy then Vangaurd; in fact, likely moreso since VG had a pretty decent budget compared to Pantheon's non existent one. EQ was made by a bunch of no name developers but at least they had $$ backing them.
I see no motivation for devs to polish this game when they know deep down they aren't going to be making much $$ if anything even if the game is successful since Brad has a habit of cutting his losses and running with the money. The way past devs were treated pretty much guarantees current ones will be taken advantage of at some point so that's gotta hamper your motivation a bit.
There's some obvious fixes like handing control of all business decisions to someone more qualified but I don't see Brad ever letting go of the reigns except maybe to ditch the project completely. Showing people game design that doesn't include stock unity assets or 3rd party purchased character animations is another good start. Even an angel investor tossing 100mill at Pantheon will likely get mismanaged into the ground or even straight up stolen if half the money rumors are true. Honestly can anything save this project?

Anyone reading these forums already knows what you think. You have to make another thread?
You said in the other thread "The mindless trolling is getting retarded even by this websites standards" and yet here you go again.
I'm flattered that you're following my posts but there is nothing mindless or trolling about my post. Just because you don't want to hear it doesn't make it trolling, a truth many fanboi's need to accept.
If you think anything I said is false feel free to give reasons why and seriously good luck with that.
There is a reason the hyped died down in the first place. Also, one thing most MMO's vets know, and when I say "Vet" I mean been playing MMO's long enough to see the trend from how the first popular MMO's were developed versus now, is that resurrecting a title that wasn't popular to begin with, will not automatically become popular just because another Dev put his name on it.
Now for my personal opinion, I initially really liked the concept, I was curious to see where it went. That was years ago. Imo, to try and make this game successful, you would keep the IP, but start much of the software development from scratch. Otherwise when/if it releases, it's going to look and feel dated from day one.
So to the point, what can they do to get hype again? Sadly, short of starting completely over, I dont' think they can do much.

Well I don't measure a games success by how many are subscribing. I measure based on whether it's a great game, dated graphics/mechanics or not.
The problem is I don't see how they can possibly make a great game based on whats happened so far and of course the lack of solid management/support.
Gregor999 - the world champion dead-horse beating troll. Could you please make another thread and maybe re-word your opinion again? That would be great! And if anyone starts a different thread you could say the same thing again in that thread too!
Maybe this game will suck. Maybe it will be great fun! Maybe it will be somewhere in between. I look forward to trying it and hope for the best.
Must be a troll from Rerolled.org
interest in this game died because the story became about the people and the developers rather than about the game..
I just went back and checked the forum on this game and now I understand why its going to die.....
I have a life, its just different from yours.....
You may not measure how much you like a game by it's subscriber numbers but that is how a p2p game's success is measured.
As for what they can do to build some hype....fire brad would be a good start.
Is it billion dollar companies are built by being able to make hard choices and dumping bad projects, not riding them into the grave ?
Good point. To this day I know more about the teams drama and questionable decisions then the actual game.
Firing Brad would deal the final deathblow to Pantheon because then all that's left is an newbie team with a visionless project. And if you've seen some of the other developers post they would turn the game into a themepark so quick it would make your head spin.
For all his shortcomings he's the only reason anyone donated to Pantheon in the first place. If a bunch of no names threw Pantheon on Kickstarter for a month it wouldn't have even reached 10k.
The problem is Brad can't manage anything to save his life. He needs to be an idea man/developer and have virtually no voice in the company's finances. But to do this would remove his ability to take 45k randomly so I don't see it happening.
Interest has vanished because most people know that this game will never release.
Currently Playing: DAOC Uthgard
Previously Played: UO, DAOC, Shadowbane, AC2, SWG, Horizons, COX, WOW, EQ2, LOTRO, AOC, WAR, Vanguard, Rift, SWTOR, ESO, GW2.
Any interest I had in Pantheon has been completely been replaced by Project: Gorgon, a game that is actually playable and has a hundred times more chances of releasing, it has that delicious oldschool vibe and a tiny team that seems to have infinitely more talent than Brad and his team of goons, all just my opinion ofc

'But there are many. You can play them entirely solo, and even offline. Also, you are wrong by default.'

'This does not apply just to ED but SC or any other game. What they will get is Rebirth/X4, likely prettier but equally underwhelming and pointless.
It is incredibly difficult to design some meaningfull leg content that would fit a space ship game - simply because it is not a leg game.
It is just huge resource waste....'

Good.
If they are truly working on the game then the last thing they need is "hype" to set up unrealistic expectations.
Let them get the game to something close to finished and then present what they "actually" have and "then" let the hype begin.

well "no".
The developer said that if the kickstarter didn't work then there was little chance that they could continue working on the game.
I just saw the quote yesterday in some interview (or post).
I want to say it was the stratics site. They indicated that some small developers were still leasing the engine (or some such verbiage) and that they would continue to support them.
And their kickstarter is not in great shape (which is a shame).
Of course, I can't find the blurb now but will continue to look (I know I'm not going crazy).

Sigh. For you to bring up Project Gorgon as a possible alternative to Classic EQ is insulting quite frankly. I know it's still being developed but iProject Gorgon is one of the worst games I have ever played. I didn't even see a glimpse of potential honestly.
The game that replaces EQ Classic can't just "be kinda like EQ" it has to be better then EQ and that game will never even come close to pulling that off.
You guys all crack me up.. Most people that are following it are most likely people like myself. I come back every now and then to see what's changed. At this moment the concept is appealing but there is not enough meat to get hyped over anything.
as for the comments about games matching up to EQ. Well not even EQ matches up to EQ these days if you read what everyone says about it. I was a classic EQ player from beta up to 2004. im afraid of going back to that most cherished game. I enjoy my rose colored glass memories.
That's what I thought too, so 4 years ago I decided to give Project 1999 a chance so i could get all the old school MMO desires out of my system. 4 years later I'm still playing there. EQ Classic wasn't just hype it was a masterpiece, granted a masterpiece likely to never be properly followed up on but a masterpiece none the less.
Now if you're talking about EQ live, yeah the current EQ is an abomination but Project 1999(classic EQ) still has 1100+ players every night. Keep in mind it pulls those numbers despite how annoying it is to set up the server, having mostly trolls for developers/GM's and a cesspool they like to call a community. Think about it, an emulation server that is worse then Classic EQ released 10 years after the fact, offering no new gameplay whatsoever has 1100+ players a night. Not to mention absolutely zero marketing and stuck on the same expansion for 4 years those numbers are pretty amazing quite honestly.
Make no mistake the player interest for a game LIKE Pantheon is huge, the question is whether there's any interest left for Pantheon itself after what's happened so far.
You probably saw it here:

Does appear that if they can't come up with 100 grand somewhere the project will skid to a halt.

As anyone who checks my posts will know, I was a HUGE supporter of this project at the beginning. Even helped start and run a P99 guild for Pantheon for a couple months this past winter. However, after everything that has happened there really isn't much that can be done to generate more hype. The only thing I can think of is allowing the team to get something out there to show off.
I still have Pantheon on my facebook and I see the different screenshots and videos that they post. I don't really go looking for any info on it however because in my mind if Brad and Co want the game to actually go some where they need to build the game to a point where they can put out a gameplay video or something to WOW folks enough to attempt to make folks forget what happened in the past.
Is it possible? Lord knows. I for one am not holding my breath no matter how much I want a spiritual successor to EQ1. At this point, I would prefer they keep themselves out of the limelight till they have something working to really show folks. Whether that's a playable demo, gameplay video or at least something worth a damn. I'm not saying they couldn't do it with standard unity objects and then look for money to update graphics and what not but as it is, it's dead till they have something to really wow the public with.
As for Brad, his faults are very well known and as I have suggested before about removing him from the financial side of things and just allow him to aim the direction of the game, I doubt that is a possibility. In either case, I don't see him giving up any control unless the project is dead and in that instance, it means they need a working product to push before they can expect any type of hype.
Project Gorgon is a game I have been playing and enjoying a lot but it isn't that close to EQ in all honesty. It is more of a Asheron's Call type of game than a EQ game. It is definitely in a better place than Pantheon but I don't think it would fill the hole of a EQ1 successor as Pantheon is slotted to be. Time will tell in all of this but I wouldn't expect anything changing anytime soon.
Although Pantheon is touting a new video in November that's supposed to WOW folks, according to their facebook posts, I guess we will see.
Yeah I can't imagine why people aren't all hyped about a game being run by a well known scam artist and a jesus freak....
Maybe they should add on some extra commandments like "thou shalt not scam people on the internet to pay yourself to do nothing"
