Beta in this case doesn't mean feature complete if that's what you're getting at.
e.g see the latest patch notes to see what was added for Beta 2 - https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=43776
or persue the DDF for game mechanics - https://forums.frontier.co.uk/forumdisplay.php?f=36
Just a warning that at the moment Beta 2 flat out just doesn't work for a lot of players. Connection issues / crashes are fairly common and for a large number of players the game freezes on the main menu before it even tries connecting. There were two patches yesterday, but it's only made it worse each time.
For me it went from
- can play but can't hyperspace
to
- can only play the tutorials
to
- game freezes the moment I open it
Hopefully more fixes incoming this evening.
The Enlightened take things Lightly
Probably not the real Chris Roberts, but he is a backer for Elite, so it's possible he's been cruising around in Beta 2.
Good point. I certainly hope nobody shoots up the real Chris before he finishes his game.
2 thumbs up, that was funny.

There has been 2 more patches already, at 2.04 now.
A lot of the big issues have been fixed, so hopefully it'll work for you as well now then.
They are freaking fast with their bugfixing
