Me and bro, playing the Atari version, laughing so hard when we used the potions. We called it the "clear screen button" xD
In Dark Legacy, Jester saying "I'm so happy for you" was the luls... powerleveling with the Spider Queen... Unicorn's bonus stage music... and Skorne's boss battle music
I've played Gauntlet legends arcade machines. I remember always using other people's characters by watching them input their codes, and they would absolutely hate it. I still remember the voice in-game where it tells me my character needs food, heh. I think the arcade machine was a better experience then playing it on the consoles. The N64 version kinda sucked.
Played the heck out of Gauntlet and Robotron growing up. I always used to get mad at the constantly diminishing health, and complained about it to anyone who would listen, yet there I stood pumping quarters into the damn thing. The voices were so awesome and unlike anything I'd ever heard before from an arcade machine. I know Sinistar preceded Gauntlet in the use of digital voice, but I discovered Gauntlet first.
Fast forward to the late 90's, and Gauntlet Legends was released. Absolutely loved it, loved being able to effectively 'move' my character between the arcade versions and the Dreamcast version via the character codes. That was a really innovative feature, and had arcades not mostly died off by the late 90's, I'm willing to bet more of them would've made use of the tech.
Loving the new game now. It's a great homage to the original and, while a bit short, is definitely worth the $20 (I paid $15). I hope Arrowhead takes the game in the right direction, though their continued development, expansion, and support of Magicka speaks well for the future.
AN' DERE AIN'T NO SUCH FING AS ENUFF DAKKA, YA GROT! Enuff'z more than ya got an' less than too much an' there ain't no such fing as too much dakka. Say dere is, and me Squiggoff'z eatin' tonight!
We are born of the blood. Made men by the blood. Undone by the blood. Our eyes are yet to open. FEAR THE OLD BLOOD.
My favorite memory from Gauntlet was the original arcade version playing with my friends on a marathon session. At one point some jerk we didn't know jumped in, and of course he stole all the treasure and shot or ate all the food. We tried to convince him to play nice, but ignored everything we said.
So we decided to teach him a lesson on an "It" level. Working together, the 3 of us were able to trap him in a corner near a monster generator he couldn't shoot. He died. From then on we just kept doing that until he got the message.
Sure, we weren't nice, but who out there hasn't had someone drop into the game and act like a total douche to the point you really wanted to do something about it? You can look at the bright side, rather than dragging him off the machine, we out gamed him.
Some friends and I marathoned Gauntlet Legends on Dreamcast years ago. Hours and hours we spent burning through the worlds and we kept playing even after we unlocked the special characters.
My daughter and the twins played this incessantly on an old PC back in the late 80's, it was the exact same version that was in the arcade parlors. I can still see them with three sets of hands on the PC keyboard playing away. She was disappointed with me when I upgraded to a new PC because the new one did not have a 5 1/4 inch drive in it so they could play the game. The game needed the 5 /14 drive to be the boot drive to work.
When a different version came out on the PS3, I got it for them, but it was not the same game and they really did not end up playing it that much.
I hope their next game will be a Gauntlet: Dark Legacy full on remake, that and the previous title on the Nintendo consoles provided for a lot of family entertainment.
I was a kid 12 years old I remember. Thats time was the coin machine era : Pac-Man, Ms. pac-man, Galaga, Donkey Kong, Centipee etc. When I see the Firts Time Gaunlet I surprise a much because for me I never See a coin game machine with 4 player coop mode. A magician, a guy with big axe on hand ( like He-Man) and guy with bow with rare ear was awesome. The sound of the game was good and strong and the color and letter on gaunlet. For me was EPIC Moment . Thks for make this game again.
Do not buy this game! Its nothing like gauntlet at all. It has no features going for it, its 4 hours of gameplay, NO KEYBINDINGS!!!! and only wired xbox gamepads will work ( some have luck with emulators) 12 levels long of the same thing. The put the keys right in front of the locked doors, there no maze like qualitys at all, no secret rooms, no treasure rooms....and no refunds.
My favorite memories were of the first game and playing it in the arcade that was near the town I was living in. It was always a special treat for my friends and myself to get a trip to the arcade and Gauntlet was one of the best games which we always played.
That Guild Wars 2 login screen knocked up my wife. Must be the second coming!
My favorite memory of Gauntlet was this. A bunch of us were playing Gauntlet. We kept hearing "Red Elf has been eating all of the food lately". Next level, "Shots now hurt other players." Needless to say, Red Elf didn't last very long on that level.
My brother and I rarely get along, he's very different than my self on multiple reasons beyond gaming. When it does come to games, he likes his Jrpgs and I'm off playing 007 or star fox. How ever we rented Gauntlet Legends for N64 once and it was probably one of the only co-op games we played together often.
I think for me it is 5 words. "Valkyrie is about to die" I played Gauntlet in the arcade and I it seems like you coul;d also hear those lines no matter where you were in the building.
I did love the arcade version, but my best memories was the PlayStation port. I played and played with my son...and did so much better with the practice than I ever did in the arcade!
Sadly, I've never played any Gauntlet games before. I only found out about this game recently thru Steam. So this version of Gauntlet will be my very very first Gauntlet game!
So, do I still have a chance to win?
Will you host a game key give away also? because that will be really really nice!

My best memory was feeding the Red Warrior.
That is until they gimped the Warrior and Wizard.

Lost my mind, now trying to lose yours...

That was my first real multiplayer experience.

Many hours spent playing in smoke laden back room type arcade, found down an alley.
And from the alley to hear "Green elf needs food badly", "Red warrior is about to die!"
And the machine standing in all it's glory next to classics of the era.
Warrior Needs Food Badly! Warrior Needs Food Badly!
Cha-ching Cha-Ching
Warrior Needs Food Badly! Warrior Needs Food Badly!
Cha-Ching Cha-Ching
Warrior Needs Food Badly! Warrior Needs Food Badly!

First time I saw it in the Arcade , I had to wait in line about 1 hour to put my quarter in!
=/
Death is nothing to us, since when we are, Death has not come, and when death has come, we are not.
