Jet Li or Jackie Chan

In terms of combat. My friend and I were aruging about this the other day. I personally think Jet Li would own Jackie Chan in combat. But that's just me.

And please, don't say Bruce Lee. I know he'll own both of them (^_^)

Jackie Chan has endurence and evasion. Jet Li (without wires) has . . . speed and technique. I know Jackie won't give up. I vote Jackie.

  • Jean Claude Van Dam...no I'm just kidding, he's probably too busy snorting cocaine to even react to a fight.

I say Jet Li. I love Jackie Chan, but Jet Li is younger and faster. It's hard for me to believe that Jackie Chan is over fifty now, but he's taken some hits in his time, he's not as springy as he used to be. Also, Jet Li is more menacing. I look at Jackie Chan and want to give him a hug; I look at Jet Li and hope he's not quietly plotting my doom. Also, Jet Li has a special move that can kill any man at ten paces which cannot miss, just ask the King of Qin.

Yo man your post has amussed me. Thanks for the good laugh.

Jean Claude does drugs?image I guess I'll have to agree with you there. Hey man don't forget Rush Hour 2. He was real springy in that one and still got hurt. Chris Tucker...i don't think he ever got hurt.image

    EDIT

Drunken Master Jackie Chan would kick Jet Li's ass though. image

I say we throw in the guy that played American Ninja (Michael Dudikoff sp?)....

Jet Li would knock Jackie Chan's block off...both in their primes in combat Jet Li wins. Jackie Chan is amazing and extremely entertaining but for shear combat technique I would choose Jet Li.

For the record, I thought Hero was a damn good movie (at least the overseas version with subtitles, I never saw an english version)

  • Jean-Claude Van Damme was a big coke fiend in the 90's. At some point he got some hookers and brought them to his ocean side hotel room, snorted cocaine, and passed out. The hookers took the money and left without doing anything. When he woke up, Van Dam went into a frenzy and starting throwing all the furniture in the room into the ocean. He was arrested in 1999 for a DUI, and photos of him in the late 90's weren't very flattering. I've heard he's kicked the drugs with family and friends helping him, but I don't know because I haven't heard anything about him in a long time.

He was also the first choice to play the Predator in the Arnold film, but reportedly complained about the suit not showing his face and being too hot (he supposedly passed out from heat exhaustion many times), and not having a screen credit. So they fired him and hired a ten foot tall African (or was he seven?).

Thats interesting man. Thanks for the info. Personally, I liked him years bach when I watched his movies with my dad. His best line was in Street Fighter:

"I will kick that son-of-a-bitch (i think that was there) bison's ass so hard, that the next bison wannabe is going to feel it"

John Woo and Chow yun fat make better movies then either. but of the two i would say jet li.

he has done a lot more practical martial arts training then jackie and he has his own technique(style he started his own style and dojo and shit in china or japan or something)

with the exception of chow yun fat they dont make kong foo movies like they used to.

the best being circle of iron......

Omg you cant even compare the two because 1. Jackie is a fraud he doesnt even really know martial arts of any kind he just learned for the movies.
Jet li learned from the monks all his life from age 3 to age 21 and he could kick jackie chans ass off and hand it to him.

Jet Li wouldnt even break a sweat ,Jet Li wins hands down::::32::

With all due respect, you don't know jack. Jackie too was in an academy at a young age. [I read his biography.. >_>]

I don't particularly care for him but don't go and say that he doesn't know anything. He does, but Jet Li just looks a lot better.

Jackie Chan went to an opera school, like ballet and acrobatics type of thing. Jet Li trained in Wushu and was a martial arts champion a few times. If anyone is the real deal it is Jet Li. Even though I admire both I would go with Jet Li.

So are you saying that just because he trained in acrobatics that he never learned how to discipline himself and never went into hand-to-hand? How very wrong you are.

    http://www.time.com/time/asia/features/heroes/chan.html Has this to say

"This was the sacred covenant between the star and his fans: Jackie did his own stunts. These literally death-defying feats were remarkable as much for the damage Chan did to his body as the wit and grace he invested in them. His fans, watching him with awe and fear, peeking through splayed fingers, performed a complex stunt of their own: they teetered between praying this bundle of muscle would call it quits (for his safety), and hoping he wouldn't (for their moviegoing pleasure).

And so Jackie has kept on. He's been keeping on since he was seven, when the boy Chan Kong-sang went to live and study at Master Yu Jim-yuen's China Drama Academy. There he spent grueling 17-hour days learning Peking Opera balletics in the company of Samo Hung and Yuen Biao, who would become his lifelong pals and frequent movie co-stars.

Chan learned his fanatical show-biz dedication at the end of a whipping stick. The training regimen (of the sort dramatized in the film Farewell My Concubine) was exacting, sadistic and strangely satisfying, as the boy was forced to discipline his body in ways Nature was too timid to imagine. He had every reason to hate Master Yu, yet Jackie dedicated his 1998 autobiography to his memory. He knew that there was a purpose to the punishment.

When he graduated at 17 and went into movies full time as a stuntman—including two bits opposite Hong Kong superstar Bruce Lee—Chan found another display case for his masochistic machismo. Since then, his credo has been constant: no pain is too great if it gives pleasure"

Don't act like he doesn't have attitude, please. He went for ten years, the ages when one is also better suited for learning. Jet Li would straight up own his bum but otherwise Jackie could hold his own. The master was very disciplinary but wise; Think Kill Bill 2's master.
