Play the game and decide for yourself. Listening to posts by players that hate the game before giving it a fair chance is only making it tough for new players to want to try it out.
There are many cool systems in place for you to try out (like gliding/deep sea diving/boats!) and new ways to explore.
Yes, the game has "new game issues", but the devs are working on it and now that the queues have almost disappeared it's easier than ever to get in the game.

I'm not currently playing the game and remain pretty neutral. With that being said, most games after about this long tend to lose the queue time anyway, it has nothing to do with things being fixed. People have come to see what it is about, and most have probably left. The game isn't doing that well from posts I have read, reviews, metacritic (it still is a viable way to get an idea on a game), and most damaging is the actual General official forums. At it's current state the game just isn't doing that great. /shrug
Things could change, but I feel the damage was done by allowing f2p players start out at launch (greed possibly by Trion), discouraging those who had paid up front and causing a complete fubar of the system. These are just a few things I have noted over the past couple weeks.
Death is nothing to us, since when we are, Death has not come, and when death has come, we are not.

I've been reading pretty much the same. I personally am a bit ticked off they never gave my ticket (bug report) the time of day and keep replying with generic automated responses.
This combined with all the issues that seem to have existed for some time and the poor response Trion is giving to these is indication enough for me that this is a game I should wait on. If the hacking and community is as bad as I am reading, then it seems rather pointless to play at this time.
I still haven't quit but I am on the verge of quitting. The questing is incredibly boring. I think this is easily the most boring questing experience I have ever encountered in an MMO. Ok there are a few others which are worse but after questing in ESO and SWTOR all this seems incredibly dull. The story is very dull too.
Crafting is something which I kind of like. I like how many professions there are but everything seems to take so freaking long. I spent most of the time just waiting for stuff. It's like playing a farmville/candy crush kind of game where you need to wait for ages.
But I am at a point where I am getting sick of just crafting, farming and doing trade runs. I kind of like the PvP element of it but I am still not level 50 and a lot of the time it's kind of meh. Our guild is mostly around level 30-35 so we can't do much against all the level 50s.
I think that once I get completely bored with the farmville side of it, I will probably quit as there is not much else that I like.

If you are ok with extremely toxic community and open pvp style of game where people would gank you for sake of it and then trash talk to for hours then once queues settle down you would enjoy it. For me the problems go beyond the long queues.
I think i will stick to EVE even though recently i vowed never to return due to couple of recent incidents which left very bad taste in my mouth. But after playing AA... i realised EVE can't be this bad.
I am finally able to log on and start playing the game without having to wait in queues thanks to the early starter herds leaving the game. I am enjoying the game casually and it will be a long long time before I stop playing it for as long as it remains free. I'm not much of a PvPer so P2W isn't my main concern.
Well since AA was ultrauberoverhyped i decided to try, i quit after 4 days and here is why:
1. Combat feels more or less like any other mmo out there, so nothing special about that.
2. Crafting is....well you really need to subscribe for LP so i did not like the fact i was forced to pay real money to have LP and craft.
3. Community that toxic....i honestly never saw that in any other mmo and i played tons of them.
4. Open world? I can do what ever i want? Like what? Jump off the cliff? or run thru the woods O.o
Basically there is nothing new that AA has to offer.....we have housing in LOTRO and Wildstar and few other games, if you want tab targeting combat then better play WoW, leveling thru crafting we have in GW2 and not sure how many other mmos.....
Only thing i really like was the character models.....overall graphics are not that impressive for 2014....

Crafting in GW2 is joke. IThey are not even in the same league. LOTRO housing is terrible. I mean it's the worst housing I have ever experienced in an MMO.
Crafting and farming is the interesting part of the game. I am sorry this is going to sound blunt but I don't take the opinion of people who played the game f2p seriously. You just don't play Archeage without a sub imo. As f2p, this game sucks bad. With a sub it's much more fun.
Archeage is great because:
- it allows you to level up all classes on character
- has 21 crafting professions and the whole economy and gearing up process is centered around crafting
- Has farming
- Has naval combat and freaking ships
- Open world housing
YOu mention this game has that and that game has that. But is there a game which offers all of the above? I want to have farming, crafting, naval combat and ships. GW2, LOTRO, Wildstar and WoW don't offer this. I like how the examples you gave for the different features are probably the worst examples. LOTRO housig, GW2 crafting are horrible. Wildstar is the most boring and generic cookie cutter MMO ever. No wonder everyone quit after a month lol.

1) It's P2W, it really is. If I'm looking for a F2P game, it better be F2P.
2) Questing/PvE there's a lot better, more fun question & PvE elsewhere.
3) Weird UI, kind of like GW2s.
4) Animations are a bit odd, combat/movement/mounting feels clunky.
5) The community is horrible, even if you check some of the forum posts here, it's just not that great.
I could add some more but they aren't that important, those three are the main reason I uninstalled this game.
So you don't expect a company to get paid??? So you expect them to work for free???? You work for free, then come back and expect us Devs to work for freee, I don't get gamers like this..
That's fine if you dislike AA or any other games but this blows my mind... GAMERS who expect us DEVS to not get paid for our hard work!!!!!
By this comment, either A super young or your parents hand you everything and do not work.. I can tell by that comment.
Also being a gamer/developer
Weird UI, odd animations make zero sense, actually explain, why they are weird... and odd.... This is why games aren't doing well, comments like this.. Also to many gamers are about the whole me, me attitude.
By the way I do not play AA anymore, but these comments blow my mind.

There are indie games that offer stuff like this Darkfall.. Which a lot of gamers cant handle the full loot, which blows my mind, why people are attached to pixels.

What kind of devs don't get paid for working on a project ? Unless it's an indie studio that you founded yourself, most devs gets a regular pay for working. There is good F2P and there is bad F2P, different people have different degree of tolerance for what they consider P2W.
The only good F2P exemple I could give would be PoE, other than that I stick to sub games.
In the end, if the game is good, you don't have to come down with gimmicks to make people fork more money.
I like the game as a whole. I dislike being a subscriber and feeling like I still have to use the cash shop to play the game to its fullest. That will probably be the re reason I leave.

I decided I was done this last week after contemplating it. The grind (everything in game feels grindy...including sandbox stuff) is just too much. The only real difference between this and games made before it is the naval combat, but you must grind to get there. Everything else feels like it's been done ALOT better by other games.
Not a fan of tab targeting games, that makes pvp no skill based >.> lock the target and spam 1-0, F1-F10 for the win. advantage over here is for those with 'MMO mouse' and good ping .
pay to make it faster or wait for ever until u get bored and quit .
My friend asked me to try so i bought founder pack and sadly the game lasted 1 day until i uninstall .

I am in the same boat.
Add to that the grind (no, I'm not talking about the quests), the huge amount of botters/hackers/cheaters/exploiters using exploits/tools already known from RU/KO version and which already have an effect on AH prices and the really bad community (ok, that was to be expected in a F2P oPvP game unfortunately).
Still playing till subscription runs out but won't stay any longer. Game actually has some nice ideas (housing, craftig, sea combat) but the overall execution and lack of security measures is just bad.

Live Chat... get yourself in the queue at 6AM PST, hope that your number comes up before close of business.
Do a reversal transaction through your bank. Pretty much guarantees Trion will ban your credit card from any further purchases with them.

No one wants a sandpark MMO. Especially one that is dull and with a completely offensive community running the chat.
