I've been playing as a Vitality/Witchcraft/Auromancy at a low level. However, my one real healing spell barely heals at all. By the time it takes to cast it, the normal health regen is already almost healing it more. Also I'm barely level 10 and I'm bored to tears. There aren't any group events, the quests are so lame, and the story isn't really that enticing. I really want to enjoy this game and I think the end game has great potential. Am I correct? If so, how does everyone push on through to those higher levels without quitting from boredom?

It already sounds to me like are just following the quest train
Get off the train and pick something you want to be good at and go do it. ArcheAge is about setting goals. Approach it like you would real life. Set a goal to be good at something and just go do it. Otherwise you will hate it.
Stop questing and go do something that -you- want to do
Any mmo worth its salt should be like a good prostitute when it comes to its game world- One hell of a faker, and a damn good shaker!
This! Please elaborate. What can I do outside of the quest track to level up and get armor?

lol noone knows what to do outside of quests and crafting to level. Ive seen countless people who think this game is so amazing say that, yet never say how.
Im sure the games more fun when your at/near cap and can do more of the econmy/pvp stuff effectively, but like you i got to around 20 and was bored as hell. The game is decent, but i have plenty of issues with it:
bland fantasy setting, story is meh.
combat is typical which is worsend for me by the way things dont react or the animations feel like they lag behind whats going on.
PVE is super typical and below par.
the LP system holds back people who want to just craft.
land is always taken and cant be had unless you pay monthly,
bots.
negative vibe from the community...mainly coming from F2P which the game feels like it should not have been to begin with.
HackShield is a joke.
and of course the ques are beyond crazy with customer support being even worse.
...i could go on...but yah get it.
Like i said i dont hate it, but it feels pretty standard with a very SLIGHT sandbox edge to it...but still barely. If you dont like it 20-30 levels in, you wont like it at all...just unistall like i did and wait to see how it turns out in a few months.
The first 15 levels are easily burned through. Not sure what level the first dunegeon is but for sure 18 because that is ther level you need for a quest in the dungeon.
You can harvest/farm/craft etc...
You can PVP albeit the higher you are obviously your survival will be much more likely.
Get a boat and scavenge for treasure. Kill Pirates. Run from the Pirates backup.
Myself I am in a fair sized guild/alliance so company is never a problem.
You wont do much healing until you get around level 20 and get your first Club / greatclub, there the only weapons that have healing power on them, so at higher levels you will have to switch between staff / club or great club to do damage or heal
Well the best way is just to come to these forums and ask ......let's see level 10 means you have 50 gilda stars have completed the green story quests and are running 20 -30 gold worth of trade packs a day?
Why would you be worried about doing any quest until you hit a level to do the gilda star dailies ?
You can only harvest/farm/craft as long as you have LP. I have 5000, but that's because I barely log in anymore. Leveling up by farming or crafting is insanely boring and slow. Plus it cost a lot of LP.
Healing is not tied to Intelligence...it is Spirit based.
I remember reading early on that the only way to level as a healer was in a group. Period.
So most folks I know leveled with some heals and some dps, and made notes about which build to use either for healing a dungeon or when they get to 50. The additional challenge (as I understand it) is that the healing weapons in game at the moment are only fair, with new ones coming.
The only thing you can do outside of questing is crafting. They make it sound that you can do whatever you want but ultimately you either quest or craft to level up.

The effectiveness of your heals rely mostly on what weapon you're using. You're likely using a staff since you're a caster, but staves give little to no benefit to healing. The weapons that have +healing on them are greatclubs(2h) and clubs(1h).
I was leveling as a cultist (occultism/vitalism/sorcery) and like you was attempting to heal with the damage gear on. It worked for the first dungeon around level 20, but it was rough. Then I found a greatclub with +114 healing on it. Equipped it and my heals increased by ~375%. Antithesis went from healing 300-400 per cast to 1100-1400, crits of 2k, and made it so that I only had to toss out a couple heals when rerunning the dungeon.
Also be aware that the primary stats are different between healers and casters, Intellect increases magical damage and Spirit increasing healing.
Apparently they used to be the same stat but I get why they had to separate them. It just sucks for hybrid healers because you have to weapon swap. On that note, spells' effectiveness is dynamic in relation to your stats, meaning if you equip a greatclub - cast a heal over time - then switch back to your staff, the heal loses power since you no longer have the +healing.
Hope this helps you or anyone else that seems a little confused about healing.
+Int for mana pool as well. For healers wouldn't it go like this? +Healing > +Spirit > +Int > +Stamina
I actually had to ask around, but the majority said prioritize +Healing > +Spirit > +Stam > +Int
What I got from them was that as a healer you need hefty HP pool, since you're likely going to be the first one targeted in PvP, and for the most part the spirit will regen your mana so you don't need a large pool. On top of that there are food buffs that increase your mana pool.
Also the most common healing weapon combination is a Club + High Stam Shield
Awesome.

This game has tons of stuff to do, the only times I have gotten bored were when I was quest grinding, which you really don't have to do. Tending to my farming I have been able to get my own mats to level up using labor. Labor XP pots help a ton. Yes questing is boring, at that moment it feels like just another MMO. If you let yourself NOT quest grind you will find there is a pretty cool world out there.
craft it. Craft other things and play the market. Be a fisherman and sell the sport fish. Be an underwater treasure hunter. Ninja farm stuff that's selling well, or regular farm it. Don't ignore the questing entirely, you'll want to do the quests with green punctuation for gilda stars at least. There's a fuckload of stuff you can do. Also google starting 50 gear, as I've seen some threads about that type of shit, decent gear from select quests, but didn't really read em.
Im done with this game. I too was a healer Vit/Aur/Witch and the leveling was horrible. I tried to do "other things' but with no land available on the two servers I tried, crafting was too difficult. Since that was what I wanted to do (own land and a house/farm) there was no point in playing.
Another wasted MMO.
Current Games: WOW, EVE Online
So...In what game leveling as a healer is easy?
Also, level 10 and already complaining? have you even gotten the other 2 classes? Get at least to the first dungeon, fail at healing and then come complain.
When I got to the first dungeon I too struggled a lot, Then crafted a club and everything got better. Then I stopped playing =P.
So where exactly is the first dungeon? I heard from people on my server that the level for it is 18 but they didn't tell me exactly where or what it was.
The first dungeon you'll find in Mahadevi, in the City of Towers.
The dungeon is Palace Cellar and there are quests for both mentor and mentee.
If you were following your green (main) quests you'd already be in Mahadevi by level 18.
I'm only saying this because it's what happened to me. Even though I sidetracked a lot.
A guildie asked me for it and I didn't know I could run a dungeon at the time.
You need a weapon that has healing power to be effective in healing. i.e. maces/1hand spears.
Personally, any build in Archeage would work, to a degree. My personal preference is that one damage dealing tree to level up two support trees. Your build, witch/vit/auro, doesn't have a damage dealing tree, thus the problem. Witch is excellent in CC/weaken, vit has weaken/buff for offensive, and auro is purely a butterfly tree (sounds good, supports good, but if you use it wrong nothing happens).
My build for my alt, just for fun, is vit/wit/song. At low level one set of combos I can oneshot any mob; maybe two for one star. But it'd be different for high levels. If you want to quest for leveling, you should pick any of the damage trees, arch/battle/shadow/occ/sorc.
