How long have you been mmo free ?

I think it has been something like 7-8 months for me not playing any kind of mmos. The last mmo I played was WoW and haven't looked back since. I was really disappointed we will not be getting Blizzard's new mmo. I thought if there was a company that could change the face of how mmos are today Blizzard would be it but I was wrong. I'm guessing a lot of others felt the same way too. Now today I just look at the mmo genre and just shake my head in disappointment. I miss the mmo genre the way it was back in the day until developers tried to make ever mmo into a single player experience because today most gamers are antisocial. On the other hand gaming has never been better on my Xbox One. Been playing Destiny and EA sports games. Looking forward to some Dragon Age Inquisition and a few others. I miss the mmo genre but I don't think there is a reason to ever go back playing mmos until developers realize that mmos are not single player experiences. How long have you been mmo free ?

You said you're playing Destiny though.

I actually don't play any MMOs, I just hang around the forums and toss out random quotes that'll get people going. You know, like "SWG was horrible" or things like that.

Destiny is not a mmo. It might be marketed at one but it isn't.

Hehe, lol, see what I just did there. That's it! That's why I come here! :)

Honestly, though, I haven't been without some MMO in my stable for........ hmmmm. 7 years? In around there.

LOL well it honestly isn't. It plays more like the original Guild Wars except zones are shared and God yes I do miss my Guild Wars! That was such an awesome ip until ArenaNet decided to make a mmo. One of the best things about Guild Wars was that it wasn't a mmo. It was like the best antimmo game everyone loved to play.

Lol, well I've got Shadow of Mordor right now, plus I've got PIllars of Eternity and Torment: Tides of Numenera on the way, as well as Dragon Age.

Unfortunately, I'm having some difficulty disengaging from Destiny. I was done, seriously I was. Then I made the critical error of spending a half hour doing some crucible, turned in a bounty and got an exotic weapon bounty. Dammit!! Now I'm torn, what to do. Plus WoW Expack is coming in November. So I'm not quitting any time soon.

I can't say I'm MMO free, but I might be on the verge.

My mainstay, Lotro, I just logged in a couple days ago, and it told me I hadn't been on in 2 weeks!  Was on for 20 minutes, started feeling "meh-ish" and quit.

I fiddle around with STO... mostly just doing DOFF's and crafting; 5 minutes tops.  Haven't been in a single combat since the Crystalline entity event a few weeks back.

I've been mostly playing Wasteland 2, and even that ended last week when an area I need to go to to continue the game refused to pop up on my map, and I don't feel like going to a previous save, redoing hours of the game with the possibility that it STILL might not pop up.

I've been getting a bit disenchanted with video games in general, lately.  That could be a good thing, but Winter is just around the corner...

I was MMO free for over a year. During that hiatus, I was only hitting the weak sauce Minecraft which was and is fun as hell. But over the past weekend, I fell off the wagon and into LOTRO. I'd sort of forgotten how good the game is, and how massive the landscape has become. I'm having fun again in LOTRO with a newish low level character. We'll see what happens when I hit the LI grind, but I'm not going to worry about it. I just want to see the areas that I haven't seen yet (Gondor, Rohan, Isengard).

    About 17 hours.

I can not remember winning or losing a single debate on the internet.

Yep!  I still think Lotro is a good game.  And I do like their direction toward smaller, more frequent updates this year.  But the last major update has a 6 faction coin grind that you build from daily RNG quest rewards.  I just got tired of doing these fargin' dailies just to end up get more random coins from factions I don't need.

Maybe I just need to roll a new toon.  I'll probably do that when Bjornings come out.

It has been about a year now I think since I've really sat down and played an MMO longer than 5 minutes. I guess I'm just getting bored of the genre.

    Poll needed!

(Last time I played was a year after EQ's latest progression servers lauched; so I think that would be 2011. Hard to say since wikipedia deleted a lot of historical EQ information!)

Luckily, i don't need you to like me to enjoy video games. -nariusseldon.
In F2P I think it's more a case of the game's trying to play the player's. -laserit

    Hello....

My name is Laserit and I'm a MMORPG-aholic

Step 1: We admitted we were powerless over MMORPG's and that our games have become boring and mundane.

Step 2: Came to believe that a Player greater than ourselves has defeated us in PVP, fairly and squarely.

Step 3: Made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of our Fearless Guild Leader, as we understood Him.

Step 4: Made a searching and fearless moral inventory of our Character skills and attributes.

Step 5: Admitted to our Guild Leader, to ourselves, and to other Guild Member's, the exact nature of our wrongs

Step 6: Were entirely ready to have our Class Officer's remove all these defects from our character.

Step 7: Humbly asked our Guild Leader to accept our shortcomings.

Step 8: Made a list of all player's we had ganked, and became willing to make apologeeze to them all.

Step 9: Made direct amends to such player's wherever possible, except when to do so would cause our side to lose.

Step 10: Continued to take personal inventory and when we sucked we promptly admitted it.

Step: 11: sought through play time and medication to improve our conscious contact with the game, as we understood it, praying only for knowledge of the Raids and the power to make it through.

Step 12: Having had a spiritual awakening as the result of these Steps, we tried general chat to message other MMORPG-aholics, and to practice these principles in all our Raids, Battlegrounds and Dungeon runs.

    I am a MMORPG-aholic

I never decided to stop playing mmos but it's been a few months since I've played one. I have been playing a lot of other multiplayer games though so it's probably just that there are games we'd rather play right now instead of any of the mmos out there right now.

There was a time I was MMO-Free for about 2 years. Now, though, I usually sign into an MMO every couple of weeks or so. It may be EQ, old EQ (private server), or Wizard101.

Now, if you asked me how long it has been since I spent money in an MMO, I could answer with $60 last May for Wizard101. I may subscribe to that again in the future, though.

Personally the only modern MMORPG trend that annoys me is the idea that MMOs need to be designed in a way to attract people who don't actually like MMOs. Which to me makes about as much sense as someone trying to figure out a way to get vegetarians to eat at their steakhouse.

I always play EVE since release. However I have not had a good mmorpg to play since vanilla wow PRE TBC. I still Play UO sometimes as well. But honestly there to me personally has not been a single good mmorpg release since WoW. So i haven't been mmorpgless becauase i just go back to EVE after every single failed mmorpg but i'd prefer to play something newer if it ever came along which it wont.
