Would you pay $1000 for a lifetime subscription to World of Warcraft

BattlerockBattlerock Member CommonPosts: 1,393

As the title says would you pay $1000 for a lifetime sub and all xpacs included?

Short answer for me: Yes

However, on a personal note, I would finance $5000 just to be able to play WoW including all xpacs for the rest of my life.

Would you pay just $1000 ?

I usually buy lifetime subs if they're available for the games I like.  The most I'd pay for WoW would be $250 maybe $300.00 that's it.  Not including expansions.

I would pay if God or whatever can guarantee to me that I will live for at least next 10 years.

    no...why...waste of money..have better things to do with a grand then wow..like um..groceries..or rent..or car payments..etc..etc..etc..

That's the equivalent of 5½ years of subscription fees. I bought WoW the day it launched and my total subscription time for the 3 or 4 periods that I played hasn't even reached a combined 5½ years. So that's a no.

Maybe $500 would be something that MIGHT be able to be argued if it included free services (which or horridly prized, one of the most disgusting costing cash shops in a game and it is a P2P game).

Honestly, It would have be $250-300 for me to consider... with a time machine to have it retroactive to me paying for it when i first started to play it.

I love WoW but no, mostly because I couldn't afford to just chunk down 1k for anything. I mean you are still paying for 5 and a half years of subs... so I think 1k for a lifetime sub is a bit much even with expansions included.  I think something around $300 would be a sufficient price point and a value to customers, 1k is just an overshot at this point.

Considering that I only played Vanilla (which I liked) - the expansions took the game in a direction I didn't like.

Also IMO WoW is heading for F2P so again not worth it.

All f2p items included? How about that?

Yes you will live forever actually if you buy this.

Nothing in existance can make that guarantee.

Nothing can make that guarentee but hypothetically let's say it's possible just for World of Warcraft lifetime sub members.

Only if I was diagnosed as insane.  Even then I'd question doing so.

Yes but you never have to shell out money for a game again, think about it.

It's 1k and then it's done you get to play for free forever after that.

Hell no, not even at it's golden peak.

Let's assume this is the last and only game on earth though, how about then?

Have you been to a doctor lately? Perhaps this is a good time to go, when you get back answer this question legitamately. Would you after coming home from the doctor pay $1000 for a lifetime sub to WoW all expacs included?

You've played a lot of games,  why would you say hell no to this? Someone with your experience surely would recognize this as a great deal.

No, because WoW is now a PoS.

There is a new expac coming out and it's actually tapping into old lore - you may want to rethink this.

no i'd rather keep on paying a sub when i feel like playing..  feels like less of a commitment then

I had fun once, it was terrible.

After you payed there is no commitment, it's going to be there for the rest of your life, come and go at will.

I would give it some thought ... but would this also include the purchasable pets and mounts or future ones for that matter?

Does it include transfers, faction changes and such? What about insta 90's?

And what assurance do I have that the game will be there for the next 6-10 years?

If it were possible for the same thing to entertain me for the rest of my life (and assuming this hypothetical assumes WoW never shuts down), then yeah, you have a great deal there. Personally, however, I enjoy more games than just MMOs (and more hobbies than just gaming), so that's not gonna hold up for me. That $1000 can buy me 16+ other videogames at full price on their release date, or twice that many if I buy a bunch of cheaper ones that I missed out on over the years.

But hey, I get it...every person spends their time differently and places different value on their money. In this case, I haven't played WoW since a few months after Cataclysm released and have no craving to return, and $1000 can buy me quite a bit of other stuff.

5.5 years of playing the same game is a long long time.  even if you assume they have an expansion every 2 years it would still be 5 years of sub time + the cost of the expansions.

Wow is a very good game, which i enjoyed greatly for many years... but a while back the devs announced it would stop at level 100, they have since revised their standpoint and now say they have 10 years of expansion lined up. They can change their minds whenever they want so from a purely financial standpoint, do you believe wow will continue for more than 5 years?  I'm not convinced it will be going strong as a sub game in 5 years.  Perhaps, but I truly hope that within 5 years the genera will have the next big thing - be it from blizzard or otherwise.  Another thing to think of is do you really think you'll not get bored of the same game 5 more years from now?

Back many years ago I might have mistakenly thought it would be a good deal and that i'd be playing wow forever, but not with the current state of the game.  I was extremely disappointed with panda land.

The game will be there forever it will never die, you have access to aquiring all items in game through playing the game, that includes al the little pets and mounts and whatever they through out there. insta 90's you make at will so you can have as many as you want on any realm.

Honestly I don't play WOW.  But to be honest, if this was offered at launch, even though lifetime subs were not something to be known about at that time, I am willing to bet that a fair amount of people would of purchased it for $1000.00 knowing full well that it would be around for quite some time.

Look at people who have previously bought EQ characters for insane amount of money, or the fact many have spent countless dollars on gold and other things ingame.

Look at Star Citizen if you think its crazy, BLIZZARD in 2004 was heads above nearly any developer out there.  It would of sold countless lifetimes.
