How many years have you been playing MMORPGs?

I Started playing MMOs since 8 years ago when I was 14. And when I first came across Conquer Online, it was fun and great. No trashtalking, no spams, mining Dragon Balls, grinding hard to level, etc. But I haven't played it since 2011, and instead I started to play the Diablo series, and later Path of Exile. I notice that IGN posted news about Conquer Online's big expansion, adding a new character Lee-Long to the game this year. It kind of piqued my curiosity as to what kind of this class would be like. Path of Exile and the Diablo series are still hardcore players' cuppa, and Conquer Online, despite on-and-off playing time, is becoming more of a leisure game with PvP features.

It seems more and more people tend to use their fragmented time to play games, meaning lesser players spend time on MMOPRGs.

I have been playing MMO for 10 years. Starting with a F2P game named Conquer Online. And I had a great moment with it. The moment that sticks in your memory more than the others. The moment which really means something to you personally, not just in the world of games.

It was around ten or so years ago, and CO was pretty much the only game that I played at the time. I was thoroughly addicted to this game for almost 7 years. My main character at the time was a Trojan by the name of DoubleHit.

And he's also wielding a super +12 2soc Blade that played a part in my greatest gaming moment. The only way to get it is as a result of a lot of hard works and luck. I worked on it for a few months, getting help where I could from friendly groups and my guildmates ("WeMakeDaRules"), and when I couldn't get any help I would just try it myself.

In old school Conquer Online. If you will lose a hefty chunk of the experience that you had gained. This experience would sometimes take many days to gain back, and you would also at the risk of losing your best gears and items. All you folks out there who got their introduction to MMORPGs with WoW don't know how easy you have it. Conquer online was hard. Ok. “Was”.

Right now, I still open it sometimes to meet with my old friends. Just talk, hardly play. Not because it was not good, just don’t have time for it. But I still want to say thank you to my friends.

Around 7-8 years ago. I think my first MMO was Runescape.

I started playing back with Ultima Online and EverQuest.

Been playing these dopey games ever since...

That Guild Wars 2 login screen knocked up my wife. Must be the second coming!

Funny, I actually played conquer on and off for about 8 years or so until earlier this year when I finally kind of gave up trying to win against bulkers, since that is their main crowd. I have been playing MMOs for about 10 or 11 years now. I remember playing Runescape when I first started middle school, and then shortly after that Knight Online, and Conquer Online. I also played Diablo 1 and 2 when AOL dial up was still a thing. If you consider text based Online RPGs the early based MMOs then I have been playing much longer.

Played MMORPGs since FFXI days. Never got into the EQ craze. Lately I have gravitated away from playing them regularly.... most I lose interest in.

Since 1999 playing my fave game of Unreal Tournament 99 some female player kept telling me to try EQ so finally i did and was nbot overly impressed, not until FFXI around 2003/4 did i finally begin to like MMORPG's.Well it also helpd that my UT game had gone south with poor design decisions or else i probably would have still been playing fps's.

Those Asia mmorpg's were a complete turn off for me,the most popular being MU online, but oddly enough i did find some enjoyment and unique game play in Silkroad online.

Pvp has NEVER interested me in mmorpg's always done terribly bad,so much so that now i auto look the other way at rpg's trying to do pvp.

I started with a Commodore 64 in 1982. Then I discovered Meridian 59 in 97 and I was hooked. Since then I've played just about every major MMO released, UO, EQ, DAoC, SWG, EnB, EVE, WoW, EQ2, AoC, Vanguard, CoH, the list goes on.

Back to old days, we are online and we are dedicated into the game. We grouped up for a Ragnaros, me and other 39 pals were eager to defeat him. There was so much fun 7 years ago, but I don't have such a feeling today. I guess games change and I change too.

Started online MMO'ing with EQ back in 1999, but I only tinker with F2P games now at about an hour or two per week..  If that..  Games today are less social, less about PvE role playing, with way to much PvP'ing..  I don't like PvP in with my PvE..  They mix like oil and water..

Started back in 1999 with Phantasy Star Online before moving onto FF XI and Lineage 2, and ultimately WoW. It's been a long, strange road.

13 years ago. And ever since it has been a sad slow decline watching the freedom and immersion in worlds (even with bad graphics or even 2d graphics) you once had fade away. Now you get instanced worlds, crybabies, hold your hand type game-play, linear zoned worlds (besides a few), and no freedom to really feel unique or impact the world. The MMO genre is in a bad place at the moment. Indie games bring the passion and ideas but just not the professionalism and polish needed to revive the feel of the great games.

18 years, it all started with Dark Sun Online: Crimson Sands, though DAOC has my fondest memories nothing has held my attention like DAOC... But I have played most all MMO's

My first MMO was Asheron's Call.  I was lucky enough to get into the beta back in July 1999 and started playing when it released in November of 1999.

However I consider MMO's an extension of my Pen & Paper RPG days.  Started with D&D in 1982 and played for many years, other games I consider spiritual successors to MMO's that I played are Necromunda, Warhammer, Axis and Allies, Fortress America, Shadowrun, Twilight 2000, and Magic the Gathering.

Sandbox means open world, non-linear gaming PERIOD!

Subscription Gaming, especially MMO gaming is a Cash grab bigger then the most P2W cash shop!

Bring Back Exploration and lengthy progression times. RPG's have always been about the Journey not the destination!!!
