This week we are going to take a look at the single biggest character in Eternal Crusade! The planet Arkhona itself! While there is quite a lot about Arkhona we don’t, and can’t know, as part of the fun of playing Eternal Crusade is going to be discovering more about Arkhona and what is happening there; still there is a good deal of information about the planet available to the Eternal Crusade community.

Becoming a "Founder" for a Warhammer subscription game that's not even out yet? I THINK NOT.
Warhammer has interesting books, but they are absolutely not to be trusted in the video game market(I'm aware Games Workshop only does the licensing, not actual development on the many games they've released over the years). This game is going to have to impress me with features and gameplay before they get one cent from me, Warhammer video games have just been so subpar historically.
it is not broken at all

A quick CORRECTION/EXPLANATION- Eternal Crusade takes place right at the END of the Thirteenth Black Crusade, so it's technically still M41, and not M42, as I suggested in the article.
My thanks to Ivan Mulkeen for correcting me, congrats to EC forum-goer Beargryllsvitu for catching it, and my apologies to all of you for not being clearer. I will try not to do it again
Oh, and yes, MEPHISTON!

Hey Orbitxo, I'll get someone on this asap.
Wonderful article and thank you. Some food for thought for space and WH40K geeks:
1. Arkhona is part of a Trinary star system. I wonder how that will affect day/night cycles? It doesn't say what sort of Trinary system this is, e.g. are one or more of the suns dwarfs? It could also be that Arkhona is locked by gravity, e.g. it has a side that is perpetually dark and one that is perpetually light. But I just have trouble envisioning how this would work in a Trinary system. In a game sense, I think some races have natural nightvision while others must use technology? It is not yet clear how the developers plan to model lighting, but I hope they creatively consider the possibilities of a Trinary star system.
2. Arkhona has half the size of Earth, but retains Earth-like gravity. I assume that means that the matter of Arkhona itself is twice as dense as Earth? It sounds like it doesn't have oceans, which may account for that. And perhaps a core that does not contain as much magma as solid rock/metal. My first thought here is that this ideal if the developers want a world honey-combed with vast, deep caverns and passages. Exploring the deepest depths of Arkhona would be a true challenge. And of course, a honey-comb underground makes for lots of Tyranid lairs, as well as possibly a great way to spring the Necron faction on players in the future.
3. Very cool that the planet distress call comes from an Inquisitor. This raises hopes for an early appearance for an Inquisition/Battle Sisters faction! More support from this comes from the thought that the Inquisitor probably was from the Ordo Hereticus, since Arkhona is an Imperial World. The Ordo Hereticus investigates threats from within, which includes rogue psykers. The military arm of the Ordo Hereticus are the Adeptas Sororitas. Chances are that if the Inquisitorial expedition itself sent the distress message, it would not have used psychic powers but rather normal communications. Chances are high, therefore, that the "distress call" is some form of trap set by a rogue psyker. But if so, why?
4. Further intrigue beckons from the fact that the one who received the psychic distress call was a Blood Angel. Why a Blood Angel, who was off world, rather than one of the remaining Imperial citizens or the Space Wolves, both already having a presence in-system? Clearly, this was a message meant for the Blood Angels. But why?
5. And while we are at it, why did the Space Wolves already have an outpost on Arkhona and not the other chapters? If Severina was coming to Arkhona, would they not have been apprised? If not, why? If yes, why aren't they the ones leading the search for an answer to the mystery?
6. How did Arkhona go from being an Imperial Fortress World to being scorched and near-lifeless? I imagine that new asteroid belt and missing planet had something to do with it.
Hmmm...
There are lots of opportunities to create a game world with intriguing lore and RP issues.
Have you not read the Bible?
Oh, yeah, yeah... Not all of it. Actually, I'm listening to it on tape.
Don't tell me how it ends.

Just a quick correction:
"Following the Thirteenth Crusade, life in Arkhona returned to normal,"
Eternal Crusade takes place at the tail end of the 13th Black Crusade; not after it., and life is certainly anything but "normal" there; it's a planet trying to recover from war.
