    • What do you mean when you say Hardcore?
    • What do you think of the relationship between Hardcore players and the games they play?
    • Can you give an example of an experience you recollect to be the most Hardcore you have had; And, why you think it was that way?
I think hardcore is as many have said, playing a game with much risk in what you would lose. On the winning side you would gain something of value to you for putting up stakes to risk what you have.

Hardcore players may play an assortment of MMO's even WoW as people hate so terribly. If people put in 8 hours raiding a boss for some piece/pieces of loot and they get enjoyment out of it and are happy with the outcome, I would call that hardcore in a way.

Now as for me, I think Ultima Online was the most hardcore game I've ever played. I remember playing in the 90's and gathering up enough Invulnverability gear and that Vanquishing weapon, going out and turning "Red" meaning PK or player killer. I would go around killing people and looting getting much enjoyment from looting corpses DRY. The major risk there if you die, you lose your Invuln armor and Vanq weapon and also depending on how many people you killed. You might have to macro some time as a ghost before ressurecting or you can lose some of your permanent skills from 100 down to 75 for each of your skills.  Or killing someone with a castle deed on them which can be looted and then you place it, then turn around and sell on ebay for 900$.  That's what I think hardcore is.

    haha presto!
