Long story short. Been away for eight months or so. Made a premade 90 on the PTR. Meh, what the hell. I'll give it a shot. Reroll on a new server and see about getting back into guilded raiding. Should I resub now, or wait for the new expansion to hit. Are the garrisons, new textures, ability to level up, and new instances out on Live yet? I don't mind waiting a week or so for WoD to arrive.
Thanks.

What you see on the PTR is on live now... sans some bug/balancing fixes.
There is a mediocre pre-expansion event that takes all of 20 minutes to do. Other than that, it's a waiting game until WoD goes live.
Sub the day of the release. You can purchase and download the expansion now, you don't need a sub to do that. Wait for launch (next thursday), level to max (2 weeks tops), then the usual from there on out.
Boosted character at level 60, boosts professions to 600 (first aid and your two chosen ones, the others don't get boosted).
Booster character at level 1 only boosts character level, no professions.
You have to have a level 50 or greater character on the server you are on in order to create and boost a DK.
All in all, you've waited this long, wait a week + longer. Dink around on the PTR until then. No cost investment.
Return only if you fail to find alternative game that you can enjoy for far less. I've bought WOW's expansion every time on release until now. I'm just fortunate to find other games that I enjoy without costing me $30 monthly to play them (in the first 4 months)
Bro, you need less MMORPGs and more RL job if you sweat $60 that tough. Seriously, I see you posting how terrible the cost of WoWs x-pack is on here all the time. It's $60 which is a tank of gas for some people, you act like it's a mortgage payment for the x-pack.
Thanks for the replies. I'll order the game tonight then and wait until the 14th to sub.
Been hopping around F2P to F2P game for awhile now. Its hard getting myself into a game after been in Warcraft since Nov 24 2004. I just know this game so well. When MoP released, I left my guild after...six or so years. Life happened so I was reduced to the LFR. Was alright for a little while. Just got burned out. Most of the fun in raiding comes from getting on Vent. I now have a day or two a week that is open for me to raid. Figure get refreshed, start a new character, new professions, new server, get a few guild applications out there and raid a night or two a week.
I'll spend the next few days making premade 90s on the PTR feeling out the classes to see what feels comfortable. Been an MT Warrior forever so its what I'm familiar with. Mage wasn't bad. Enhance shaman was a bit clunky to me. I just get onto a warrior and know exactly what to do.
Thanks again for the replies.

Oh, now I'm sweating for $60 and it looks like it's too much for me....I act like it's a mortgage payment. Again, you compare apples vs oranges with the "a tank of a gas".
One day you'll be thanking me and others like me...years from now for being able to enjoy your WOW for far cheaper than you are paying today. This has nothing to do with affordability. The cost Blizzard demands for its product it doesn't worth for me, bottom line. If it does for you then good, but don't come here telling posters they need to get a real job when they choose not to pay for what you are paying.
Yeah bro I'll sell you my toenail clippings for $60.
You don't think they're worth $60? Get a job
Every MMO I have ever purchased has been around $50 - $60 at release. A WoW expansion is supposed to give you 2 years of entertainment if you divide that up between the sub and the box price it's like $17.50 a month for unlimited hours of entertainment which is ridiculously cheap, a 2 hour movie ticket is $15 now a days.
There is this thing called fair market value which basically sets a range for what a product is worth. Unlike games like AA that charge $150 for "alpha" access then a sub, which is way over FMV, WoW is right on par with other games of the genre.
Fair Market Value according to who?
According to me... $15.00 for a shitty movie and 10min worth of tv commercials is way too much. I wait a month and maybe watch it for $3.50 if it at all appeals to me. Maybe some of them big shot Movie Stars should take a little pay cut.
There is a big difference between being cheap and being a mindless dumbass consumer.

The market.
http://www.businessdictionary.com/definition/fair-market-value-FMV.html
This is why it's called "fair" market value, because prices are set by what the majority of people find to be a fair exchange of money for a product.
Or we could just all assume that blizzard has some diabolical plan to take the stupid consumer's money by delivering a box full of M&Ms wrapped in a WoD video game box for $60.
???
According to your linked definition
What you or I consider to be Fair Marley Value, can be two different things and either one of us are neither right nor wrong. And because someones opinion on what is fair market value is different from your own, it does not make them cheap or unemployed as is what you insinuated at Kopogero

It takes longer than a month to go to dvd...
and in that case, wait 6 months for the xpac to drop in price...
I have to agree, I saw his post as well. WoW has a lot of content for the price....
Death is nothing to us, since when we are, Death has not come, and when death has come, we are not.
You are completely missing the point. Yes, we have a difference of opinion on what the x-pack should cost but that is irrelevant, fair market value is used in pricing products. There is a team of people at blizzard that have analyzed the MMO market and based on the selling price of other games with similar offerings they determined that $60 is the going rate for this type of game. These same people will periodically revisit based on the state of the game and age of the game then re-align the price accordingly.
The point you both are missing is that it doesn't matter what you or I think the game should sell for, it's going to be priced at the market value. If it were way over market value they would have a hard time selling it and it would fail, if they priced it way below market value they would devalue the game by having an influx of F2P type players. The latter would also hurt other games of similar quality in the genre.
P.S. - There is a difference in what a person feels a widget is worth and what that widget is actually worth. To one person WoD may not be worth $10 because they don't get $10 worth of enjoyment out of playing and to another it may be worth $100 because they get that amount of pleasure out of it. Telling one person not to buy the game because you don't think it's worth it is the same as me saying it's a good value for the money... Moot point.
Most movies take about a month to hit the cheap theatre ("Hollywood 3" where I live) where it costs me $20 to take my wife to a show, including 2-large pops, 1-large popcorn with butter and no TV commercials.
The TV commercials is where the big name theatre's lost me.
"Be water my friend" - Bruce Lee
Again, to you waiting a month to see a movie you really want to see is worth the money you save but to most people it's not. Fair market value isn't based on the minority, it's based on the majority.
#1 This is not a new MMO release, it's expansion (which is another version of content/patch update)
#2 Every MMO I have ever purchased has not been around $50-60. The last new MMO I've purchased was DC Universe Online, Jan 11th, 2011. It cost me $35 (thx to some promo they had on launch) + 30 days free on top. Before that Eve Online, cost me again $20 to get all the latest expansions and 30 days free with promo.
#3 I wish your math was accurate. WOTLK was the expansion I recall vividly when I was left without content for year+ before the new expansion and everyone who's played WOW lately knows how long the game has been going without new raids. You know how it goes, fool me once...shame on you, fool me twice shame on me.
$Forking 19.17 USD, which is $21 CAD every month to enjoy a single game CASUALLY (it's after all a casual game where I can clear difficult content for 9 hours in the week and 2-5 for content on farm) until I have to go look for another MMO when I'm again left without anything to do for year+ is not something I see myself supporting and being part of. On top since the game has launched despite the enormous, historic success they've had and the amount of $ they've took from me WOW today has cash shop, and it allows you to instant level your characters to max for a fee on top of all the other fees they've been charging its player base. Add the fact today is 2014 where the market is different and the game is older and they've lost almost half of their global subs their wise decision would be to scrap the expansion fee, not add additional $10 to it.
Blizzard has proven one thing and one thing only to its player base. It's losing the throne and this can be beneficial for other players in the industry. If I was running a successful company with hundreds of millions at stake, the last thing I would want is to create an image of greed to the public. It will backfire for them and they've lost $ from me in the process. Their wounds are self inflicted and they deserve what they get just like everyone else with their actions.
No matter how much math you put into it, it is all about entertainment, cheap entertainment.
Death is nothing to us, since when we are, Death has not come, and when death has come, we are not.
Let's see... $60 is the price for a NEW game... you know, like classic WoW... 60 levels, lots and lots and lots of brand spanking new content, PLUS 30 days free game time.
WoD... $50 for an expansion/$15 for 30 days game time... 10 levels, the same amount of content or less as MoP... all for $65.
Which was the better investment?
You are paying more and getting less. That is an absolute.
Fair Market Value is something that usually is used in the context of real estate, used machinery, used cars etc.etc. I've never thought about what's fair market value for an MMORPG expansion or a box of cornflakes for that matter. I find the term being used in the entertainment industry to be kind of pointless and undefinable
Blizzard is charging a new high when it comes to the price of an MMORPG expansion, which they are fully entitled to do. We can argue till the cows come home whether the price is going to be worth it or not.
"Be water my friend" - Bruce Lee
The money has absolutely nothing to do with it.
Wasting my valuable time with TV commercials has everything to do with it. The movie industry crossed a line with me, they lost my patronage.
You have your own line, and thats cool
"Be water my friend" - Bruce Lee
Gas was $2 a gallon when WoW released. It seems you are paying more for everything and getting less in everything.
Why compare something like this when the overall price is minimal. If you are going to compare it do it with other forms of entertainment and you will see it is dirt cheap. Where I live you can easily pay $600 for a pair of snow skis, and then it costs $100 a day to slide down a mountain.
Death is nothing to us, since when we are, Death has not come, and when death has come, we are not.
