"whether it's due to XL's misguided notions of mass appeal or Trion's half-baked attempts at caring for a game that it didn't design and that it views as little more than a monetization experiment."

    Ouch! True, though.

FYI the author has been a fierce defender of (and enthusiast for) the game.  The events around Auroria did real and severe damage.

I prefer the inaccurate review of current archive status because it tends to be more accurate...

And for the record, I typed "archeage" not "archive".... seriously MMORPG.COM, why nut just substitute "kitten" for words not in your dictionary?

Although I see his point but disagree with him on the ultimate meaning of the Hasla T2, T3 introduction -- I see it as giving people not willing to P2W a fighting chance at being competitive -- it's a very well written and fair article about what happened this week.

Glad to see someone, from one of these popular gaming blogs, speaking up on how this weeks AA events were handled.

A very accurate review. The game is crashing and burning as we speak. They have made changes to the cash shop (selling a previously hard to get and expensive item) and people are freaking out. Add this to the land hacks and the general debacle of this week's patch and I think the days of AA are numbered. It was always going to be a niche type game but there is a big difference in being in a popular and well liked niche or being in a hated and then forgotten niche.
