If it's fixed inside of a month, then it's not Blizzard's worst launch ever.  Vanilla WoW servers were still a wreck a full year after launch.

I bet blizzard is loving these queues, complaint posts and everything.

Shows how much their game is not dead and how much $$ they are raking in.

Nothing says "Our game is awesome" like millions of people trying to log in and play.

I am entitled to my opinions, misspellings, and grammatical errors.

...I haven't seen any WoD content yet. I figured I'd just play on alts to avoid queue times but everyone keeps whining at me. Why aren't you in Draenor, when are you gonna try WoD? I dunno, when the queues don't take hours of my time? My fiance finally pushed me into queuing, swearing up and down it would only "take about 20 or 30 minutes". Well, he's on a medium pop realm. I'm not. It's been 1.5 hours and I'm still in line. I'm number 2XX with an unpredictable length of time left. It jumps between 10 minutes and 100. And that's only if I don't DC. I'm so frustrated that I'm not even in the mood to play anymore, I could have been on this entire time at least doing something enjoyable but you're supposed to rushrushrush into WoD and out as fast as possible.

I wonder if anyone that plays WoW endured Trion's launch of XL Games ArcheAge. 8 + hour queues only to be disconnected at the end and having to start all over again. I literally couldn't play there for a week. I was in on the first night questing in WoD. These issues have been minor compared to the crap storm I've had to endure elsewhere. Soon everyone will be forgetting about these so called launch issues. And will be back  ^_^

Currently in game enjoying WoD.. Epic expansion!

Source for the millions of people trying to log in - I heard it was just a few hundred thousand since many millions are in China who haven't got WoD. There was no source for that either so I assumed the guy was pulling numbers out of the air. You doing the same?

One thing I am sure about - I have no source but a lot of knowledge about business - is that Blizzard will not be loving this debacle.

If "a hit" is 1 person who spends some hours trying to log in for 1 day this launch may already be the worse - or close to it.

Yes a small number of the original 20 (two zero) servers had problems for a long while after launch but the new servers they started to roll out from day 5 had no issues. Most of the playing population had no problems. The problem only impacted a "relatively" small number.

This issue has impacted all the EU/US servers. So whilst we have no idea what percentage of the subs are EU/NA we can be pretty sure that "relatively" its a much bigger number.

There's 400+ servers for NA,EU,RU and OC alone. Each server is packed and,at peak time, has at least a 1k queue with high pop servers having a 5k queue of 600+ minutes. From what I read in the forums even servers that were low to mid yesterday, are now locked and have large queues.
    You do the math.
In any case we are talking about 3 to 5 million players either playing or waiting in queue.
    It is unreal.
If you take into account the state of their main competitors,it is black magic.

Think about it this way. Some servers had queues of well over 3000. That means 3000 people were trying to log into a single server at the same time, in addition to all of the people who were already logged on to that server. Now that's just 1 server, and WoW has roughly 300 servers for NA alone. That isn't even taking into account all of the EU servers. Anyone who thinks that WoW only has a few hundred thousand subs outside of China probably also thinks that the Boogeyman is real.

It is a 2 edged sword. It is of course good that many people still play the game but upsetting a large part of the playerbase is never a good thing.

"Trying to log in" is not a good thing at all...

Blizzard need to fix the issues ASAP, otherwise they are risking that the players who came back to try out the new expansion just writes it off.

Clear back in May Activision announced there were over 1 million copies of the expansion pre-ordered (purchased). People didn't buy the game not to log in and play.

Latency has been stable, and queues are back to pre xpac since this morning's planned downtime.

i felt like my weekend is wasted, i only get to play 5 hours due to the queue that can take up to 8 hours on high pop server, which i already lost 1/2 a day, while some of my guildmates never logged out because he's using some sort of macro keyboard that lets him move every now and then,

some of my guild mates are 98 to 100, meanwhile, i haven't even play the game past 10 hours since release, garhhh

    So What Now?

Well good news...they are going to start doing rolling realm restarts and throwing the ban hammer down on anyone they find exploiting the AFK...might want to pass that along to your guild mates who are doing this...

  • BladestromBladestrom Member UncommonPosts: 5,001
Lol you can't ban someone for going afk in a game, they paid to be on that server with no time limit.

    rpg/mmorg history: Dun Darach>Bloodwych>Bards Tale 1-3>Eye of the beholder > Might and Magic 2,3,5 > FFVII> Baldur's Gate 1, 2 > Planescape Torment >Morrowind > WOW > oblivion > LOTR > Guild Wars (1900hrs elementalist) Vanguard. > GW2(1000 elementalist), Wildstar

Now playing GW2, AOW 3, ESO, LOTR, Elite D

Sure they can, if their using a program that allows them to not be at the keyboard its against their TOS....try reading a bit before you spew crap online.

YOU HAVE TO BE AT THE KEYBOARD, or its against their TOS.....learn about it....

I haven't read their tos, but ye automating your char would be different. Thank you for the shouty correction...

If nothing else you made me laugh! It would be nice if we could all show a little bit of humor in our responses. :)

The queues have been back to pre xpac levels since Saturday morning.

They literally upped their server player capacity and replaced their server hardware overnight.

What MMO company does that lol

    A few quotes:

"As previously posted, both Europe and the Americas/Oceanic realms went into an off-peak maintenance to upgrade realm hardware"

"so far we’ve seen very positive results, allowing us to dramatically raise the realm population caps for all realms"

"We’re currently seeing a very high demand on the game and game services due to the exceptionally large number of people excited to play Warlords of Draenor."

    Wooo I got to play, logged in at 9:30am and no queue, no in game lag and all was perfoming great, got some 5 hours of play time in, sadly had to go out and now I am back but;

Still what I did get to play was really nice, lots of hidden chests, rares and events to find almost too much to do and think about doing at this point.
