Yes, the game sucks. It's a single-player MMO, complete with waiting queues and all! I mean, having to wait real time in-game for something to complete? It sucks even worse than an MMO, because time doesn't count if you're not in-game. Oh, and every action, even looting, takes time. Like, the characters actually bends stuff up. Lots of padding and filling. Even summoning your mount (which is actually not that fast), takes time, and doesn't mount you - it just calls the horse nearby. Just so people say "wow, it's a long game".
The combat is bland and stupid. It's a repetitive 2-skill system like most MMOs. Storyline sucks so far (20 hours in), and the writing is mediocre at best.
There's a LOT of grinding. The whole game is based on grinding. Whether it be Power or Influence or resources, you have to grind. There's plenty of content, that's for sure, but they're all repetitive and boring.
Maybe, as its own game, it could be a decent game, but it's not a Dragon Age game. It's... basically, it's what Sacred 3 was to the Sacred series.
I honestly felt like this is the inbred child of Two Worlds II and Skyrim, but in an MMO context.
So instead of copy/pasting inaccurate info from sites like metracritic how about you actually go play the game. If you don't want to that's fine but flaming a game like this is ridiculous at least try and be somewhat believable .

This is exactly what I was afraid of and I have read several press reviews now stating the same thing.
The world design is amazing. Good looking game. But story is subpar, disjointed and content highly repetitive.
Basically, what other People have said. A single player MMO with a mediocre Multiplayer meta game attached.
Bioware went for quantity, instead of quality, try to put in too much at once and as result the story element greatly suffered! /shrug
Highly dissapointing, as I want play Dragon Age for an engaging RPG story, like the DA:Origins was.
If I want to play an MMO, I go play an MMO I am already currently playing. Don´t need another one.
So I guess I am going to pass and wait out on this one, till it ends up on sale.
What press press reviews are you reading? A poster posted about ten that gave the game 80+ 8+/10. I know the last guy that said there are tons of bad reviews couldn't figure out a simple task of posting a link...maybe you can?
So instead of copy/pasting inaccurate info from sites like metracritic how about you actually go play the game. If you don't want to that's fine but flaming a game like this is ridiculous at least try and be somewhat believable .
He might have said it in blunt straight forward Words, but he isn´t the only one sharing that sentiment. There are press reviews out there stating the same thing. If you look past all the paid (add Revenue) glowing reviews and search for more objective ones.
This game has some serious issues, simply because Bioware tried to do and add too much into this game. Went for quantity instead of quality!
As result, the engaging RPG story, like we had with DA:O is non-existent. Instead you get a disjointed subpar writen story, made even more confusing with the sheer amount of repetitive standard fare MMO side quests thrown in.
The loot / reward system seems to be terrible and not making any sense! Even in Multiplayer. Several gaming sites are reporting this now, including this site! Now people had their first runs.
Then there are the technical issues (like the DirectX crash error) people are experiences to top it all off.
This is worrisome, as this gives me the feeling that this is just another game rushed out of the door to meet the holiday sales deadline. Same as Assassins Creed Unity, which was also rushed out of the door for the holiday season.

You guys and your conspiracy theories on every new game that comes out. Well start your petitions and threaten your lawsuits. Doesn't it ever get old bitching all the time?
As a melee character - I am not liking it. I have no interest in playing a ranged character and frankly melee controls are a mess on the PC.
Has anyone figured out a solution to make melee playable?
The only issue I have is that there is a bit of "locking" as you are fighting. I usualy watch the character carefully and either move when the animation is done or just press in the directon I want and when the animation is done the character moves.
It's not really an issue for me. I don't mind that the character doesn't auto follow the target.
Perhaps you could be more specific as to what your issue is?
Where to start - the lack of following the target or simply click to move to target.
If the target moves I am hitting air.
Removal of auto attack - why? Holding buttons to attack again why?
Tactical camera view - what a mess
Melee combat is just NOT fun as I am fighting with controls more than actually enjoying the game.
I just want to see the game actually designed for keyboard and mouse use - right now it is designed for controller use
I mean if you are going for that MMORPG single player feel - why can't I actually play it like a MMORPG with mouse and keyboard?
Nowadays I never buy a game on launch for this reason. Almost everything is destined for a console and as an afterthought they allow mouse and keyboard. I hate this trend. I play with a mouse and keyboard and not a controller.
Where to start - the lack of following the target or simply click to move to target.
- Um what? You want click to move? Geezus H what year is this?
If the target moves I am hitting air.
- Uh ok. Is this a melee character problem? I won't say it doesn't exist, I just haven't seen it as I'm a mage.
Removal of auto attack - why? Holding buttons to attack again why?
- What exactly are you doing when your character auto attacks, making popcorn? How about playing the game instead of expecting it to play itself.
Tactical camera view - what a mess
- Of course no specifics given. Works flawlessly for me.
Melee combat is just NOT fun as I am fighting with controls more than actually enjoying the game.
- You can't just make up stuff and rant about problems that don't exist because you are bitter about one specific thing that may or may not (have no idea) be user error.
I just want to see the game actually designed for keyboard and mouse use - right now it is designed for controller use
- you had ever opportunity to move onto the future of gaming, aka the PS4.
I mean if you are going for that MMORPG single player feel - why can't I actually play it like a MMORPG with mouse and keyboard?
- Sorry to tell you, but mmo's in the future will be built for gamepads too.
Why do you bother replying to him if you have no idea what you are talking about ? Yes his problem is with melee character as is mine. When I play a mage or archer the game is really good and fun. If I switch to melee, it becomes a chore. Plain and simple. Why don't you try it, it's not like you have to create a new char for it, just play as Cas.
If you dig through the trash at metacritic, you encounter quite a few constructive posts that complain about terrible writing and completely disjointed story.
And I tend to believe them, as I remember reading an early press review earlier this month mentioning the exact same thing. That the story is kind of dissapointing and very disjointed.
None of the press reviews I have seen said the writing was terrible and the story completely disjointed. Of the 27 critic reviews listed by metacritic only two gave a score below 80, one was in German so I can't say what they disliked about the game, and the other one was among the worst reviews I have ever read.
It got two scores of 100 by fairly well known critic sites and 12 reviews gave a score of 90 or more. It seems more like the game is getting praise heaped on it than getting flamed.
Even at Erik Kain at Forbes who can be pretty picky ends part 2 of his review with:
"This is easily one of the best games I've played all year-and I've played a lot of games. It's one of the most epic immersive roleplaying games I've played in ages, and its technical/graphical achievements and massive scope only add to that....I'll be playing this long after the credits roll, long into next year and beyond."
Since you have read no press reviews saying how bad dragon age 3 is, go look at the review for dragon age inquisition from gaming age by Mike Palermo.
if I could find this bad press review for dragon age inquisition with almost no effort, you must be able to unless you aren't trying.
I would link it here but for some reason, this site wont let me copy and paste.
But anyway the point is, there are bad press reviews for dragon age 3 and bad player reviews. I foyu don't believe me google that press article and go to metacritic and see for yourself.
I can only assume you say there are no bad reviews because you are a fanboy which is why I said Imhesitant to listen to the opinions of fanboys because they usually have some higher agenda like support for a company as opposed to a game.
The one English review by a critic that gave a score below 80 (which I mention in my post) was the one from gaming age by some noob who said the graphics are bad because his system couldn't handle the game, was upset because he had to make choices that had a meaningful impact, and didn't like that the side quests were actually important and worthwhile (among other stupid comments he made).
Oh wait- now I understand! You are that guy who has been posting about how it is terrible that DA has gay relationships and making derogatory remarks about Americans and western culture. In that case I'll just assume you are a dickhead and leave it at that.

Metacritic user reviews would perhaps be somewhat useful if they had the option to:
1) Disable all 0/10 ratings
2) Disable all 10/10 ratings
3) Disable all ratings that contain less than 200 words of motivation.
Perhaps you'd end up with a semi-useful picture then.
But right now, just no. There's no way you can judge the game in 1 day or so like most of those user reviews do.
Things you should know:
1) The game takes a slow start but builds up into epicness over time.
2) Plenty of side-quests, but most are contextually sound.
3) PC controls are wonky, but not terrible if you take some time to reconfigure. The only major issue IMO is that the tactical cam can't zoom out as far as before and doesn't automatically pan back to characters you select.
4) Some bugs, your mileage may vary apparently. Only real bug I've encountered is the war room menu bugging out and becoming unclickable. No crashes or anything otherwise.
Feel free to use my referral link for SW:TOR if you want to test out the game. You'll get some special unlocks!
I haven't gotten that far into the game but I'm having fun despite the bugs and the poor preformance, I really hope they can fix the fps issue soon, I have a pretty good rig, but I still suffer from poor preformance.
Forget the Metacritic mixed user reviews, go to the Bioware forums where the real DA fans live and you will see ample evidence that the PC version of this game is a broken, lazy and incompetent console port.

So much this!
As someone who looked forward to the game since they announced it, I thought I'd be busy playing all weekend, but no. The controls for PC are the worst I've ever encountered in either a rpg or action game. It's a level of fail I really didn't expect from Bioware.
The combat with these horrible clunky controls is pretty much unplayable. Until this has been patched, I may as well uninstall it. How I wish I could a refund!

Either play ranged or get a controller would be my advice.
Game starts slow and the first zone is boring in comparison to the rest of the game. It finally starts to pick up near the end of Act 1.
Most of the user Metacritics that gives the game a 0 has some sort of stupid grudge against the game based on flaws that is mostly stupid or a fault that comes from their own end.
1 Controlls and tactics wiev . It takes a while getting used to , but it's great after a while..
2. Graphics ..Most be the best looking RPG ever made..It's simply stunning, I have an average PC(gtx 670 and intel CPU) and the game works very good with the ULTRA setting,.
the players that has new rigs(high end rigs) and get poor performance is most likeley the game that does not handle some new functions in these new line of Graphics cards and CPU's very well it seems, it's odd. Hopefully that will be fixed very soon.
3 Open ended World...It's huge , massive even..Some players claim that the World is not open enough since you open up areas with Power, well that is true, but since the first area is almost as big as Skyrims , I Think there are seven regions ? and you can open up areas as you see fit and you will get enough Points to do so without having to grind anything. But I'm still in the first area after 20 hours ot so and havent even seen half of it.
Very early into the game, and haven't even gotten to more of the open world content yet, but am enjoying it so far. PC controls are slightly wonky, but hardly game-breaking. And certainly no worse than Skyrim's, and I was able to get used to that.
Game looks gorgeous so far, and I don't seem to be having any serious performance issues as of yet.
But I gotta ask...what's with the shiny hair? Everybody's hair looks like it's made of plastic. So bizarre.
There are a ton of little things that annoy me, like not being able to see my quest log while at the war table, respawning enemies I have to kill over and over to get certain places gets tedious, the interface sucks as all console-pc ports do these days, and enemies spawning on top of me out of nowhere. Lots of other small things that all add up, not making a list yet though.
I'm having fun with the game so far. The story is pretty cool so far and the graphics are great. I agree with most people who say the tactical view is a bit wonky and melee is really hard to get the hang.
The game plays like a mmorpg/skyrim with quests and cut scenes. It has me the most engaged in a game I have been in a while and played it all weekend without doing anything except laundry lol.
I started with a tank character but only made it about a half hour past the tutorial part and decided to re-role a mage. Been great ever since. The map is starting to get pretty big and I think its still the first area. If you don't use the quick travel it feels even bigger and most places have wandering mob gangs that seem to spawn in random spots in an area, so sometimes they get the jump on you if you are just running through not paying attention.
I pretty much have been doing every quest I come upon, reading everything I can and picking up mostly all the mats I find. Seems like the game is going to take some time to get through everything lol. As long as it keeps being fun I can see myself playing this for awhile.
Metacritic user reviews would perhaps be somewhat useful if they had the option to:

The War room issue only happens with fullscreen mode, either alt tab for a second or run in fake fullscreen.
Other than than i feel sorry for people that cant get past biased view of how this game is not a second origins but a new game.
Things are not as bad as people say but the story, immersion and the world are mind blowing, the longer you play the better it gets. I barely managed to explore 2 zones Hinterlands and Dragon Coast (OMG! at this location, unless you have shit rig) and i have 50h played.
And thats like 15% game played so far a little after the move to Skyhold witch is the real start for the game.
Majority people are to busy playing to read the silly rants here.
The only thing i have to admit is, the Tactical Camera that is useless if you look from above but if i use it in TPP view it works just fine.
PC controls are just fine you just have to do a lot of remapping and it plays like any other mmo this days. Even warriors are fine unless you expect to circle around enemies like in mmo games (that wont happen thank god)

I would have bought the game if you could play throughout the game with players, but no only 5 little zones!
ill just dawn load it and probably just play a view hours and uninstall the average game we get as gamers as usual.
What a sad world. "dawn load". Goodness.
Game is excellent. Just got to a certain point, and it was just epic. And I'm pretty sure that was just the end of beginning of the game.

instead of all this wild conjecture and posturing let us discuss the facts and how it compares to the beloved DAO.
THE FACTS
1. controls are wonky, there seems to be a disconnect, yes a controller is better but dedicated Computer users say FIX IT
2. crashes, low fps, black screens, blue screens, poorly optimized-thousands of people have complained about this, it ruins immersion
3. Tactics camera useless, all of a sudden you are looking strait down or your field of view is blocked-needs patch please
4. Tactics dumbed down in comparison to DAO, for those of you who loved BG2 this is obvious
5. Story of course is subjective but go back and play DAO and then try and tell me DAI has any where close to the same story goodness
6. Graphics are better and are very good as long as you have the rig
perhaps just perhaps after several patches it may approach the game it should have been
The War room issue only happens with fullscreen mode, either alt tab for a second or run in fake fullscreen.
