The way it should be with flying mounts. it is waste of resources to make huge zones based on flying mounts. Big isn't always better. image

It seems the game has moved towards a B2P approach where the most original content comes in the form of expansion packs, instead of content patches.

If only the game was B2P and not P2P to reflect the changed direction.

Nowadays you're better off playing the game for a month, maybe two max, in-between expansions.

Every MMO is played like this by majority of players - new game/expansion comes out - masses flock to it for about 3-6 weeks then move on.

    Rinse and repeat.

MMOs are not played longterm anymore but in short stints. (obviously talking majority here not exceptions)

I don't think so. It is only the case if the game gives no incentive to play it in-between expansions (like modern WoW). It raises the question what is the purpose of a sub fee in the first place -  you're not getting value for your money, and when new content comes out you need to pay a separate box fee for it. Games with regular and packed content updates can charge a fee because you're getting content for said fees. In WoW's case.... Um... you're just paying the "WoW premium"-fee like a lamb that does not give you much in the form of value. A scum move from Blizzard I would say.

You sure are getting your mileage in on posting on a VIDEO GAME YOU DONT PLAY.  You act like you know how WOW is but again and again remind everyone YOU DONT PLAY WOW therefore have ZERO knowledge of how the game is.  I mean you claim its a "lobby game" now lol.

Probably a good time to get over a VIDEO GAME.  Nothing wrong with not liking a particular video game but spamming nonsense on every thread about a VIDEO GAME YOU DONT PLAY is a little...weird.

I see - sense of humor not allowed around these parts.

Also WoW can be played like a lobby game - sit in town - wait for instances to pop - ignore everything else.

Did this change recently? if this is not allowed anymore than I am wrong.

Your post didn't sound like you were going for humor. I guess claiming it later is as good as any backpedaling strategy. *shrug*

    Rift > WoW sorry

Rift is far from better then WoW. At one time I might have agreed, nah it never has been. A decent alternative when you need a break from it, but I won t touch anything Trion ever again. WoW is everything Rift wants to be IMO, and getting better and better.

That is not what i asked.. i asked about your 'lobby game' comment. I stopped playing rift a month ago and i am pretty sure that is how Rift gameplay is.

Your Rift > WOW was a nice change of goal post though. The amount of double standards and personal bias some people show around here is staggering.

Well if you have been hating on a video game for ten years why stop now.  Well at least some of you will have something to waste your time on for another ten years...have fun with that and good luck wasting your time crying and whining about a video game you don't play...

I doubt even 100 people own that classic car.

At the end of the day it's still a fucking 04 Civic, LOL.   That's exactly what WoW is.  An old generic car painted up to look less shitty.

This is ESO. Better in every measurable way, except if you hit a pebble wrong, it will need a patch.

However if you want an real MMO that has an open world that requires you to do... you know what MMOs are suppose to be, is that you actually play with others both socially and gaming cooperatively then this game is not for you and hardly the best out there.  Which is not what LFR or LFD do since no one ever talks to anyone.

WoD pretty much was the final nail on the coffin with me since they went the route of continual appeasing of casuals and that they can do everything without commitment was too much for me.  I'm a casual player but this was too much of solo world feel and giving away of epics without any effort.  I want to come across a game where when I encounter strangers, it is in my best interest to work with them and not ignore em, it takes time and effort to progress my character, and less of a personal hero experience.  I'm tired of companies taking the Massively out of MMO.

The market is stagnant as hell and any decent mediocere product is going the feel like the greatest thing since slice bread.  Hopefully EQN bring some of what I'm looking for since title after title is just dissapointment as it is the same crap over and over again that we've been forced down our through over the past decade.  At least EQN is trying to bring something new to the table and try to shake things up a bit.  Hopefully they'll have some success.

WoW might be a polished game but a turd is still a turd in that they aren't trying to do anything innovative and are just milking the cow for all its worth.

Then what is the best out there?

I love how everyone whines about LFR when no one forces you to use it. You don't even get the best gear in LFR. If you are so antisocial that you cannot make friends and must relay on game mechanics to force friendship on players, maybe mmos' are not for you. In wow, you can be antisocial and never say anything, or you can be like the rest of us and join a guild with friends so you never have to use LFG or LFR unless you want to.

Having choice is never a bad thing. LFR has not ruined ANYTHING.
