As above goblin king. If you enjoy lore and questing then ESO is the real McCoy, my tip is don't rush through levelling, get into crafting and forget about min maxing skill points - long term you will have hundreds - spread your skill points wherever you fancy including crafting, also bear in mind you can and should do all factions like Mage, warrior etc . Re gfx ita very polished and lighting is really nice - comparable to gw2 but in a very different style. I think the issues with eso is at end game as far as I can tell which is why there is no rush, by tfs time we get there the champion and justice system should be bedded in
rpg/mmorg history: Dun Darach>Bloodwych>Bards Tale 1-3>Eye of the beholder > Might and Magic 2,3,5 > FFVII> Baldur's Gate 1, 2 > Planescape Torment >Morrowind > WOW > oblivion > LOTR > Guild Wars (1900hrs elementalist) Vanguard. > GW2(1000 elementalist), Wildstar
i resubbed to the game to check out update 5, and to level up before update 6, am only level 11, so am speaking of newbie impressions, i honestly like the game after the updates, i love the story telling, eliminates that annoying scrolling quest hub syndrome i got from wow through all these years, the variety of individual characters you interact with and their unique voice acting adds a cool flavor to the game experience, i play restoration staff templar, leveling is abit slow for me but, am exploring allot, i love it.
plus people there are actually LESS toxic, i ask something i get polite reply, and i say THANK YOU and everything goes smooth, i love it this way.
the graphics are GREAT ( i play on ultra-high all) and the game is pleasing honestly, i haven't tried Cyrodiil but i will..
so in the end, i'd strongly advice you to give it a try.
HI GUYS! BECAUSE OF YOUR GUYS AWESOME FEEDBACK I BOUGHT THE GAME
That being said heres a few umm... observations from the game that i'm finding that are kind of odd.... ?
Well the very first thing i noticed was my toon wasn't centered Oo I was like.. am i missing something here? But the only way to play centered is to zoom in all the way to 1st person (which i'm really digging) or to zoom all the way out. Weird design choice?
2. No nameplates. When i got to the first town the only way I could kind of correct this is by turning on health bars so I could at least get an idea of who was an npc and who wasn't at first.
3. My only major issue. What is with the console controls wheel thing when I want to talk to other players??? I mean uh.. this is a game on PC, designed for PC so whats with the giant console wheel thing?
BTW I have tendonitus in both arms so i cant hold down the mouse buttons for strong attacks or to block or that giant console wheel all the time, any alternate ways to do these things in game?
So far I haven't had a chance to get into it to much cause I have to get some sleep but it has a very... weird feel to it.
Wow thanks for all the feedback! I'd adress everyone personally but i'd end up spamming the thread lol.
The loading screens, dont seem to bother me, and maybe the graphics will look better in game I have a quad core intel 7 3.2ghz with a nvidia GEFORCE 580/28gig of ram and I can run Wildstar on max settings and get 60fps so I think I'll do ok with ESO i'm hoping!
I'm just really looking for something different ya know? I love Wildstar but its very frantic/twich based and as much as I like that I need an alternative to fill my slow time/exploration needs and ESO certainly looks to be the best choice for that!
I also find that the different structure such as no AH and crafting might actually be useful for once in an MMO? Every one I play sadly any crafting skill becomes pretty much useless because games always throw gear at you by the handful so whatever I can craft is sub par anyway :
The ONLY thing i'm a bit worried about is all the videos i see on ESO have that crosshair stuck in the middle of the screen. Is there a way to disable that or at least get something that doesn't look so bad in the middle of the screen all the time?
I dont suppose they have camera lock in game so you can look up/down with just moving your mouse?
Other then that I think i've set my sites on getting the Imperial Edition for Christmas break here and jumping in
Any server recommondations for a new NA player?
There's a cross hair at the center of the screen because your character's aim is wherever the mouse is pointing to. You can hit a keybind which activates the cursor mode, allowing you to move your mouse around without moving your camera, but this is mostly used to access your inventory, skills, etc. You can download an addon called Wykkyd's Full Immersion which allows you to scale the reticle, hide it completely, or hide it based on context. Furthermore, there's only one NA server since the game uses the Megaserver technology.

What do you guys think?
Sorry to hear about your tendonitis, that is going to make pc gaming difficult. I sometimes get pain in my mouse hand/forearm due to all the mouse work in various games, I find a ps4 controller is much more forgiving.
The off-center third person is just how its set up, I seem to recall it changes the more you zoom in/out? Closer in and you look more "over the shoulder" further out and the camera is more behind the character.
I remember thinking the same thing about not being able to tell the npcs. It gradually gets easier, I am pretty sure I also turned the health bars on. The lack of nameplates is to enhance immersion I think, I remember there was a lot of debate about it before launch.
Ah, the console wheel! I had forgotten about that, for potions etc right? I seem to recall I could somehow set up a hotkey to open and select a potion, I haven't played for a while so not 100% sure.
I don't think there is a way to do heavy attacks and blocks without holding down the mouse buttons.
As someone who formerly loved GW2, this will definitely scratch the same itch and actually reward it. The one thing that I found disheartening about GW2 was how easy it was to see through the veneer. The world design was great, but the depth wasn't there. I find ESO is different; I find lots of lore and quests that actually engross me. The graphics are beautiful in this game, and exploration is great. In short, if you loved wandering in GW2, this will be no different.

One thing I liked about both games. GW2, I took my level 20 something Ranger to a level 70 something zone so I could capture extra pets. I died a few times on the way but as long as I could find the waypoints I suffered no major setbacks and ended up with some nice pets and a fast port to a major city. ESO, I took a level 14 character to a level 30-40 zone to be bitten and did the vampire quest. It was actually fun checking in from time to time to see if the infected were out that night so I could be bitten. After being bitten it was fun actually completing the quest and going back to the low level zones to level as a vamp. Both games gave challenging and rewarding adventuring by going off the beaten path which I hadn't experienced since WoW.
