ArenaNet has announced that the Guild Wars 2 Living Story Season 2 will make its return on January 13, 2015. The story will pick up as the assembled heroes are ready to break the seal on a mysterious cave. Between now and then, however, players will also be able to take part in the annual holiday events.
As we count down to January 13 and enjoy the holiday season, we’ll feature a number of exciting events across our core game modes in Guild Wars 2. On December 16, our annual holiday festival, “A Very Merry Wintersday,” will make its return at its new home in Divinity’s Reach. Queen Jennah has graciously agreed to host the event to celebrate the Pact Fleet’s coming assault into the jungle, and to lighten the burden on Lion’s Arch during its rebuilding efforts in the wake of the city’s destruction.
Starting December 16, and running through January 13, we’ll host our first-ever test ladder season in Player vs. Player! Using our new matchmaking and ladder formulas, you can battle your way to the top of the ladder in PvP for the next four weeks to earn prestige, honor, and prizes!

Think everyone saw this holiday break coming.
But this huge cliffhanger before starting the break is a nice way to piss players off.
gw2 is adding new content pretty slow with no expansion in sight.
gw2 should not be your main mmo because it is very casual mmo with slow content addition, if you keep it as your second mmo and play it from time to time ((during the living story)) then its all good dont consider it as your main mmo or only mmo.
There you go GW2 players; 3 sets of 2-hour content over 6 weeks that all end with pointless and boring 'cliff-hangers' (Can we even call them that? The missions just seem to randomly cut off.), and then they even manage to disappoint you further by delaying the final 3-hour content until next year.
Living story, such a waste of development resources for such minimalistic and average at best content.
But don't worry, a copy pasted holiday event is coming, it's the same as last year but now with twice the amount of cash shop items! Woooh!
Someone might read this post and wonder, why bother writing it if you don't like the game? Truth be told I'm really annoyed by GW2 and ArenaNet; They promised and to a large degree delivered a very good product, but it's the post-launch development and direction of the game that just really bothered me, it's such a terrible waste of a good game.
This is exactly how I play gw2. It's a great game to play in between games as well.
They just took a damn break. I mean, come on. This was a horrid cliffhanger to leave players on for a month.
just wanted to say one thing
players play the game, trolls sit and complain on forum
didnt you read the article....theres nothing to play til January
You are aware that the updates brought a new zone / extended the zone for endgame farming?
Yes 1 zone! That is a lot of content from all those living stories that come and go.... /sarcasm
They need to make actual content that remains in the game and improve the game further instead of wasting all their resources on temporary content.
Where are the expansions? The new skills? New classes?
That's GW2 downfall compared to it's first version.
Actually 'come and go' is an oudated complaint about living story. ._.
The past 7 episodes haven't gone anywhere, they're no longer temporary content.
You can complain about the lack of new skills and classes, but living story hasn't been temporary for quite a while now.
All of my posts are either intelligent, thought provoking, funny, satirical, sarcastic or intentionally disrespectful. Take your pick.
I get banned in the forums for games I love, so lets see if I do better in the forums for games I hate.
I enjoy the serenity of not caring what your opinion is.
I don't hate much, but I hate Apple© with a passion. If Steve Jobs was alive, I would punch him in the face.
lol, most fans of o0ther games feel the same way. No doubt this site has an earned reputation for many things.
