It is good to see that MMORPG.COM is apparently a small enough site that people can manipulate the hype meter to get a game virtually no one cares about having top billing.
Good job, manipulators, whoever you are...

How does the hype meter work?
Yes, I've been interested in it since I found out about it last week.
I've also mentioned it a couple of times in my recent posts after watching some youtube vids of gameplay.
You've been here almost 10 years and you still don't know how the hype measurement works?
Actually it is a pretty decent pre-alpha game. I have enjoyed it quite a bit. I hope you give it a try, but I am taking it will not suit your style because it doesn't hold your hand. It is not a very forgiving game because there is no directive on what to do. you have to figure everything out on your own, just like OLD EQ was.

The OP doesn't have to worry anymore. Project Gorgon is off the front page now.
Ever possibly think that people have been clamoring for an old school PvE centric sandbox with massive exploration? Of course you didn't because like 99% of the posters on this site you only think of your own personal preferences.
Sandbox means open world, non-linear gaming PERIOD!
Subscription Gaming, especially MMO gaming is a Cash grab bigger then the most P2W cash shop!
Bring Back Exploration and lengthy progression times. RPG's have always been about the Journey not the destination!!!
Made up statistics.
Overly cynical.
Also, probably right (sorry OP).
This site makes me cynical but yea I know I'm right.

it is worth a look!
No B.S.
I know I'm going to get shot down in serious flames for this. Posting anyway.
The only thing that's keeping me from playing is that there isn't any PvP. Hear me out, please.
My idea of PvP is a long-lost, chivalrous, and most likely rose-colored glasses idea. The kind where you find an enemy out in the world, fight said enemy, and either win or lose with grace. I'm not sure if my earlier days of gaming were like that, but hey, I'm old, and things kind of manifest themselves differently in my brain these days.
I'm not even sure if I LIKE PvP any more, not the way it is in the modern day. Gankfests, sh**-talking to the extreme. I've played a billion different sandboxy MMOs, full-loot PvP and the like. None of them lasted long for me. Yet I still crave that type of game, for some reason. Hell, I'm not even GOOD at PvP.
Maybe I should just play the damn game and enjoy it, but I do miss those old days of...wait, where'd my Metamucil go? Why am I still typing?
This thread is a funny read.
OP posts regarding possible tampering with the hype meter (something that's come up with other games as well in the past).
Nearly every reply is people completely ignoring the point raised by the OP, and instead using it as an opportunity to hype/promote the game.
Promoting a game is fine. Being excited about a game is great. There are plenty of places where expressing those views is appropriate.
However, replying to a post to hype/promote the game, while completely ignoring the actual topic/issue, is not only rude, it makes you look desperate.
It's like informing the waiter at a restaurant that your plate and silverware weren't properly cleaned, and all they say in response is "Our food here is delicious! It's all top-notch! Best in the area! People love it!".
I considered Gorgon a pretty decent effort when you consider how few people work on it.It also has some creative and unique ideas that other games do not have.I was actually enjoying and playing Gorgon whilst ignoring all other mmorpg's until the lead Eric made a few changes imo in the wrong direction,so i left the game.
Basically he was contradicting himself, one moment everything had to be plausible/real but then started to go against that in his design. His reasoning for decisions started to be for all the wrong reasons so ya i gave up on it.However the core design is solid ,he needs a lot of money and manpower to fully make the dream come true.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.
Okay. You want the answer to the OP's question? It's in the FAQ. The FAQ is listed on every page of this site.
