I re-ran one of mmorpg.com's polls, voting for most anticipated Fantasy game. The results were:
Forum Poll Which of these six hyped up fantasy games, vote starting January 17th '06, do you anticipate most? Dark & Light 14.1% Dungeons & Dragons Online 14.7% Hero's Journey 23.6% Vanguard: Saga of Heroes 33.5% Lord of the Rings Online 12.6% Gods & Heroes 1.6% Based on 191 votes.
Anyways, my vote goes to Age of Conan. I dont need to boast about it. The game does that already from what I've seen of it. Although I guess VG will come out first. (If it doesn't its gonna lose a lot of people)VG:SOH does sound interesting and I will definitely check it out amongst other games. All in wait for Age of Conan though.
Currently waiting for the MMO industry to put out something good.
Hard to decide between Vanguard and Conan, I guess I will try both.
Honestly most of upcoming games seem to be same old <censored>. They all seem to be follow formula: "class+equipment+level+quest = xp+money+reward". It is like playing playing NHL 2006 just after you ended playing NHL 2005 - only name changes, rules are still same. Where are all those high budget and good looking games that are not build around that same formula?

no Darkfall on it, while much lesser games are on there, and since its the second most hyped game on MMORPG.com im wondering why you overlooked it, and added Warhammer for example
Out of curiosity why do people post these silly polls. If you want to know which upcoming games people are most looking forward to go up to the top of the page, click "Game List" and go look at the hype meter.

Self affirmation, curiosity, whims and I think sometimes people just feel like "hype" isn't overly accurate. Maybe they'd like oppinion to go along with instead of just a random number. For example, if you filled out a hype comment about lets say.... DnL 3 months ago, you may now think differenlty, as someone who likes hearing your oppinion on these subjects, I may have a genuine interest on how you feel about the subject today.

Because on a poll fanboi can't vote negatively like on the hype meter, sure they can logon as one of there many alts and vote again, but not much we can do to stop that.

It doesn't surprise me that some sizable names are left off, and look at the OP's signature.
Well IMHO i could not possibly see Sigil (dev company for Vanguard) doing anything of this sort at all.
Now i know this isn't going to offer you much because there is not much i can say to prove my point but i'll tell you what i personally think of Sigil from my time following Vanguard:SOH from the very early stages of development[when they had not even given us the name of their new game].Quite honestly Sigil is the most honest open and upfront dev team i have EVER seen and i've been closely following mmorpg game evolution and developments since UO and EQ. The Sigil devs actually post on their forums EVERY DAY, and im not talking about some PR guy sugar coating everything. Just go check out Brads (Sigil CEO) and many other key devs(artists, programers, designers) post counts on their forums-you can tell they are really fans of their own game! and im not saying that they are spending precious dev time chatting it up with the community either. A lot, maybe most, of their posts are done at off hours, judging from the times they post. So they are posting in their personal time from their homes, thats how you can really tell just how into gaming they are. They not only post everyday but their posts are indepth and they talk on your level(the communities) and offer equal respect to everyone and their opinions, many times going to great lengths(sometimes pages and pages for one post!) to explain their thought process in using a mechanic or why they are implementing a feature a certain way, or how they tend to make a cool feature work etc.
Their community following the game realize this and stand up for them in this regard and thats why there are all the "fanbois" as you call them. Infact Sigil does not need to hire someone to plant them into a msg board like this because they know they have earned the respect of their community(and rightly so i assure you) that will back them up.
Now all this is not speaking of Microsoft, their publisher, and knowing them they can plot and scheme sometimes. However i really am sure that if they wanted to spend money on Vanguard propaganda they would spend it on advertising (which is no doubt coming along shortly because they have launched their marketing campaign this month), and not some cheap little gimmick on a msg board that'll be seen by maybe a few hundred people at max. One more think to mention is that Sigil AND Microsoft Games department have both commented that the way sigil is developing Vanguard is very free and up to them, Microsoft has agreed to have little impact on the actual design of the game which is awesome, and leaves Sigil free to actually develop a good game!
Also notice how the OP already has almost 450 posts and registered a long time ago so it is highly unlikely that he is a plant by Microsoft or Sigil.
The fact is that most people who have been loosely following the game for such a long time are now coming back to it as it is drawing closer to release and pulling a lot of new players in. There may also be magazine ads starting to appear(personally haven't seen any, though im not subscribed to anything at the moment).
LOL and i hope my complete"fanboism" is not too apparent. But go and spend some time on their msg boards and you'll know why. Infact here is a link to a "dev tracker" that finds all posts by the devs. http://www.silkyvenom.com/?page=devtracker&pagenumber=1 There are 1017 pages of dev posts archived, each page consisting of 10 posts per page. That is 10 170 posts made by devs total, and thats just the ones the tracker picked up since the creation of that fansite. What other company in the past has respected its community in such a way??
I just really had to respond to that accusation because i think you sometimes need to give respect where respect is truly deserved, and this is one aspect of Sigil(the way they treat their community) that i think has been the best in the entire industry bar none!!
Again im sorry for this loong post and i can assure you im not planted in here by some higher power The company has just earned my respect and showed us they are real human beings wanting this game to turn out as good as us, thats all.
