does anyone know of an mmorpg that involves quality graphics, deep immersion, and has an old school fantasy feel i can sink alot of time into? any recommendations would be greatly appreciated..ty )
There is a LF game section on these forums and you might get more of a response there. I can tell you, though, the verdict is probably going to be elder scrolls online.
Ashen Empires has hours upon hours of gametime and quests you can really emerge yourself into. The graphics are old as it is an older game, but the things you can do in-game an unmatched imo to any other 'MMO' out there. The world is huge (From an old runescape player, it puts that map to shame and it's no small map either) there are factions you can join and gather other faction members to take a town for benefits, houses you can build, sailing, bosses. And if you enjoy items you have to work for, or quests that don't take 2 hours, this will be the game for you. To enter harder parts of lairs and dungeons, or enter boss rooms, or even dragon islands, you need to be a Master Slayer or dragons already (2500 or 25000 I forget, haven't gotten it either).
The graphics are older, which was a big let down for me in the beginning when I started to play, as I went from Lineage 2, Dungeons and Dragons, and Tera to this, but once I sunk my teeth into it, I couldn't go back. I tried ArcheAge, and was unsatisfied with the lacking of things to do. In Ashen, you can take up a quest and come back to it, start a Renegade hunting task, kill x amounts of Minotaurs, Dragons, Giants, Animals, Insects etc, and rack in a nice sum of XP handing it in.
The top two that come to my mind are The Lord of the Rings Online and Elder Scrolls Online. You may feel LOTRO may be a little dated in terms of graphics, however of the two I feel it has the greater immersion and fantasy feel you are looking for.
ESO is the way to go if you're looking for immersion, stunning graphics and "kind of" old-school mechanics. It's alot like DAOC, except it has action-based, Skyrim-with-a-hotbar sort of combat rather than tab-target combat. Not to mention that the lead producer of DAOC, Matt Firor, created ESO. PvP is largely the same as DAOC's, involving some good ol' 3-faction warfare, capturing keeps and defending them, hundreds of players and utilizing siege weapons.
I believe in Update 7, due to release in March, the Imperial City zone will be added, which is basically ESO's version of Darkness Falls. It's big. Really big. In fact, most of it is underground and has alot of ruins and Daedric forces roaming around; and the other 2 enemy factions. I myself am hyped for it
