Sony Online Entertainment has been putting out fires on social media with H1Z1 for the last twenty four hours. When the game launched into early access on Steam yesterday, users were hit with login issues, and potential pay to win gameplay mechanics. The actual refund will not be coming from Valve, but SOE themselves.

This is as close to an admission of outright lying / misleading customers as we are going to get,
H1Z1 is the most cynical sort of blatant cash grab this industry has devolved into.
Good luck with that. Still waiting for them to refund my Trials of Obiwan purchase.
Don't know about that one but they did keep their promises on landmark refund, at least for me.
They did for me as well. In the parting commentary when you relinquished the game to get the refund, they asked for 3 reasons why you didn't like Landmark. Unfortunately, they replied with a copy/paste form that didn't address any of my critiques, rather, summing up my reasons as hardware incompatibility. My machine ran it fine, and wasn't a factor of why I ditched Landmark. What that did allow was for my leaving to be included as an acceptable statistic that wasn't aimed at them, but gave the impression it was the consumer's fault. So, yes, refund granted, but their exit survey was a farce.
LOL.
So you only get a refund if you bought the game today. The people who bought the game yesterday at launch and went through all the problems don't get a refund. Talk about trying to save money. He knows that probably 50% of the people who bought the game yesterday would probably try to get a refund.
Makes sense.
If you bought the game anytime before 10:30am Pacific Time today you can get a refund as long as you request it by Monday.
Unless the vast majority of people do this the air drops are here to stay. And as loud as the social media complaining are I seriously doubt enough people really care to do this. I am afraid air drops are most likely here to stay in H1Z1 as SOE is betting on them being a main source of revenue in game. They will tweak them a bit to make it seem like they are responding to player feedback but at the end of the day they won't change them enough to hurt sale of them in the cash shop. And you know what? Players will buy them and games in general will slide a little deeper down that slope of monitized jokes of what they where before this micro transaction nightmare was unleashed on us.
Reading comprehension 101 man.
He said as of which means anyone who bought it BEFORE he posted that.
I also got a refund from Sony from the Landmark purchase. It was close to immediate, like a day or two. Pretty close to immediate for this kind of thing.
Might as well try it if thats the way you are heading.
Its sad they tell you this is an alpha the game is not done. you buy it and want a refund because the game is not done lol.
Can I ask people something. How do you expect companies to make money on a free to play game ? They spend millions to develop these games and let you play them for free. This is a business its not a charity they need to make money or you have no game to play anyway.
They offered alpha access for $20 thats a hell of a deal honestly. Do you guys remember how much the alpha access for landmark and dragon prophet cost ?
I remember how much the beta access cost me for Planetside 2 -$40, but you also got 4000 station cash as well.
The game is going to be free 2 play you know right OP?
You are paying to get an early access and be able to experience and "help" (Crazy, I know right?) developing the game by finding bugs and whatever.
Honestly, I think this is bull. These people paid to test the game and that is exactly what happened. This was, in essence a major stress test and the users did there job. The fact that they didn't know that they were paying to test the game not play the game is not SOE's fault. They made it quite clear. I paid to get into testing and help the development of the game, i understood what i was getting myself into. The company should not bend.
Note: I am not a huge fan of SOE and i am not trolling. i'm just letting you guys know why i think it's bull that any major studio has to bend over for every kid that does things with out thinking.
Lol, used to be a time when people were paid to find bugs and whatever now its people pay them to do it.
There used to be a time when people had to pay just to log in into a game. Times change, get used to it?
In the US at least, if you buy any alpha/beta piece of software, you are ENTITLED to a refund, under the cardholder agreement for most major credit cards.
All SOE is doing is saving themselves some charge-back fees.
(And yes, lifetime (20+ years of buying with a CC) I have purchased 4-5 pieces of software that were alpha/beta and were so shitty I called the CC company and asked for a refund, got the refund every time. And this was despite conflicting with the EULA, which means nothing.)
No they have not, there are still games that you need to pay to log in and funny enough they have the best and most content of all the games. Last time i checked even WoW asks for a subscription.
Are you even thinking when you make these posts?
LOL there are still plenty of games available that you need to pay to log into. Times haven't changed, get used to it?
Back then, one could pre order a game to enter in beta.
Now you are offered to get in early access on some of them if you "pay" upfront.
I wouldn't say it's THAT different.
I'm in no way defending them as I haven't tried it yet. With that said however, some people do expect perfection in alpha or they rate it 1/5 or whatever lol.....
Yep, there are still some reminiscents of those times.
Far from plenty, just handful. Vast majority of MMOs are F2P, which is a radical change from couple years back.
Times indeed changed.
Before that BETA was completely free but limited to those that got an invite. What changed was that people started selling BETA Keys for a lot of money.
I personally made more than 4000 euro on DOTA 2 Betas and another 2000 on CS:GO before they stopped it. People are willing to pay for betas, that is the message we sent them and this is what we get.
Do i feel bad for doing it? A little because i facilitated this, on the other hand i had a great time making money off these people desperately trying to get a BETA access.
F2P is a sign of a failed MMO.
You do actually believe the stuff you post which is baffling.
