Looks like you've got the beginings of a game and a basic concept. But I cant give realy anticipate anything, I dont know anything about it.
Proposed features? Gameplay mechanics? How many people are working on it? Where is funding coming from? What makes this game different from all the rest, aside from the setting? About the setting for the game - so its organized crime, anything else going on with it?

It's hard to anticipate something I know nothing about.

    I apologize,

We are looking to see how many people like the visual design and the concept behind a mafia mmorpg based in a toonish, but gory setting.   The game will be aimed towards NC17.

If you visit www.nemesisstudios.com you can easily learn a little more about our company.

hoho! NC17 eh? I like it already ::::02::

Says your going to try stuff that other developers havnt had the balls to (I'm paraphrasing). Ok I'll give ya the benefit of the doubt. Though I'm typicaly skeptical of developers claims (I've felt mislead many times in the past), its a show-me-the-money kind of thing.

    Mafia setting: thumbs up ::::28::
Cartoony style: thumbs up ::::28:: (I'll take anything thats not a realistic style - its old and tired)
    "gory": two thumbs up ::::28::::::28::

To be honest, I'm not too much impressed on the character design.  Are they really going to make them out to be short cartoony gremlin like people doing "dirty" business?  That kinda design puts me off...

But, on the other hand, one can only begin to wonder what aspects of the game will be implemented.  Switchblade fights anyone? Looks to me they'll be doing some drivebys in this game.  It kinda reminds me of that old Rodger Rabbit movie.

Holy crap!  That just got me thinking... what if there are 2 different worlds the real world and the cartoon world?  That's be pretty sweet if they pulled that off... but, I guess something like that wouldn't be in their plans. <sigh>

Edit: Accidently screwed up my poll question..

Professor Hubert Farnsworth - That question is less stupid but, you asked it in a profoundly stupid way.

The look is acceptable. The setting is acceptable. Neither are a high anticipation, but neither are a turn off.

I guess it will all depend of the gameplay and what the game propose. Is it a shooter or a RPG? (Mafia can be both)  Or even a Strategy game maybe...

I dont have any hype about what I see so far, but I am not displease either.

    Just a few replies,

Yes, there is a gremlin toonish look to the game, it resembles both Dick Tracy and Roger rabbit.

No, it is not an Online Shooter (FPS), it is a mixture of both RPG and Stradegy.

We have really pushed the envelope in terms to repetitve game play, we have almost eliminated it with our unique systems.

Here's a little more information on the characters and even a job opening for those that are skilling in the Language Arts.

    http://www.mmorpg.com/discussion.cfm/load/forums/loadforum/501/loadthread/50230/setstart/1/loadclass/155

I think a job like that would involve alot of researching for the old time slang, and possibly even you'd have to read alot of police reports back from back in teh day.

Haha, wonder if prohibition will be in Goon World.  I can just imagine the silly npc nicknames.

Well I am absolutely glad that  a lot of you are interested in Goon World, unfortunately you will all have to wait until Winter of 2005 to see or find out any more information on the title.  We will keep an eye out on this post, if you feel you have some good ideas that you want to present to us then I suggest you post them here, because here at Nemesis Studios Entertainment we plan to take the players very seriously, especially their opinions.  Nothing will be missed, thanks everyone and we will see you on the Community Site this Winter! :)

eh my problem is the realism....

first off there is no such thing as a switchblade fight. a switchblade is not meant for a direct knife fight its made to be easily hidden and to stab someone when they are unexpecting.......... there are some exceptional switchblades that arent but generally switchblade fights are a hollywood misconception.

and looking at old school mafia and crime of that era gunfights none of them lasted very long......

with the exception of bonnie and clyde.

i think the setting would easily tire you would run out of types of crimes to pull off very fast....

i think the settings is bleak at best when considering it for a full development.

because the primary skills involved would be gun, knife, fist fight(stupid when theirs guns and knives), intimidation, persuasion, and driving....

not enough to run on in my mind.

and please people the only good switchblades ever made were the cuban ones.......

Vergeltung, not to be rude or anything, but I think: "who the hell gives a *cough* apart from you?"

It's a gangster game, you get to shoot people, while online. Sounds like fun.

Yes, but Darkchronic, he's right. What if you're fighting some bloke with a switcblade and it suddenly retracts! You just stand there holding a handle, rying, "oh noes!" and looking foolish. Gawd... that would be SO embarassing! Of course, not everyone can afford Cuban switchblades... or even cigars!

    Hey guys,

We appreciate everyones desire to learn more about our upcoming title Goon World.  The website is not far from being complete and ready for public viewing, we are really stoked here in Pennsylvania to finally be able to release our upcoming press release and finally officially go public.  Here's a little hint, when you see the company website for Nemesis Studios Entertainment, L.L.C. take it's new form then you will know that the Goon World website is not far off.

If we could show you now, we would, but unfortunately in a business there are certain things that need to in place to hit the scheduled target and those things sometimes are in place, but fall out of place as the other things fall into place causing us to put the things that fell out of place back in place, hehe.. or something like that :p

In October of 2005 (around Christmas as promised) we did an interview with WarCry, a little searching around on the internet and you should be able to find some more dirt, erm... I mean stuff on us and our upcoming title!

I don't see mafia+ toonish design mix into something i'd like to play(i'm not a huge fan of cartoon type games)  however depending on concepts and features i could be wrong.

    Oh and...

Don't come back til you at least have a functioning website and some alpha screen shots!image

I'm gonna make this quick and short.

CHANGE the name. That name is not catchy, and actually sounds like a childish cartoon type game. That name alone will lose a lot of potential onlookers.I said this only to help the game along,in no way am i trying to downplay its potential,as i have no idea what this game involves.

Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.

Noticing your last post was few months ago until your latest, what is new with Goon World?

I'd be glad to see or hear of anything happening behind the scenes. Posting a blog about the state of the game or just giving updates when you have a breakthrough.

Just to build up the hype for all of us wondering about the game. Aside from this it'd be a fun thing to look back on after the game is completed. :) I'm sure a lot is going down seeings how the game is new

Its information until the fundamentals/mechanics/story can be released

Unfortunately, we feel the name fits and so do many of our anticpated fans.  We realize we can not please everyone and unlike many of the developers today won't try to.  We are targeting and focusing on a particular audience which has allowed us to be much more innovative in our production thus far.  Hopefully when our website releases you will look past your undeniable hatred for our products name :p

To everyone else who is interested, please bookmark our website and check on it from time to time, because it wont be long until we unleash a lot of goodies and our website for the community!  I can not give you an exact time, but look for changes on our current company website to take place first.

Until then we would love to hear some of your ideas and thoughts you might have for Goon World! :)  We will have some of our key developers check this post from time to time to see if there is any constructive discussions taking place here.
