General: ARPG OnePiece Online - Closed Beta Begins

This week, Chinese publisher JoyGames announced the start of a closed beta for its online game/ARPG/tower defense game based on the popular manga, OnePiece.

Called OnePiece Online, the game gives players the chance to jump into the pirate-themed world of OnePiece, build a team and begin your own nautical quests. Among other features, the game offers:


  • 300 Instances

  • Familiar characters like Luffy, Zoro, Sanji and more

  • Combination role-playing, real time battle

  • Faithful reproduction of the OnePiece storyline

The closed beta started January 15 and runs for 7 days. For more information regarding OnePiece Online or to sign up for the beta, go to the game's official website.

    That is called an arpg? What was I even looking at, I would be ashamed to make a game like that.

    How the fuck this classifies as an ARPG is beyond me. This just looks like another piece of shit p2w game trying to cash in on that anime money.

    This is obviously just a reskin of another Chinese published game. Look at how they all have the same exact UI, the same exact concepts, 30000 servers to switch between every single time they open a new one so that people who are willing will pay for VIP again and again. It has the same god damned VIP system that the more you pay the higher VIP status you have which grants more power and rewards, which is obnoxious to say the least. Companies like this and R2 have been ruining F2P games for a while now.

    I'm not a graphics whore by any means, but come on! There are Sega Genesis games that look better than this... and I of course mean all of them! Well, maybe not Action 52. 

    The game play looks boring and uninspired, the animations are almost nonexistent, and the translations are laughably awful. 

    A lot of people love this anime, and I think it's disgusting that companies just slap the name on it to make a quick buck off the fans, the ones that are gullible enough to pay for this stuff anyway. Would it really have cost them that much to make this into a decent ARPG? They should have copied Marvel Heroes and simply made a dozen or so of the show's several score of characters playable in environments and locations from the show. What fan wouldn't want to explore the depths of Impel Down?

    Such wasted potential, and I say that as somebody who's only somewhat familiar with the show. What's next, a copypasta of this into an Attack on Titan MMO?
