As we're seeing with the announcement of our new forum system coming soon, big changes are afoot at MMORPG.com. We're working our way towards a bold and new take on the 10+ year old site. Today's quest is a simple one: what sort of things would you like to see in the new site?
Here's what I can tell you about the new site, whenever it does come:
There are lots more little things on the back end, but these seem the most pertinent to post for users now. Is there something we're missing? Something you'd like to see?
It's a bold new era coming for us, and while we're still a ways out from showing you thew new look... it's coming. But not without your input! Feed it to us here.
I promise, the new site will be better than this...

Ha!
That would be for Craig to come answer. I do BELIEVE that clients can buy as much space as they want. But perhaps Craig can at least get some "less boob-tastic" ads in the next site.

Sounds awesome. I'm really looking forward to all of this. Oh yeah and this was refreshing to hear: "Representation of whether a game is an MMO, an RPG, or a MOBA, etc. without having to click through."
Mr. Seldon and a handful of others are gonna love that.
"Mr. Rothstein, your people never will understand... the way it works out here. You're all just our guests. But you act like you're at home. Let me tell you something, partner. You ain't home. But that's where we're gonna send you if it harelips the governor." - Pat Webb

I would like to see the.. "my profile" page updated a little bit, if its at all possible. Something a little more streamlined where most of the information is on one ..maybe two pages. The reason I mention this is because sometimes if I haven't logged in for a while, I check my profile page to see what my last posts were to follow up on them.
It would be nice to have that as a quick jump of some kind. It would also be cool if we could add things like column writers we want to follow, or posters we would like to follow, and have that listed almost like a feed.
The main reason I come here is for the forums. This is where I find my news, and my information, and where I see what the most talked about columns are, but sometimes I miss out on past columns from my favorite writers because I don't really have a way to "follow" them and know I missed anything.
You're in luck! You'll get all this and more with the new site. The profile will have a quick look and cool article/post/forums feed just by clicking a dropdown. It's really slick. The follow writers thing is something we're discussing, but not 100% sure. With the move to a whole new database (while keeping all old data), we should be able to do this.
EDIT: Reminded myself too, that the top nav bar will have little numbered "notifications" of things you missed since your last visit. New articles, reviews, even new games listed will all have little notifications with a numerical indicator next to them to tell you where to look for new stuff.

This is how I interact with MMORPG.com:
#1. News Section - My favorite thing about the website. However, I do wish that this feature would cover strictly true MMORPGs.
#2. General Pub Forum.
All of the other features, e.g., Videos, Columns, Blogs, Reviews, TGN, etc are ignored. I come here because I ultimately want to learn about new games and to mildly praise/complain about MMORPGs.
The only other feature that I think I would participate in would be something like this:
MMORPG.com Dream MMO Tab: A tiny forum / poll voting board - A way we can all somehow create the idea of a dream MMO, e.g., weekly votes on the style of crafting etc that most MMORPG.com users yearn for. If someone makes a superior post about a unique feature, it can get voted in by how many "likes" it has - perhaps a funny way to show real developers our ideas etc.
I'd also like a "thumbs up" and "thumbs down" button shown for all forum topics and replies.
"Current Forum Activity
Refreshed every 10 seconds"
While this probably never worked for me, recent forum posts are always interesting to follow, so I hope there will still be a reasonably accessible link to that.

Dauz: you'll be happy. The content feed is probably my favorite part of the new site. Much easier to see what's new and what's trending.

That's so funny that you say that Stizzled, as I hardly actually visit the forum and just research games and visit the most recent threads. I would love for the profile to be more friends and have better 'add a friend features and messaging" system but it sounds absolutely like that is all changing so I'll be happy with whatever releases I'm always on here >?< so I'll adjust haha. Also, I hope the background colors are decent!
Same density of info, just easier to read... I think you'll like it.
