Bought WoD and played for 2 months, thats all. I dont care if there are 10, 20 or 100m subs playing WoW. Talking as a player who played the game for almost 10 years and more than 10k hours, i can say that WoD imho is the worst expansion ever. It gets even worse with every twitter, selfie, garrison etc crap they add in the game and the lack of the real content.
I cant even talk about the non existent professions, the zero talent choices, the classes, the absent of new bg / arena and the list goes on.
Anyway i agree that tons of ppl still having fun playing it, so ofc its not the end of the world or the death of WoW. Despite that i think its the worst WoW expansion by a mile.
That is over a full year of play time. That would mean you have spent ~12% of your life over the last 10 years playing a game. That is insane. That large a %s for that long a time. I am sure there are peeks and valleys.
I guess you really liked the game.
“It's unwise to pay too much, but it's worse to pay too little. When you pay too much, you lose a little money - that's all. When you pay too little, you sometimes lose everything, because the thing you bought was incapable of doing the thing it was bought to do. The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot - it can't be done. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.”

A couple of things are going imo.
Call it dumbing down, ez mode or trivializing the game, they getting rid of some of the players concerns such as having to farm mats to craft items. You don't like the RNG loot? Get currency (badges) to buy them. Wow takes to long to level? Make it faster to level (which is funny considering how fast leveling was in wow when it was released!).
I suspect a cost cutting is involved. Getting rid of the old talent system because it took too much effort to balance instances was the reasoning but lowering dev costs sounds more likely. The game is too trivialized overall.
Now before some punk comes in and claims something about some difficult setting on an instance...Well, that is a small part of the game. If you started a new character(s) and looked at the amount of time it would take to do all the quests, all the instances at each difficulty and looked at what percentage of the time was spent on that "special case", it would be tiny.

Yeah some punk might come in and counter some punk's comments on the game..... As soon as you put "punk" in there you lost the argument.

Farming is so MoP, garrisons are WoD! Next expansion you won't be doing either.... there is an upside to all this!
I know tons of people have and are playing Wow... But never invest so many hours in a video game given the short lifespan we all have and expect that investment to give you returns in your real life. It's a game treat it as such, even if it's a hobby, think of the hours spent you could have learned to make your own game or improved your life in someway. of course this is my personal opinion on gaming for myself. I know when players are young they don't feel like life is being wasted, but it adds up. have fun in RL and in gaming Life.
I really enjoyed this expansion "enjoyed" being the operative word here and I honestly feel this xpac took steps in the right direction. But Blizzard seems to always fuck it up towards the end game, just too little to do, and I mean "new" things to do. I always play the xpacs and move on after I've got mjority of the achievements present.
Before I left WoW once again all I did was tinker in my Garrison, the crafting is very lack luster and imo has really had an adverse effect on the economy. I now make more money faming WOTLK/CATA items than I do from this xpac.
The Garrison was a great idea, just not really executed well leaving very little to do towards the end and making it completely devoid of personality, granted I know its not housing, but I felt this more a Famrville feature than actual conent.
At the time I left the raid had not even come out, I was not going to wait for it, and for someone who uses the LFR feature I was not going to grab at the bread crumbs they throw to keep me invested.
Why is it that such a large company like Blizzard are so darn tardy with content? I mean last year Final Fantasy 14 realeased 4x the amount of content and they had to build that game up from scratch! Heck even The Secret World had more content which is a fantastic game, but they are struggling. Going down the F2P route you have Neverwinter which again released more content, of course you buy it, but its still cheaper than a sub.
Yes I know a lot of people play WoW and yes I know its popular, but I think a lot of people stay either out of brand loyalty or because they don't want their toon to get left behind. Its really time Blizzard start doing more for their consumers rather than nickle and dime them at every opputunity and take large gaps off from content as they use our sub money to make xpacs to sell right back to us.
C'mon Blizzard I used to love your games, but now I am just getting tired.
Garrison activities have to be the worst excuse for content I've experienced. They are like some type of Facebook slot machine game - make your choices, press a button, check back later to see if your RNG roll won or lost.
Apparantly the 'selfie camera' that allows you to take selfies of you char in game (I kid you not) can be upgraded to apply filter lol Should be an April fool, but no it's their big feature for 6.1.
rpg/mmorg history: Dun Darach>Bloodwych>Bards Tale 1-3>Eye of the beholder > Might and Magic 2,3,5 > FFVII> Baldur's Gate 1, 2 > Planescape Torment >Morrowind > WOW > oblivion > LOTR > Guild Wars (1900hrs elementalist) Vanguard. > GW2(1000 elementalist), Wildstar
If blizzard release an achievment where you have to take a selfie in the middle of a boss fight I'm gonna piss myself laughing, Becaus guaranteed people will do it lol

Same as pet battles.
Get back to story line and journey ffs.
A huge part of WOW's playerbase today is not intelligent enough to understand a story line (even as simple as stories come in WoW) nor patient enough to enjoy a journey.
Is this the twilight realm? 2 months ago there was nothing but praise for blizzard,
"this is the best xpac to date" "this feels like the burning crusade" "Blizzard is really listening to its player base"
Now we have:
"0 content" "this is the worst xpac to date" "wtf is blizzard doing"
wtf.
Just shows how fickle the typical mmo audience really is. It also shows that no matter what a developer does, they can never win in the eyes of the audience in general. The leveling process in WoD is far superior to anything else in the past in terms of story especially how each area had chapters to stories and provided a ton of background information related to the area in question. The biggest problem with that type of experience is that it gets a little stale after doing it once or twice.
Additionally, this is another expansion pack where the 5 man dungeons provided little additional content once are geared enough to raid and are past the 5 mans for the legendary ring quest. Challenge mode isn't everyone's cup of tea. WotLK, I felt, kept 5 mans relevant throughout the expansion, especially since new ones were added with patches. That's something Blizzard needs to get back to.
The Garrison feature is pretty interesting, but becomes stale once you have your garrison maxed out...which was surprisingly easy. Considering they are such a focal point to your character the garrison system should have been fleshed out a lot more. However, if they choose to, they can build upon it in the future.
I am still enjoying WoW, and I do like WoD. There is plenty of content to be done, but it's a matter of people willing to do what's available. Not everyone likes to raid, pvp, pet battle, achievement hunt. Which is about the extent of the current content. People in the past might have scoffed at faction reputation grinds, but they did provide something else to do. Especially when they garnered interesting rewards, like the Netherdrake or Cloud Serpent rewards for rep grinds.
The people that have quit WoW in the past and then come back to check out the newest expansion just need to come to grips with a few things.
First, we're not ever going to have a Vanilla or even TBC style of WoW ever again, the game has moved too far away from that style of game to ever go back. Remember, Blizzard did try to make challenging 5 mans in Cataclysm and that was when people left in droves.
Secondly, the game will never be fresh again. New expansions will bring new content, but outside of leveling through it the first time, it won't be anything that you haven't done in the past.
Third, be prepared to only play for a couple of months before boredom sets in, or, quit coming back all together.
Blizzard will find ways to keep those playing hooked and will change the game just enough to make people interested in coming back for a bit. As long as they get some of your money they are happy.

lowlevels leaving Astranaar and walking into horde, Burning Steppes was always fun for pvp.
So what you're saying is, you don't PvP. Ganking lowbies are not PvP. The entire concept of Player vs Player was created to have a bigger challenge, with better intelligence behind decisions an enemy makes.
"Simply amazing. 99.9% of people posting there is no content in 6.1 have not completed the current content.

really? the raids in wod are the worst i have ever seen! so BOOOOORING!!! LFR shows me on 85-90% what is the raid about..and i tell you - thanks for such a boring and stupid raids! not mentioning imperator (if i remember well)..that raid is for masochists! so fucked up...

Did you also complain that normal dungeons in TBC were easy too? They just made the difficulty tiered. If you want to experience a raid comparable to TBC then just go play Mythic.
YOu basically proved his point, you are a LFR hero complaining about no content.

Many of us here are saying this new selfie camera is wow is an "invasion of social media in gaming". Actually it is quite the opposite, i give it a few years and all of us will be posting in social media through our game avatars. this is the beginning of "invasion of gaming world into reality". Just watch.

Agree, but still not sure myself why exactly I left after barely 1 month. Sure, never liked all this this CONSTANT dumbing down expansion after expansion, garrisons are epic, but removed effectively need to go around or to city. Idea of returning to past of BC is ok, but expansion feels to me just like BC2 but with less distinct areas. And than there is that HORROR of new models that changes completely look of avatars. Total disappointment, never been so disappointed with Wow ever. In all this years there have been changes I hated (but adapted) and those I loved (mainly up to MOP with hunter and warlock). But this time.
I have played day and night MOP and ANY previous expansion for at least half year before I needed a break, then have been returning for at least 2 months from time to time until next expansion. I’m altholic but still have been enjoying a lot end game in form of 5man, but they lost me after changes in Cata. WOTLK for me is still best ever expansion in any possible sense, followed by MOP I think.
Make no mistake ... I had a blast this month after release (despite have not been so much problems since original release) every single minute in game ... then after 1 month some day I realised I do not feel any more like logging back. Since december I’m enjoying in full Swtor, at least there experience has not been ruined, but game is also much younger.
I had on day WOD was released 22 maxed out alts, all personally leveled. After I quit after barely 1 month I already had 4. Leveling is too fast to compensate to lack of questing I guess. I will for sure return at some time, but not sure will have this time more than maybe - just guessing - 8 alts. And all this makes me sad.

22 maxed out alts? And you are not burnt out? I only have 6 characters who were ever at max level for a given expansion during the entire 10-11 years of WoW. Most expansions I would only have 1 character at max level.
IF you have 22 and then you played another 4 after WoD launch, well, I don't know what to say. But of course levelling alts would get boring as you have seen everything there is to the game like how many times? 20?
Mission in life: Vanquish all MMORPG.com trolls - especially TESO, WOW and GW2 trolls.
Said this quite a few times before. This game is now about RAIDING and high-end PvP.
You are entitled to complain if you don't like any of this stuff, but then again, you might not be the target audience.
Other wise, did you:
- beat both raids, Mythic difficulty? Yes? OK, you can complain No? Go back to working on bosses.
- playing at 2k+ rating consistently, fully geared etc.? No? Then back to improving on your play.
These being said, WoW is on a strange path lately, I must admit. I will probably end my subscription in about a month once I have downed Heroic BRF and seen what the deal is all about to 6.1. I kinda got bored doing the same "farm mine, farm herb garden, send companions in missions, do Ashran, do PvP and raid" thing everyday.
Sad thing is, there's no other MMO that does things even 10% as good as WoW. Only money schemes and F2P opportunism, and undeveloped shit games.
Not really, wow target audiance has been player who do not want to commit to high end raiding that requires x hour nlocks of time a eeek, in fact I believe it's only the top couple % that do high end raiding.
As for high end raiding it's basically die 60 times a week on the current WIP boss then move on. Horrific but fair eneogh if people still like that sort of thing. As for wod - garrisons and selfies - who exactly was that for, the bubble witch demographic perhaps?

There's also PvP. Not random BGs, but organized arena and RBGs.
However, it might seem that the game is not about raiding and PvP.
But think about it good.
Is there anything else to do at 100?
Because there isn't, IMO. Staying in garrison, running LFR and daily dungeons, leveling alts, running follower missions and so on is NOT real or good content, it's just crap.
This is why many people feel like quitting, because if you do not raid or PvP seriously, you can basically forget about WoW, cause it's too boring outside of these 2 activities.

Blizzard will find ways to keep those playing hooked and will change the game just enough to make people interested in coming back for a bit. As long as they get some of your money they are happy.
Nothing was won or lost. It wasn't an argument. DERP,

Kyleran: "Now there's the real trick, learning to accept and enjoy a game for what it offers rather than pass on what might be a great playing experience because it lacks a few features you prefer."
John Henry Newman: "A man would do nothing if he waited until he could do it so well that no one could find fault."
FreddyNoNose: "A good game needs no defense; a bad game has no defense." "Easily digested content is just as easily forgotten."
LacedOpium: "So the question that begs to be asked is, if you are not interested in the game mechanics that define the MMORPG genre, then why are you playing an MMORPG?"
Oh wait.. I forgot.. they are all LFR Heroes..Great job completing LFR."
really? the raids in wod are the worst i have ever seen! so BOOOOORING!!!

Boobs are LIFE, Boobs are LOVE, Boobs are JUSTICE, Boobs are mankind's HOPES and DREAMS. People who complain about boobs have lost their humanity.

As for high end raiding it's basically die 60 times a week on the current WIP boss then move on. Horrific but fair eneogh if people still like that sort of thing. As for wod - garrisons and selfies - who exactly was that for, the bubble witch demographic perhaps?
rpg/mmorg history: Dun Darach>Bloodwych>Bards Tale 1-3>Eye of the beholder > Might and Magic 2,3,5 > FFVII> Baldur's Gate 1, 2 > Planescape Torment >Morrowind > WOW > oblivion > LOTR > Guild Wars (1900hrs elementalist) Vanguard. > GW2(1000 elementalist), Wildstar
Now playing GW2, AOW 3, ESO, LOTR, Elite D
There's also PvP. Not random BGs, but organized arena and RBGs.
However, it might seem that the game is not about raiding and PvP.
But think about it good.
Is there anything else to do at 100?
Because there isn't, IMO. Staying in garrison, running LFR and daily dungeons, leveling alts, running follower missions and so on is NOT real or good content, it's just crap.
This is why many people feel like quitting, because if you do not raid or PvP seriously, you can basically forget about WoW, cause it's too boring outside of these 2 activities.
