Idk I think it will be another full loot pvp dead in a month population decline kind of game. Most people who play in the PVP crowds are in the MOBA genre.
Because full loot pvp is the reason games fail right.
Some of you folks need to learn about the difference between correlation and causation.
Originally posted by Nanfoodle Originally posted by baphameti know nothing about this game, is it ffa full looting? if so, yeah it wont do well and thats not really going out on a limb either.those kind of games rarely do well, i can only think of one that has been released in the last 10 or 12 years that has.
As always threads like this is filled with miss information. They have different PvP worlds with different PvP rule sets. FFA PvP world is the only one I think has full loot. Some worlds its just inventory that can be looted but the devs have been very clear, getting loot in this game is very easy. So having your crafting supplies looted is no big deal as getting more is not hard at all. Im not a fan of full loot but if they keep to their word on this, its no biggie.
you realize that this KS is only funding the FFA PVP ruleset. right? they call it their 'core module'. all the other world rule sets they list on the KS page are not being funded by this KS.

There are absolutely NO "better" alternatives to PVP out on the market. Currently PVE-Themepark is flooding the market. Most of which are failing left and right, and studios close due to this path that they've taken.
More diversity is ALWAYS good.
Please give examples of "better" titles out there that do pvp "better". Please reframe from listing ANY themepark MMOs that simply tacked a "pvp module" on later that doesn't fit at all with the game they designed. (ie: don't list WoW, RIFT, etc...these are themepark games with an emphasis on hand-holding, quest-driven, content).

Do PVP better? The game isn't out. But let's grab a few games that either have or will have interesting PVP mechanics now. Darkfall, Camelot Unchained, Pathfinder Online, EVE.
You aren't seriously suggesting that Darkfall as an example of great PvP mechanics are you?
I wouldnt. But compared to something that isnt released or is just hype and tech demos (..whatever) even Mortal Online has better PVP. promises are easy, we need to see finished results with full servers. Cant see that when you are paying for a product which does not exist except in someones mind...So sales and expectations are hype-Nothing more.
So darkfall wins. lol
This basically sums up my point nicely. And if the game is like Wildstar, then yes Darkfall will be better.

Well if you want twitch FPS combat Darkfall is unrivaled in the MMO genre. You shoot an arrow see it fly and hit someone in real time, pretty rare in this genre. So tired of that game getting a bad rap from bitter DF1 vets and people that can't handle full loot mechanics.
It looks like CF will have a little something for all PvPers. I do hope the CF combat heads towards aiming and real time combat over spells curving around corners and through structures. They may not want the skill ceiling to go as high as FPS games and Darkfall though. The average gamer will get destroyed by the elite faster in the pure skill based games.
It would be very unwise to take any of these opinions as fact or to help "sway" you in one direction or the other, this is what has been wrong with MMORPG consumers for years now and it really needs to stop and everyone needs to go back to the old school mentality of "wait and see". It used to be common knowledge that any and and ALL MMORPG's ALWAYS show their true colors within the first 3 months.
Just cause this game got funded on kickstarter in no way guarantees it will be great. If in doubt just WAIT. I'm tried of this hype machine, it really doesn't help the industry or the consumer, sure its great they got kickstarter support, but hey, they got the support they needed......now they better deliver! Never question what you deserve as a consumer.

How far did you get in Crowfall?
If you didn't play it yet, disregard the question and delete this thread as it's irrelevant.
I still dont get gamers wanting games to fail. Yelling fail before we try them. I really think as gamers we should hope every game does well and get upset only when devs really make a bad game. Even then, ESO sucked at launch but the fans are eating things up now. They seem to have turned the boat around for the most part. IMO nerd rage over games is some of the dumbest stands gamers can make. Hate a game, walk away and stop posting about it.
It's because many of us on these forums are American and we simply MUST have our opinions heard! Lol.
Seriously I am almost 40 and I still do not understand game hatred at all, much less pre-release hatred which seems to be a world all its own. I am really not into FFA PvP games at all, and so I simply won't play this one....imo it won't be hugely populated, but who am I to judge? It's not like it will have any effect on the games I do play.
I know though it sounds really simple lol, the nerdrage is strong in many of them.

Idk I think it will be another full loot pvp dead in a month population decline kind of game. Most people who play in the PVP crowds are in the MOBA genre.
While this is obviously laughable as "PVP crowds" means nothing, but at the same time, CF is actually trying to harness some of what makes MOBAs enjoyable with the start/finish conditions instead of a traditional static world. So if anything, "PVPers" that play MOBAs, might actually be drawn to CF if they ever get tired of running the same few maps over and over or having to wait over and over for a match.

Huh? Honestly can't tell if you are trolling me, if I upset you, or somehow am the winner of your forum rage today.
I'm not jumping on anyone, the comment made by the OP is one, incorrect (full loot) and two making huge assumptions and connections without any context (most PVPers play MOBAs therefore this game will fail).
True MOBAs are the most popular games and are also a form of PVP, but the comment is reaching quite a lot. Like saying any PVE game that comes out will fail because "Most people who play in PVE crowds are in WoW." Which depending on how you want to look at things, is true while at the same time completely false.
But regardless, if I somehow upset you in the past, really don't know who you are or what I might have done, sorry I guess.
Saying whatever we want (to a point) is our right, but if someone makes false claims, I'll point it out, hope others would do the same to me. Don't care at all if someone is being critical about something I might like, we all like what we like. Didn't claim to be uber (do we still use this word?) or make any comment about carebears, especially when I think that term is moronic and used poorly. Enjoy your dark souls uberness
Originally posted by Nasa Crowfall may do very well. Im just skeptical as I still remember how it did go for the PvP-only MMO named FURY.
Hey I just mentioned FURY in another thread. I'm not the only one that remembers it lol.
To me, the difference is FURY had short matches minus any real progress or mmo elements. Once you had decent gear and skills, just a matter of making builds and running maps over and over, much like MOBA/FPS and the like.
CF is blending in a lot more RPG/MMO elements along with RTS/Board Game stuff.
For me, FURY was on the opposite end of the spectrum compared to other PVP mmorpgs, yet both resulted in stale gameplay due to their designs. CF might be the special sauce in the middle, or maybe not so much. Time will tell.

I mean it got over 50% of it's kickstarter in less than a day, it's already doing well.
As for the actual game, there are no other MMORPG PVP games that reset the world every so often to give players that new game landrush type of feeling so it has already carved out it's niche.
That's not true. There's mmos that have been doing it for almost a decade now. Its not a new concept. Don't confuse something new to you with something new.
Wasn't Cataclysm a world reset. Didn't DAoC do the reset thing too every week or so on the keeps or I could be wrong on the interval times. Shadowbane too had some sort of reset.

the stretch goals will just be more than just the "core module" at launch. wont they? this KS is said to only be developing 'the dregs' ruleset. 3 faction, 6-12 faction, and guild v guild aren't being funded by the 800k.

I think you're wrong on this. This is what they say about the KS:
"Our goal for this Kickstarter is to fund the core module of Crowfall.
How many games can you play with a standard deck of cards? Poker, Blackjack, Bridge – the variety is endless. Think of the core module like our baseline deck of cards. This is the foundation of the game, on which all the variant rules sets can be built.
Much of the core module work has already been done; we are looking to the community to help us finish it. Specifically, we will use these funds to build:
The Core Module, Character Creation, World, Combat, Economy, Eternal Kingdoms, Campaign Rules"
They even call out specifically what the funds will be used for. Granted, the wording could have been a bit better, but from what I can tell, the funds will be used to create everything they have listed in the Kickstarter project description. The Dregs are just a variant rules set.
